This was a good read. It advances Liza's story further than the tv show has, as she becomes a grandmother and her daughter expects her to give up her career to babysit. It felt weird reading this and knowing that the tv show was so different. Who knows, maybe the tv show was going to go in that direction if they had aired new episodes over the summer. The writing was typical chick lit. I just had a hard time getting past the plot advancing so much!

I didn’t enjoy this book nearly as much as I wanted to. Maybe it’s because I didn’t read the first book and haven’t watched the tv show. I suggest reading the first book before reading this one!

OMG- Liza is 49 in this sequel to Younger. AND, her friend Kelsey has convinced her to adapt her story for television so she's in Los Angeles where she's dealing with a snippy young star who will play her. In typical Liza style, she finds herself attracted to Hugo Fielding. who has been cast in the show. She's conflicted about so many things-including whether she wants to stay in LA or go back to New York. This has many of the same themes as Younger, the most prominent of which is Liza's attraction to younger men and workplace romance. Fans of the series will be happy to see how things have ended up for the characters- all of whom get a nod, at least, in this sequel which will mean more to fans of the series than to those who are new to it. I enjoyed this book very much. Im a huge fan of the show younger so this book was so interesting to me and i was able to understand Lizas life and why she made the decisions she made. I highly recommend this book.

I was super excited to pick up this book as I'm a huge fan of the show. The concept sounded like a really fun mix of the book world Younger portrays and the TV industry. However, I found Older to be a weird blend of sequel-to-the-first-book and a meta nod to the TV show. I wish the author would have picked one lane or the other and stuck to it. There were so many good ideas in here (the different relationships, Liza's personal struggles), but ultimately it fell flat for me.

Perfect follow up to one of my favorite books and series. Right now with tv status on hiatus I love visiting this world. Great concept. Great story

I haven't read Younger or watched the TV show, but that didn't stop me from enjoying Older. Liza has written a book that may get turned into a pilot. On the eve of her fiftieth birthday, and with little money in the bank, this is very welcome news. She leaves NY for LA to write the first episode, leaving her pregnant and needy daughter behind.
Liza is soon faced with a dilemma. Should she abandon her own chance at finding happiness to care for her grandchild? It is the type of decision many of us might face, and it poses a thoughtful discussion amidst some fun adventures. How much of your life do you owe to your grown children?
I liked most of the characters and feel like it would be worth my while to read Younger. A backyard read that was light and refreshing on a hot summer day. With so much stay at home time, I may even look for the TV show.

I absolutely love the show Younger, so when I saw that a sequel was coming out I knew I had to read it! The book was a bit meta if you've seen the show because it is about the adaptation of the original novel into the show and there was a lot of name dropping of the actors/directors of the show. With all of the characters I know and love, the book felt familiar and I loved getting new insight into their lives.

What a fun read! True confession: I haven’t read Younger or watched the TV series but guess what? That’s not necessary to enjoy Older. It’s a treat by itself!

Only a near tragedy back home makes her realize what is truly important.

Pamela Redmond weaves several themes through this comedy/romance. What do we expect from our mothers, our friends and our lovers? By rejecting the expectations of others, Liza finds what she really wants to do in the second half of her life. Older delivers unforgettable characters, snappy dialogue, great locations - the Manhattan art world and behind the scenes looks at TV filming in Hollywood and New York. 5 stars.

this is a continuation of younger. i love this tv show so very much. it's hilarious and sutton foster is just amazing. hilary duff is the best. nico tortorella is sexy as fuck. but this book. just skip it. watch the show.

When presented two options, which path will you follow? This is exactly what Liza is facing when she finds herself in a new city facing a new relationship. Does she want to return to the life before this - to everything comfortable - or take the riskier path?

I found Liza to be very entertaining and the challenges she faces realistic (I mean we don't all live a Hollywood lifestyle, but life can certainly be full of risky life changes). I could picture this playing out in a movie in my head and it was one I'd see again and again.

I was very excited to get my hands on ‘Older,’ the sequel to Pamela Redmond’s previous book and eponymous TV show, ‘Younger.’ Especially since filming of the current season was halted in spring of 2020 in New York due to COVID-19. The story was a fun and quick read. Liza Miller has written a thinly-veiled book about her life pretending to be a twenty-something woman in the publishing industry while actually being a forty-something from New Jersey who paused her career in publishing to be a stay-at-home mother. Her book has been greenlit to become a TV show and her friend, Kelsey, who she previously worked with is the showrunner. There were tons of nods to the real TV Land show, including references to actors involved in the show. The book was entertaining, albeit short and a little rushed. The writing was a bit bland and used clichés, which put me off. The end was sweet, but a little too perfect. All loose ends were tied up very conveniently. Overall a fun, light summer read.

I loved the book Younger. Such a really cool concept that was later turned into a really cute tv show. This is the follow up to that book. I don’t believe in giving out too much info about the story line, but I will say that I hope they keep the series going to explore the story lines in this follow up novel. Id love to see where it goes. I actually think I liked this more than Younger. I definitely recommend.

All the way back in 2009, I read Pamela Redmond Satran’s novel “Younger,” about a woman in her 40s who, post-divorce, pretends to be in her 20s to get a job at the publishing company she worked at back when she was young before she quit to raise her daughter. For the last 5 years, I have really enjoyed the TV adaptation, which I think is even better. It’s also quite different, not just because it’s gone on for many seasons but also because it added characters, removed others, changed existing characters including some times their names, etc. Now comes this sequel, set 5 years later than the book, in which the main character (now named Liza like in the show instead of Alice like in the first book), has written a novel called “Younger” about her experiences, which is possibly going to be adapted into a tv show. So, very, very meta. In fact I think possibly the way this book is spinning it is that the original novel “Younger” which I read in our world is the fictional novel this book’s Liza wrote? All this was very distracting and took me at least the first third to settle in to reading it. After which it was cute-ish, but nothing special, and this version of the main character is kind of annoying. If you’ve only watched the tv show, I’d say don’t bother with this one as it’s definitely not a sequel to the show (Charles doesn’t even exist as a character in this universe!); if you’re a fan of the first book it’s an okay and reasonably fun read but definitely not a must read.

So I was shocked to find out the TV show that I love, Younger is actually based on a book. (How did I miss that??) But when I read the synopsis for Older I was excited to read it. I didn't read Younger, but with knowing the TV show I was able to be ok.

I loved that this felt like a behind the scenes peak at what happens to get a book adapted into a tv show and how that's a totally different process.

I loved seeing the characters in the book (and want to go read Younger now), and love the whitty dialogue and the stories of friendship, love and family. That getting older isn't a bad thing, but at some age you need to learn to speak up for what you want.

Recommend this book for fans of her first book and the TV show!

If you are a fan of the TV series, "Younger," you're going to love this book! It is a delicious romp that features all of the fun and sexiness you love in the show, plus some Easter eggs to delight you. I don't want to reduce this book to a television companion piece-- there are some really interesting takes on sexism and ageism, particularly in light of how those topics are addressed in the first book, and of course, some thought-inducing approaches to female friendship. Come for Maggie and Kelsey, stay for Hugo! I can't wait to buy copies of this for all the Younger-lovers in my life!

If you’re a fan of the show Younger, you must read this sequel! It was a fun quick read showcasing Liza’s life, the evolution of her friendships, romance and the struggle between identity, family, and realizing your dreams. Can easily picture the words & plot coming to life with many of of our fave series actors & new ones who are introduced to their lives.

Fans of the tv show YOUNGER will love diving a bit past the show's timeline to see what happens to Liza, Josh, Kelsey, Maggie, Caitlin, and some new-to-me characters that were not in the show but perhaps were in the original book.
