I read this as more of a standalone than as part of a series. I have read a few other Thayne books that take place in Haven Point but I haven't read the complete series. Overall, I think reading this as a standalone works but it might be better to read the whole series.

The romance between Samantha and Ian was sweet but predictable and of course throwing in some puppies and cute kiddos added to the sweetness. It was a fun summer read and I will continue to look forward to Thayne's new books.

RaeAnne is an amazing author. She brings the story alive from the first page until the end. I can easily visualize the story and see all of the characters. Love the way she describes the characters and setting.

I really enjoyed this book.
Very enjoyable. The writing is excellent and you will fall in love with Ian's kids just like I did. Oh and did I mention there are puppies!! A nerdy professor with an accent no less, cute kids, and adorable puppies. What better recipe for a terrific romance is there?

Another Great book by RaeAnne Thayne! I love how she makes you part of the book by getting me emotionally involved with her characters. Reason why she is one of my favorite authors!

Having not read the rest of this series, I felt there were some missing pieces. However, it was a fine stand-alone title. I enjoyed the development of the characters and the personal growth exhibited by both. The children were a lovely bonus! Breaking free of the past is always a difficult thing and seeing their journey was encouraging.

RaeAnne Thayne is one of my favorite authors and the Haven Point series has been wonderful. I'm sorry to see it end with this book, #11. It could, I think, be read as a standalone, but afterwards you will want to go back and read the others. I loved the characters in this book. Samantha is a strong woman who is dealing with a lot of serious life issues at the same time. Ian is sort of a nerdy academic who is dealing with being a single dad. Neither is looking for a relationship but they find themselves drawn to each other. Well-written but somewhat predictable, as are all romance novels Confirms why I love RaeAnne Thayne.

DNF for now. I'll come to it. I need to read the first ones in the series first. Sorry about that. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

An appealing and enjoyable tale of two quiet souls finding each other at an unexpected place and time in their lives. Samantha, a boutique owner and budding wedding dress designer, and Ian, biologist/Oxford professor and soon to be Earl of Amherst meet on his vacation to her town on Lake Haven for his sister Gemma's wedding. Each had dealt with pain and loss in their lives, had survived the heartbreak, and had built successful, fulfilling lives that they mostly enjoyed. The attraction was obvious from the beginning, but their everyday lives were physically miles apart: he's from England, she lives and works in the States. But they had this one summer month on Lake Haven.
The time Ian and Sam live as neighbors is filled with adorable kids (his), cute puppies (hers), small-town living, and meddling friends and family, some serious conversations on the deck, and ardent kisses in the dark. I did get a bit tired of Sam's recently-deceased domineering mother, but Sam is bound and determined to find her own way. Ian also is facing family responsibilities at the end of the summer and is still trying to accept the loss of his brother and the consequences of it.
Lots of love and sun and bliss and happiness ensue, as is usual with Lake Haven books. It is part of a series but could easily be read as a stand-alone; the previous books' characters are mentioned but they're not really critical to the storyline

A few years ago, I got really sucked into RaeAnne Thayne’s Haven Point series. I binge read book after book from the series and got used to the format which basically was Christmas set book, spring/summer set book and repeat. So, when I saw Summer At Lake Haven was coming up and I guess wrapping the series, I was so excited for it. Unfortunately, I did not account for picking it up at a time when I wasn’t in a good headspace to read books. So, straight up, my frame of mind and body impacted my impression of this book.

Summer At Lake Haven is Samantha Fremont’s story, finally. Samantha and her mother Linda have been side characters in pretty much all of the previous Haven Point books. Unfortunately, Samantha’s mother, Linda, has died. And so, Samantha is living in her mother’s old house and also running the boutique. She starts to make decisions for herself without the influence of her mother’s voice. One of those decisions is adopting a dog. Anyways, the house next door to Samantha ends up being rented for the summer by single father Ian Somerhill.

When Ian’s children fall off the dock, Samantha ends up rescuing them. This ends up opening the door between Samantha and Ian. Oh and did I mention that Ian is British? He’s a professor who specializes in salmon. Also, Ian’s sister is about to become a permanent Haven Point resident and is getting married, so another reason for Ian to be in Haven Point over the summer.

I think that Summer At Lake Haven was just not the book for me. Maybe I have outgrown Haven Point? Maybe it is just that I associate this book with being ill. Usually I would read Thayne’s books in a single day but this one took me over two weeks to get through. I was not at all invested in the romance between Samantha and Ian. And that was rough because I wanted to be invested, I wanted to care more. Overall though, I think if you are a fan of Haven Point, you should give this book a shot – particularly for series closure. You may end up enjoying it so much more than I did.

Another good book from RaeAnne Thayne. I love series with interconnected stories, and Lake Haven definitely has interconnected stories. This book can absolutely be read as a standalone, but you'll see characters from previous books show up in this one.

The two main characters have both lost someone in their life recently and are both grieving in their own way. Ian came to Lake Haven to study fish and attend his sister's wedding. He rents the house next door to Sam who is the designer of his sister's wedding dress.

This is a sweet summer romance with cute puppies and adorable kids.

This book is an enjoyable, light summer romance. It’s an easy read that takes you right to Lake Haven. Sam and her insecurities from her relationship with her mother that passed are somewhat overdone in the book and takes seat from the building romance with her and Ian. I still enjoyed the setting, the summer charm, and the romance. While this isn’t my fav in this series, I still liked it!

An appealing and enjoyable tale of two quiet souls finding each other at an unexpected place and time in their lives.
Both Sam and Ian were appealing, likable, and relatable characters. They had dealt with pain and loss in their lives, they had lived and survived heartbreak, and had built successful, fulfilling lives that they on most parts enjoyed. From the meet-cute the attraction was obvious, they had shared interests yet physically their everyday lives were miles apart. But they had this one summer month on Lake Haven...
The time Ian and Sam live as neighbors is filled with adorable kids, cute puppies, small-town living, and meddling friends and family, some serious conversations on the deck, and ardent kisses in the dark. Sam is overcoming the death of her domineering mother, trying to find her own footing in life. Ian is facing family responsibilities at the end of the summer and trying to accept the loss of his brother and the consequences of it.
Summer at Lake Haven was a perfect escape-reading experience for me, with minimum angst and turmoil, yet lots of love and sun and bliss and happiness, it was a soothing story that brought a smile on my face and induced lots of joyful thoughts. RaeAnne Thayne knows how to entertain and please her readers, and this one didn't disappoint, either.

Ian Somerhill, future Earl of Amherst and biologist/Oxford professor, rents the house next door to Samantha Fremont, local clothing boutique owner and budding wedding gown designer. Ian and his children Amelia and Thomas are in Haven Point for his sister Gemma’s wedding and so he can research a local breed of salmon. As a family, they’re working through the children’s grief over their mother’s (his ex-wife’s) death. Sam is also grieving her mother’s recent death and her conflicted feelings about their difficult relationship which has left her with feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. Sam is designing Gemma’s wedding gown and has recently adopted a dog who surprisingly has puppies. When she asks the kids to watch the puppies while she’s at work, the bond between all of them begins to grow and strengthen. As loving feelings between Ian and Sam become too great to deny, will they be able to put aside their insecurities and roadblocks to build a joyful life together?

In this 11th book in her Haven Point series, Thayne continues to lure her readers into this beautiful, caring community along the shores of the fictional Lake Haven, Idaho. As we’ve seen in previous books, everyone has faced personal struggles or tragedies, but opening themselves to love allows them to be vulnerable and share life’s burdens. You can’t go wrong with this lovely series.

There's something about seeing the Harlequin logo that has me one-clicking, ready to indulge in a great romance. And this author definitely brought me that.

Wow!!! What a way to end the series. This story was about Samantha and Ian. Samantha is struggling with the loss of her mother and doing something she really doesn’t love for her mom, but also doing something she loves for her. Ian is in town for his sisters wedding, with his 2 adorable children. There are secrets to be told, a love story and some healing.

This is a wonderful story and I’m sad to leave these characters.

Even after her mother death Samantha still deals with the memory of her mothers voice in her daily life and it isn't all at nice with how critical she was. Samantha is working on a friends wedding dress and was surprised to find out that her friends brother and children are living nearby until the wedding. Ian are Samantha never expected to get close but it sure happens now they need to so figure out what to do with that because he lives far away in England.

If you love a good summery type of contemporary romance to read you'll like this. Its show on the drama with a slow burn romance. The book is clean, theres a bit of sweetness with the children and puppies. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and even if her mother was dead I was not a fan of her because the mother that Samantha kept remembering and seeing how critical she was I couldn't help but feel bad for Samantha. She wasn't what her mother thought and Samantha really loved her mother and took her words to heart and it was sad to see how she was dealing with the loss of her mother. There theres the whole thing with Ian and his family that could cause a bit of drama, that and the whole fact that he lives in a total different country. Overall this was a pretty good contemporary read. Great if you like a slow burn romance, family and drama free zone.

I have read every book in this series. Another great addition to the series. This is one of my go to authors. She never disappoints.

This is book 11 in the Haven Point series and could be read as a stand alone. The re-occuring characters from the series are well explained. Samantha is designing Gemma's wedding dress. Gemma's family has arrived at Haven Point to spend the summer before the wedding. Ian is going to study the salmon in the lake and plans to use Samantha's dock as his base. Now Ian and his two children are worming their way into her heart. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

RaeAnne Thayne is one of my favorite authors and her Haven Point series is an absolutely wonderful series to read. Her latest is Summer at Lake Haven and it’s a thoroughly entertaining story. Samantha Fremont is settling into a good work routine and has sworn off men for the foreseeable future. She wants to concentrate on herself and doesn’t need the distraction of a man in her life. Besides, she’s got too much on her plate right now with the wedding gowns to design and taking care of puppies. What she didn’t expect was for the house next door to be rented out to a handsome, brooding Englishman and his 2 adorable children.

Ian Summerhill has come to Lake Haven to attend his sister’s wedding and enjoy a summer vacation before he returns to England to perform his duty. Knowing his life is going to change, he wants to do what he loves and study the salmon habitat in Lake Haven. He knows that his kids are drawn to Sam and her puppies but why does she have to be so darn attractive and easy to talk to, when he knows nothing could come of it? He fights it but for some reason he can’t stop kissing her.

Isn’t it always the case that when there is something you don’t want, you find it is exactly what you need? Sam may not want a man in her life but Ian turns out to be exactly the right man for her. Her younger self fell head over heels in love with any boy she was dating and never could make the relationships last. Now that she’s alone, she’s trying to break that habit and do things slower and with some thought. Each time she’s with Ian she finds good qualities that she likes about him and of course there are those kisses. She knows he’s leaving right after the wedding but it doesn’t stop her from enjoying the little time she has with him and his children.

The author has created a charming small town, with diverse characters, and made it a place you would want to live. But all good things are coming to an end and it’s going to be a little sad to leave it. Summer at Lake Haven was an entertaining story woven with puppies, adorable children and a reluctant couple. Both were scared to take the leap of faith and take a chance on love. It was fun watching them fight their attraction and satisfying when they realize they are right for one another. Summer at Lake Haven is a charming addition to the series and ends the series on a high note.
