This is a hot read, but the storyline is incredibly contrived and not at all realistic. Plus, the main male character is overly dramatic and unforgiving.

This is a really fun, sexy and sweet forbidden romance. I loved seeing how Allison and Zane tried to fight their attraction to each other but ultimately the chemistry between them was too strong. This book was paced really well and I loved how most of the book took place on the island but we also got to see these characters when they were back in their hometown. This romance isn’t only forbidden because Zane is best friends with Scott, who is Allison’s brother, but Allison is also secretly working for a company that Zane absolutely despises. I loved that this book had both of these elements since it kept the drama going the whole through since they had two obstacles to overcome. For some reason when Allison’s character was introduced I immediately got Jessica Wakefield vibes (hello Sweet Valley High) and for that reason I instantly connected to her. I also appreciated that Zane had a lot of different things he was working through and his reason for being so loyal to Scott made complete sense to me.

Fantastic short read. This book ticks off all the necessary components of a good book. A fun adventure, disaster, unrequited love, and hot sex. You won't be able to put this one down.

The first 60% of this was excellent for me and I enjoyed the writing a lot. Brothers best friend, forced proximity at a resort in the Bahamas, a hurricane that forces them together?? Catnip! Unfortunately once they were back in the states it lost some of its sparkle for me. This is part of the Seven Sins series and I read it as a stand-alone. I definitely think I would have liked it more if I read the series in order. I was a bit confused with all the Black Crescent references. I also didn’t love how fast the ending went, Zane seemed to go from being mad to being in love in two seconds flat. Also an epilogue after only a month?? It was just too fast. I’m looking forward to the rest of the books in this series! 3.5 stars since I did love the first 60% so much!

Karen's books are always a hit for me, I adore her writing style. I'm also a huge fan of multi-author series like this one. I have coverage coming on this book and the first book in this series by Naima Simone on Frolic in mid-May. They did a joint interview talking about writing books together in a large series like this.

Karen does a great job incorporating Naima's characters' voices in this story and I'm excited to read more.

Allison is ready for some R&R and to get the hell away from her cheating ex-BF who thinks that cheating is human. (say what???).

Zane is her brother’s BFF who goes through women and not someone her brother wants for his little sister, however she has had a crush on him when they were younger and as they are stuck together at the same place, she decides to go for it. He of course tries to resists at first - but then he doesn’t.

There’s a little drama with his hidden agenda for revenge & her not being forthright with him but it’s an HD and you can expect a sweet HEA.

Received a free copy from NetGalley for an honest opinion. This is me giving you my honesty…. Recommend to those who want a nice little romance to pass an hour or two…

I was given an advance copy of the book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was fun and exciting and packed full of tropes for everyone to enjoy! Friends to lovers, sister of the best friend, tropical setting, an unexpected storm, hidden secrets, and long/tome grudges. They all come together in this fun, fast/paced story.
