A typical romantic suspense from the love inspired suspense line. But I tend to enjoy those because they tend to be more suspense than romance which is how I like my romantic suspense. And even though the book will keep me on the edge of my seat the whole time I'm reading it I know its going to give me a happy ending. Plus it was nice to get another adventure with the Brooklyn K-9 unit.

Explosive Situation by Terri Reed is one exceptional romantic suspense. These characters created a lure like no other. I was addicted! The suspense was done well. I kept wondering what next or where the characters would be left afterwards. Every page held danger. Risks were taken and consequences were felt. Mystery, a bubbling romance, and an unknown enemy can be found in this exciting read. This book was a clean read with action-packed scenes and high intense situations. Plus, I am a total softy for the K-9 officers and their fury partners. Overall, this novella was well-crafted. Terri Reed is a talented writer with a knack for designing the best suspense stories.

This is another exciting, suspenseful, and romantic story in the “True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn” series. The two main characters, Henry and Olivia, were people of faith and integrity, and it was easy to hope that they would find their happily-ever-after together. There was enough action in this story to keep me wanting to see what happened next, and there’s a plot twist at the end of the book that I did not see coming. I have enjoyed reading about the police dogs and their training, and Police Dog Cody does excellent work in this book. It’s an entertaining book, and I recommend this whole series if you like stories filled with suspense, hope, and faith.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

A well-written book that continues nicely in the series. Read well as a stand-alone. I like the way the story developed and the author did a good job setting up the climax of the plot.

Detective Henry Roarke's is under investigation after being assumed of being a a brute. Olivia is the officer investigating Henry and seems to have got in the cross hairs of a bomber who seems to be targeting Henry.

There is so much love about this book. I loved that there was somewhat two mystery going on, not really mystery but the fact that Olivia was investigating Henry and trying to find the truth of what happened to a case that has him under the fire. Then theres the whole bomber thing trying to figure out who it is and why Henry was the target to keep things interesting. There is the bit of the simmering attraction between Henry and Olivia that I loved watching. There was the constant worry of when the bomber would strike and watching Henry deal with teenager issues who is fighting to be an adult. Theres just so much going on to keep the readers interested and I really enjoyed reading it.

Explosive Situation
True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn
By Terri Reed

Detective Henry Roarke has been stuck in the office since he was falsely accused of using excessive force. Now with a new IA officer on the case, Henry is starting to feel the stress. He needs to be out on the street doing his job with his partner Cody. But until he is cleared of all charges he is stuck filing and training with the other K-9 officers.

Adding to Henry's stress is his little sister Riley. For the last 6 years, he and Riley have been it and she is eager to get out from under his protective wings. When a bombing threat is sent to Henry's phone he knows he has to act fast as Riley is in the vicinity of the threat location. IA officer Lieutenant Olivia Vance is more than a little annoyed when Detective Roarke leaves in the middle of her questioning. When Henry on restricted duties she feels compelled to go along with him to ensure that he follows protocol and finds his sister in time.

Olivia is good at her job but the animosity Internal Affairs officers face is not one of its perks. She's determined to get to the truth about the night in question. Henry seems on the up-and-up but there are no witnesses to verify either version of events. She needs to get a feed of how he works and whether he is as good as his fellow officers' claim.

Explosive Situation finds Henry and those close to him being targetted - does it have anything to do with the potential charges against Henry or is it something else? Only time will tell as Henry works to keep those close safe and to keep his heart unentangled, which is becoming harder to do the more he gets to know Olivia Vance.

This is yet another good read from the True Blue K-9 Unit series. This book follows the Brooklyn Unit but some of the officers that were in the original True Blue K-9 Unit series are well represented in this series. And come on everyone loves a good dog story and this one has dogs aplenty. Want to get away from your everyday routine? This is an excellent way to spend a few hours unwinding from your ordinary.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

3.5 Stars! I don’t read as much inspirational romance as I would like to and I feel like with this book, I’ve found my favourite Harlequin imprint and it just might be Love Inspired suspense. This wasn’t exactly chilling to the bone of suspense. But what it was was a nice even wholesome story of love and arson and handing over the reigns to God, set around a New York-K9 police unit.

I believe this book is part of a series called True Blue K-9 Unit: Brooklyn Series. I haven’t read any of the series and even though some incidents in previous books seem to be referenced here, even as a stickler for reading in order, like with most Harlequin series, it’s written by different authors, so it’s not at all necessary to have read the first book in the series without checking out the others. This is my first book in the series and it was easy to follow.

It felt a bit odd reading a book whose premise is the investigation of an allegation of police brutality (not race-related in this case but still abuse of power related). Obviously this book was written prior to The (very necessary) Global Reckoning around policing black people but I still found it interesting seeing the negative feelings by police around investigations into alleged misconduct by fellow officers in the Internal Affairs department. Well and good, in this case clearly the hero was innocent and was being framed, but the fact that “good” officers are against the discovery of truth by independent parties to me exemplifies in a way, why the “bad” officers are able to get away with misconduct when there is the conspiracy of silence not to call a spade a spade.

But I digress majorly. That is not what the book was at all about. The premise is that Henry is alleged to have used excessive force in arresting a young man, an allegation he denies vehemently. However, Olivia, a Lieutenant (and superior Officer) from Internal Affairs, is investigating him, and there is chemistry, which they both know they have to suppress especially when Henry is being stalked by an obsessive and malicious bomber who is determined to destroy everyone Henry shows an interest in, including Olivia.

I liked this Inspirational Romance. I thought the faith messages of letting go of the reigns to God were accessible and relatable. I think more could have been done with the theme of forgiveness which was only briefly touched on. I think the spiritual messages in this were quite lightly handled but clearly done so that the characters were clearly people of faith, but even those who don’t believe could comfortably read them because the messages are subtle.

This isn’t my first romance from this author, and God-willing it won’t be my last. I enjoy her writing and I really enjoyed this Inspirational Suspense imprint. Many thanks to Harlequin Books Love Inspired Suspense for sending me an advanced copy of this romance through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A duke's daughter, Adela fights for the chance to fall in love with a worthy man of her own choosing.

The eleventh and final installment in the Hagenheim Saga, follows Adela the youngest daughter of the the Duke of Hagenheim, she is artistically gifted, with an eye for color and beauty. She meets a kindred spirit in the marketplatz, a talented woodcarver, Frederick. Though engaged in a courtship with a neighboring member of the nobility, she can't help but be drawn to Frederick, who understands the way that she sees the world.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet, wholesome story of sacrifice and friendship. I liked how Adela has learned from observing her family members, yet isn't afraid to make her own way, and she's alright if that doesn't mean strapping on a sword or bow. She is thoughtful and kind, and I liked how her parents take time to listen to her and respect her judgements, while still being protective of her.

Frederick is a noble son, caring for his family, and working hard on his family's farm. He does his best to protect his mother and sisters from their father's drunken behaviour. I loved his strong moral compass, and his heart for putting others first. He is probably one of my favorite heroes in this series, because though humble of birth and situation, that didn't matter, he still fought for what was right.

This was an engaging read, and I loved the strong themes of family and faith, along with well developed side characters and storylines, secrets and character development. I really appreciated this story, with a thoughtful heroine who stands up for herself but also doesn't need to take up a weapon. Well written and a fitting conclusion to this memorable series--though I'm against Toby popping up somewhere in the future!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Who and/or what are Cody, Olivia, and Henry? Why are we focusing on Henry? What has happened? What is he accused of? When Olivia is speaking with him at his office, what happens? where does he rush off to? Wow! I did not expect what I found out in this story as to why the things were happening were being done! It was a shock why, and still a bit of a puzzle, but then as I think about the situation, I can understand the anger because of what the person was told. It was an interesting read to the K-9 series. So much fun. I recommend this book!

Explosive Situation by Terri Red is one of the best Harlequin Suspense books I have read. The author was able to showcase the characters personalities so well. She created situations that were relatable to today’s headlines.

Henry is a K9 officer that is under investigation for excessive force. Olivia is the Internal Affairs Lieutenant that is investigating the case. I really loved these characters and how the author gave us a glimpse into the life of an IA officer.

You get to see both sides of the situation. Through Olivia’s eyes you wonder about his temper and protectiveness of his sister that he is raising. From Henry’s side you see the frustration of no one seeing what happened, the body cam not working and wondering if someone is messing with him.

At the same time Henry is receiving texts about bomb threats that are very close to where is sister happens to be. Figuring out the bomber while under investigation gets complicated along with not developing feelings for the officer that is investigating him.

I highly recommend this read.it is part of a series and can be read as a stand-alone. However if you have been following the series you get to see development in other cases which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Sexual content - there may have been a kiss
Violence - bombs, kidnapping, threats

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

complimentary copy given for honest review and opinion.
This book was a great wholesome romance. It had mystery and budding romance with two people overcoming loss in their own ways. I loved the attention that the animals received in this book as well. Terri Reed did an awesome job including scriptures and prayer in this book. Wonderful for all ages!

"Explosive Situation" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the fourth book in a series, but each novel can be read as a stand alone. Detective Henry has been accused of using excessive force when arresting a young man, and Olivia is the officer assigned to investigate the charges. During their initial interview, Henry gets a text warning of a bomb about to detonate near his sister. He puts family first and jeopardizes his career by cutting the interview short and taking his bomb sniffing dog into action when he's supposed to stay at the office. Before long, Olivia's also targeted in an attempt to force her to find Henry guilty. It appears that Henry is being set up, but can they determine who and why before someone is killed?

The suspense stayed high as new threats against Henry, his sister, and Olivia kept coming one after another. The characters reacted realistically to events and were likable. Henry and Olivia quickly came to admire the others character and personality (as well as their looks). Henry was good at his job and concerned about Olivia's safety, but he respected her competence. Olivia didn't want to be coddled but was sensible enough to accept protection and backup when needed. Henry built Olivia up with his words even though it was her job to investigate him. They were a good match.

The characters briefly talked about trusting God to keep loved ones safe. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting suspense.
