High on angst, high on chemistry, high on suspense. This is the first book of a trilogy so there is a cliffhanger. Not having read any other books by this author, I found the beginning a little startling. I felt I had missed the first 10 minutes of the start of the movie. But like any good movie, you are immersed in the story and invested in the characters to continue and find out their story. Off to read the next in this series. Hope Rick’s buddies get their story!

Savage Hunger is the first book in the Savage trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones. Rick Savage, but they call him Savage and for a reason. He can make you laugh and then rip your heart out. No one knows that more than me, Candace Marks, the woman he left bleeding from the heart. I loved him. Lord help me, I’ve never stopped loving him. Now, I’m engaged to another man, a brutal man I’m trapped into marrying, when to my shock, Savage returns home. Savage who I haven't heard from in years. I want to hate him. I have ever reason to hate him, but I can’t. I still love him and I fear he will save me just to leave me bleeding one last time. He stirs my desires, a dark, delicious, and dangerous man destined to hurt me and leave me. This time I’m not sure I'll survive.

Savage Hunger is a book that started off checking off all the right boxes. The characters were are multidimensional and the second chance aspect and danger were well played. I liked the secondary characters, which fans of the author will recognize from the Walker series. The chemistry level was high, and there was a good balance of sweet and intrigue. However, I was not aware going in that this was not going to be the start of the story. I felt like just when things were starting to click into place and I was really rooting for our couple, and considering finding the other series because I like the secondary characters, the book ended. Not at a happy for now kind of spot, but at the start of an action scene! If the description had warned me, or maybe if I had read the related series, I might have been prepared, but I was not. So, I highly recommend that you pick up the whole series and have the next ready to go if you are going to read this. Now, you have been given the warning I was not. It rather ruined some of my good feeling toward the book and left me a bit frustrated.

Savage Hunger is a book with plenty of angst, but it is just the start of this couple's story. Be prepared with the following books, or the need to find them.

This one has a cliffhanger which I failed to notice before requesting the title. Savage Hunger is ex army Rick Savage and Candace, the love of his Life's story, about their beginning, separation , reunion and then it ends as the next chapter is continued in Book 2.

I enjoyed the passion and raw character of Rick also their chemistry is explosive and yet sweet which made it a pretty good read.

Tried this book based on the other good reviews and that I usually enjoy these type of books but I am afraid on this occasion there was far too much unnecessary swearing in it for me so I could not continue.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this but I’m afraid it wasn’t for me.

Love this first part to a new trilogy.
Candace and Rick meet one rainy night, and sparks fly. They have an instant connection that leads to him moving in and them planning a future together. Then he deploys and she swears to wait for him. Instead of Rick coming back and them living happily ever after, he sends Candace a "Dear John" letter and walks out of her life.
Eight years later something deadly is going on in the world of politics, and Candace is right in the center of it. Rick is sent in to do a job, but he knows without a shadow of a doubt it is Candace he will protect. He just needs to prove to her that his leaving was for her own good, and he will never leave again.
Total cliff hanger, can't wait for part 2.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book is about Candace and Rick. They fall in love but Rick leaves her vowing to come back but things happen that keep him from returning to her until one day 10 years later. He comes back into her life only to find out she's engaged to a man she doesn't love. Can they figure out all the secrets between them and stay alive long enough to be together again?

I loved this story, Candace was feisty and strong and Rick was very alpha male. I loved seeing their first meeting when chapters sometimes switch between the past and the present but we still have a lot of information missing during all those years they spent apart. I really hated Gabriel he seems like a creep and the only reason Candace is with him is because she's trying to protect her father. I loved that Rick knew right away that she wasn't in love with Gabriel and that something bad was going on between the two of them. There were some sex scenes but I liked that this book was very much plot with sex instead of sex with plot.

Be warned that this does end on a cliffhanger as this is the first book in a trilogy. So i'm excited to find out what happens to Candace and Rick in future books. I would definitely recommend this book if you like some sex with your plot, action, intrigue, mystery, a lot of the characters are military and just overall the story kept me reading and engaged. A fun read.

Savage Hunger, book one of the Savage trilogy.

Enter Rick Savage, surgeon, killer, lover, friend and protector. He's found his way through some dark times and landed with Walker Security. When his past comes back to haunt him it opens up old wounds. This opportunity gives him a chance to right the wrong from eight years ago when he walked away from his heart. Now it's time to protect her and tell her the truth.
Candace Marks was broken when he left. She's barely put her pieces back together and she's definitely in over her head with her "engagement". Yet how can she trust that Savage isn't going to leave her again, something she will not recover from. And with the danger increasing she had to trust his killer instincts.

What do you do when the man you loved more than anything leaves you in a fear John letter? You survive and well your heart stays but you try to move in in Candaces case. She’s working a job she loves and she’s engaged to be married. After so many years what more could she want ?

Rick left her because he had no choice. The man he’s become never was worthy of her. He’s forced back into her world and it doesn’t matter that she has another mans ring on her finger, she’s his and always has been.

This is book one of three and there is a cliff hanger. We are just getting started and can’t wait for more.
