I have never had two characters get on my nerves like West and Pansy.

This is my first and maybe my last Maisey Yates book, her writing style just isn't for me.

I really thought this was going to be a Maisey Yates slam-dunk romance for me. I love it when she pairs the inexperienced and feisty heroine with an older and jaded hero. Unfortunately, this one ended up being just an okay read for me.

Our heroine, Pansy (yes, that’s really her name) was strong and tough and didn’t take any BS from the townspeople or the hero, West. I loved their banter at the beginning of the book, especially when the Pansy kept giving West tickets. I enjoyed watching her work to earn the sheriff position in her small town. I also liked the introduction to Pansy’s family and look forward to their books.

For me, the biggest problem was West. I felt like he was a two-dimensional character at the beginning and didn’t get much better as the story went along. I didn’t feel his emotional attachment to Pansy, not even by the end of the book. I kept waiting to invest further into him as a character and I just couldn’t get there. As a result, Pansy and West’s relationship felt forced and stilted much of the book.

Overall, this was a quick read and I did like parts of the book, especially the heroine, but I don’t think this was one of Ms. Yates’ best stories. I found myself struggling towards the end.

Nothing better than a cowboy romance from Maisey Yates! I've read every and all of her books in the last few years and they're always so fun, juicy, and hot, and this one is no different! I love the pairing of an (innocent) ex-con and a cop trying to honor her father's legacy. It went by so quick, I wish there was more.

Maisey is one of my favorite authors, she has done it again with this book. It's a story of loss and finding yourself while finding true love. I loved this book, West was amazing and Pansy was the kind of girl that didn't take any crap off anyone. These two together really didn't make sense but they made it work for them. But can each of them let go of their past to find the love that is waiting?

Hot cowboys, strong women and lots of family make for a wild ride of a story. Learning how to overcome issues from childhood is difficult and takes a lot of work.

Whenever I am in a reading rut, I know I am in need of a cowboy romance. Maisey Yates' cowboys were my first cowboys and I have a soft spot in my heart for them.

West's story reminded me Levi Tucker's in Need Me, Cowboy. And Mrs. Yates' female leads are almost always the same: strong, beautiful female who experienced trauma or adversity in her life and she finds her confidence while falling in love with a bad boy cowboy.

Slight spoiler ahead: I have become a bit bored with the virgin storyline, but I will say it is believable in this one. So I won't knock it too much.

Yates' stories are quick, page turning reads that will make you fall in love with the scenery just as much as with the cowboy. I do love keeping up with these characters as she writes more about the town. Looking forward to see who she pairs next.

“The Bad Boy of Redemption Ranch” by Maisey Yates takes us back to Gold Valley, Oregon.

West Caldwell is one of Hank Dalton’s illegitimate sons and he’s in Gold Valley getting to know his half brothers after his life in Texas imploded. He spent time in prison after his wife framed him for fraud and now wants to start over—be the man he needs to be, not the man he thought he wanted to be.

After losing her parents as a kid, Pansy Daniels follows in her father’s footsteps by becoming a police officer in Gold Valley. Now, she wants to be police chief. She needs to follow the rules and not revert back to her wild child ways, believing if she keeps herself contained and in control, she won’t break.
But West breaks through her defenses, just like Pansy breaks through his.

In “The Bad Boy of Redemption Ranch”, we are introduced to Hope Springs Ranch and the Daniels family while also getting a hint at the identity of another of Hank Dalton’s sons.
It is also a story about redemption and hope.

Longtime readers may also notice this isn’t the first time Ms. Yates writes a wrongfully accused ex-con hero (Levi Tucker in “Need Me, Cowboy”).
