The story of Susan and Chris. I liked how it is told from both of their points of view, and the story unfolds sharing their secrets throughout the book.

It is based on persuasion, so it was fun to work out who was based on who!

'ALL STIRRED UP' is one of my favorite debut romances this year. I'm so glad I was approved. I really appreciate it. It is a Persuasion retelling and I loved every minute reading it. Here we follow Susan Napier, who is the descendant of the famous Elliot Napier, proprietor of The Elliott's (a very famous chain of restaurants). When her grandfather was alive, under him, Christopher Baker, worked as an apprentice and Susan and Christopher fell in love madly and started having a beautiful relationship. Then life happened and due to a series of misunderstandings and betrayals by family members, they drifted apart. Ten years pass by, now Chris is a hot, handsome and talented celebrity chef back from New York to open a restaurant and Susan is the owner of the only remaining Elliott's restaurant in Edinburgh. The book is all about them navigating their feelings towards each other after so many years and discovering that the love they had buried deep underneath is indeed oozing out like oil from the cracks that each other's presence creates. The circumstances that ultimately lead to the ending are so well chronologically organized, I was just floating. I'm no expert in food but the culinary passages were just making my mouth water. All the characters had a finished ending with no loopholes which made me so happy, because sometimes books just forget about subsidiary characters. The way grief is handled in a nuanced way making way for romcom to take the bigger picture was absolutely remarkable. The epilogue was very well written. I had a little problem with understanding the essence of the book's title but it was fine. The cover is so colorful and pretty. I loved each and every character. The sisterhood emerging on the surface and how the three sisters Meg, Jules and Susan are so different that they handle grief differently, is well executed. The love for food was that bonded me instantly to the book and I'm so glad I read it. Sometimes it felt that a lot of characters were suddenly being thrown at me so that was one point were it could have been slowed. It was a solid 4.5 star read for me. I highly recommend this book especially if you love food and love romcom. It was so well executed, I will read anything the writer puts forth in future.

I was given an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I wanted to love this book; Scotland! Cooking! It had all the makings of an amazing rom-com. But it was mediocre for me. The plot was more focused on descriptions of Edinburgh, of houses (the wallpaper!), etc. The plot moved slowly and I didn’t particularly care for the characters.

I don’t think I’d pick this one up again, nor would I recommend it to friends.

This was a fun take on Persuasion, and I really enjoyed the restaurant setting. The food descriptions left me hungry!

The pacing was too slow, with no romantic development between the protagonist. It was mostly focused on foods and restaurant. The side characters were irritating. I was bored throughout the whole book.

It was weird that the romance doesn't even start until the first half of the book. It might appeal to people who like food or remodeling?

The only good thing I like the cover. It's cute.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced review copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book is inspired by Jane Austen's Persuasion, and even though this story is incredibly modern, it still kept most of the bones of the original and does justice to the original material. It's a wonderful second-chance romance filled with heartbreaking and heart-swelling moments aplenty. Susan and Chris separate in the worst of circumstances, and they both go off and see massive changes in their lives over 10 years. When they meet again, Chris is opening a restaurant, which is sure to be a smash hit, while Susan is trying to save the last restaurant left in her grandfather's empire. Warning: this book will make you hungry.

I am a big Jane Austen fan. That being said it is hard to read a contemporary book that tries to keep so close to the original books story line - the original was written in 1817! I liked the characters in All Stirred Up and felt it could have been a good story if the author had taken a more broad approach. The main characters don't really start interacting until the half way part of the book. Had the author started with the premise then written an original story it would have been MUCH better.

Susan Napier is trying to save her family's once thriving high-end restaurant empire that only has a single place left the original Elliott's in Edinburgh due to mismanagement and in the case of her father, neglect.. Everyone loved a good Jane Austen adaptation and All Stirred Up does not disappoint. Susan while dealing with her scatterbrained family, rampant sexism, an annoying reporter and another interfering family member is pitted against the former love of her life who is opening a fancy new restaurant in Edinburgh. Will the competition rekindle their once flaming romance or will they both crash and burn under the strain and close quarters?

I'm going to be TOTALLY honest here and say that I DNF'd this book at about the 45% mark. I REALLY try to not do that with books when I'm gifted an ARC because I feel I owe it to the publisher and author to give it a fair review, but I just have too many books in my pile that I an anxious to read to keep plugging away on something that felt like a chore. I was really intrigued by the premise of this book, but I found it to be tedious to actually read and I just couldn't make myself care about the story or the characters. There are plenty of readers who loved this book, so I have no doubt it was just not a good fit for my personal tastes or my current mood or something, but this wasn't a winner for me.

I'm giving it 3 stars because I don't feel like it's fair to rate it lower than that when I read less than half of the book.

This was a lovley read. I enjoyed almost being walked around Edinburgh as the descriptions of the city were detailed and picturesque. I could imagine myself in this story as a by-stander, watching and willing it to all be OK in the end.
Thanks to the publishers and Net Galley for the ARC copy for review.

DNF'd - this one was not for me.

I found the third person perspective and detailed descriptions of the Scottish setting took me out of the story.

Also I found Susan a bit frustrating as a character.

I found this book very slow. It was hard to stay focused when reading it. To much time was spent focusing on the restaurant instead of the relationships between the characters.

Inspired by Austen's Persuasion, Moore tells the story of a second chance love story between Susan Napier and Chris Baker. Susan is trying to save Elliot's, her family last remaining flagship restaurant in Edinburgh and Chris is there to open up his own restaurant. The two main characters did not have much interaction until a bit over halfway through the book. Despite its slow pacing, I still enjoyed this book.

Who doesn't love cooking, romance, and a Sam Heughan look a like? I enjoyed the comedy and romance of this book.

Susan Napier is trying to save her families restaurant business at the same time her former flame, Chris Baker, is opening a new restaurant just down the street. This book brings comedy, family drama, descriptions of scrumptious foods, and of course romance.

A Jane Austen Persuasion retelling? Sign me up. This is about two chiefs who are former exes running into each other again and both opening up restaurants and finding themselves crashing into each other at every turn. While this is a modern and somewhat new retelling of Persuasion, I sadly just couldn’t get into as much as I would have liked. The pacing was a bit slow and it mainly focused on each of the characters’ restaurant remolding. The romance didn’t exactly happen till about 60%into the book. I connect really connect to any of the characters and all the family drama. In the end, this retelling wasn’t for me, but hey maybe it will be for

Thank you NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books and Brianne Moore for gifting me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
I’ll start by saying I have not read a single Jane Austin novel so the fact that this is a re-telling has zero impact on my opinion! I have no idea what any of those books are even about to be honest. Such a bad book lover!
The first half of this book is less romance and more restaurant. This is a slow burn, my favorite kind of romance to read! The steam level in this was VERY tame, but still enjoyable to read without being overly boring. I wouldn’t say this blew me away by any means, but i’m not upset I read it

I honestly did not enjoy this book that much. I felt that the plot was way to slow. I tried my best to enjoy it, but I could not.

I DEVOURED this book. In multiple ways, because the food descriptions had me starving the entire time.

I'm a sucker for an Austen Retelling. I'm an extra sucker for a Persuasion retelling because it's my favorite. I can be picky about the retellings for this one because of that though. I adored All Stirred Up. It was amazing, and I read it in one sitting.
