This sweet, inspirational collection of Amish novellas centers around finding love at a singing. Hymn of Praise: Sharon Lambert and Jay Smoker have been friends for a long time. Lately, Jay has been thinking of Sharon differently. They begin to spend time together and Sharon invites Jay to her family's home to serve dinner and sing traditional hymns for their English guests. When Jay decides that this goes against his doctrinal beliefs, can the two of them manage to compromise and find love? Amazing Grace: Dave Esh is wracked with guilt after a recent tragedy. Alice Blank, an acquaintance from school and youth group, invites him to join an informal singing group that performs for community members who are in need. Dave has doubts whether he'll find peace or even enjoy himself. Will Alice's friendship help Dave to forgive himself the way God already has? Great is Thy Faithfulness: Darlene Bender's mother has been battling cancer and she can't understand why God would allow someone as wonderful as her mother to suffer the way she has. She finds strength in her singing group and friends. Andrew Detweiler senses that Darlene needs a confidant and he befriends her. Love begins to blossom between them and Darlene begins to realize that God has been with her the entire time. O Holy Night: Elaine Lantz and her parents have just moved to Bird-in-Hand from New Wilmington. Elain has left behind some painful events and a group of deceitful friends and worries that she will never be able to trust anyone again. But the Bird-in-Hand youth don't give up easily and Calvin King is determined to make Elaine feel welcome. Perhaps Elaine can find both love and friendship in her new hometown. I discovered Amy's books because I'd been reading a lot of Beverly Lewis's books and was looking for more Amish fiction. I discovered her Kauffman Amish Bakery series and have been reading her books ever since. She really has a knack for writing relatable characters and putting them into situations that anyone can empathize with. This group of stories was no exception and I really enjoyed it.

Sweet, inspirational Amish Collection includes four stories that can be read together or as standalones.

Romance is bound strike a chord when the young people of Bird-in-Hand join together to bring their community the gift of song.

I really enjoyed all four of these short story novellas. It was very nice how each story kinda related to the previous one, with some of the same characters.

I would recommend this book, An Amish Singing to all. And can't wait for Amy's next book to be released.

"An Amish Singing" contains four short stories, which are tied together by the presence of common characters and events. Although the genre is romance, the story themes play a large role and deal with quite serious concerns: grief, illness, resistance to change, shyness, personal tragedy, aging, faith crisis. I liked the connections among the stories and how one story led right into the next. The idea of singing for guests and for others in the community was quite unique among the many novels that I have read about Amish people and their culture. The characters are realistically portrayed as people of faith, flawed yet willing to keep trying to do better and to serve others. This is a clean novel without strong language or descriptions of intimacy or violence. The Christian message is overt and runs through all four stories as a key element of the plot. Readers of novels about Amish people should appreciate the new plot structure in addition to the emphasis on service to others and emerging from struggles with a stronger faith.

I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

This is a sweet collection of stories about a group of young Amish friends who decide to be a blessing to their community by singing hymns to those who are hurting or ill. As they are serving together, some of their lifelong friendships begin to turn into something much deeper. I enjoyed each one of these stories. It was easy to emphasize with the difficulties and heartaches faced by those in the community and among this group of friends. The stories flowed very well together, and each romance was a sweet one. I loved the emphasis of trusting God during difficult times and reaching out to those who need encouragement. I have always enjoyed Amy Clipston’s books, and I think this is one of her best yet.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This book contains four novellas with a backdrop of the theme of singing. The four entries complete a larger one that continues chronologically and shares the love stories of four Amish couples. The young people love to sing together to bless others, but also each face their own set of problems and misunderstandings. As the couples work through things, their faith grows, as does their love. I liked the first one best, but that could be because it introduced them all. The characters are endearing and the stories tug at the heart. This collection would make great winter reading. I received a copy through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

An Amish Singing has four different stories. Each one takes place in Bird-In-Hand, Pa. There is a group of four friends and they go around singing different hymns for people who don't get out very much. This makes them feel good about doing this. It also brings happiness to the ones who they sing too. I really enjoyed reading this book. I didn't want to put it down. I loved the characters and the book was very well written.

An Amish Singing is complied with four friends that sing together to share the gospel and what the plain life is to the English world. The friends gather at Sharon's house for dinner and singing. It gives the English a taste of the gospel and later in a meal setting they ask questions.

I enjoyed this concept and the stories of the four friends. Starting with Sharon's story, she is now in a relationship with Jay who loves to hear Sharon sing. She is full of grace and is kind. However, when he witnesses one of the singings, he wages a war within himself of the sacredness of the Amish hymns. This war hurts his relationship with Sharon and together they reconcile what love really means. One of the things about the Amish is that they do not share the gospel, their life displays the simplicity of the gospel. So I liked how sharing the gospel is about keeping it simple.

Each of the stories reflect life and the pursuit of love. The backdrop of each story is the singing and the friendships of these group of friends. Each story reminded me of the saying Be Kind everyone is fighting a hard battle. These battles were self-righteousness, shame, rejection, and fear and each was overcome by love. The simplicity of the gospel.

A special thank you to Zondervan Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

A beautiful group of stories by Amy Clipston. A beautifully written book about eight young people from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. There are very good messages in each of these stories. I highly recommend this book.

A delightful compilation of 4 short Amish stories all centered around a group of young friends who like to sing church hymns.

My favorite story was Great Is Thy Faithfulness as it reminded me to trust God's will. I needed that reminder in so many areas of my life currently.

Another novel that I would have no problem letting a higher middle-grade reader read. Very clean as you would expect from Any Clipston.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Zondervan Fiction, through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.

Sometimes, when you think you have nothing to give to someone in need....you give of yourself. It is the gift that costs no money, but gives the best gift of your time and effort. Well, here are the stories of those gifts of giving.....the journey to make those gift happen and the joy of giving of self to others. You will love the journey of these couples and the families they impact. And maybe, just maybe, you will find the desire to give of yourself, also. It is a gift that has a value beyond money, beyond words and that may last or impact a lifetime!!

This book contains four sweet novellas. A group of young people in an Amish community find a way to bring happiness to others in their community who have been sick or grieving and to sing and share their Gospel with non-Amish guests at dinners served in an Amish home. The stories share a sweet story of romance among those in the singing group. There is continuity in the stories, even though each features a different couple finding the way together.

I loved the stories and each one was enjoyable to read. The stories are uplifting and has its own Amish charm. The stories are of faith, love and kindness.

If you enjoy Amish books, you will definitely enjoy this book. Very fun read and inspirational stories.

The Amish have a love of music, and author Amy Clipston shows us that in her book, An Amish Singing. All four stories feature a group of young people from Bird-in-Hand, who love to sing for the enjoyment of others. I really liked that all four stories are about the same group of friends, each one focusing on a particular couple.

Clipston’s characters, and settings, are charming. I found myself fully immersed as I read these stories. Each one has a different set of circumstances that challenges faith, yet each person is drawn to God and how He works in their lives.

It was fun seeing how a couple of the families open their homes to Englishers through serving dinners. I myself have enjoyed such dinners and I encourage you to try it some time.

All in all, a really good book if you enjoy Amish fiction.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

An Amish Singing is Amy Clipston's newest anthology, and, like her others, it will not disappoint you. Each story centers around a group of friends who sing for people in their church community and as a way to share the gospel. The stories are also named after hymns, which is really great. As always, I enjoyed reading about the Amish youth in Bird in Hand. Each story was great, but my favorite was Great is Thy Faithfulness. That story centered around Darlene, whose mom has cancer. I found myself crying and rooting for her and her mom, as well as Andrew, who helped her as she struggled. My dad passed away to cancer and I could really relate to how Darlene felt. Clipston did a great job of showing the emotional toll that an illness like that takes. The other stories were also good! One centered on Jay and Sharon, who were getting to know each other, but found that they had differing views about sharing the gospel through song to outsiders. Another story was about Alice and Dave. Dave had suffered a great tragedy and Alice was determined to let him know how much she wanted to be there for him. The last story followed Cal and Elaine, who had to overcome some trust issues as she started to get to know him. As always, I have only good things to say about Amy Clipston's books. I have read every one of them to date and will continue to! I hope you get to check them out! Enjoy!
I freely offered my opinion on this story. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity!

In An Amish Singing, Amy Clipston brings a group of young people who have been friends for years. One Sunday, one of them suggests singing as a group for a church member who couldn't make it to church that day, and a tradition is born. They enjoy it so much that they also begin singing as a group when two of the mothers host English people for meals. As these seven young people work and sing together, hearts open to one another, and each one finds their life partner. (The eighth person shows up in the final story by moving into the community.)

I enjoyed each couple's story. Will Jay's strict adherence to his Amish beliefs keep him from seeing Sharon's heart behind singing for the English at her mother's meals? Can Amazing Grace bring Dave home, just like the song says? Or will a past mistake keep him lost in his grief and unable to make a commitment to Alice like his heart is telling him to do? As Darlene's faith takes a beating during her mother's chemo treatments, can Andrew be her strong shoulder, even when he believes her doubts are sinful? Can Elaine learn to trust another man when her last boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend? Can Calvin convince her that his friendship is worth taking that chance?

Readers who love Amish romance will not be disappointed with "An Amish Singing." Clipston's sweet, gentle romance takes each couple from "just friends" to "something more" in a way that seems completely natural. I like that each story was short enough to read in an evening, and that all of the characters remained the same throughout. I think you'll like this!

This is a set of four stories that are all linked together through a group of Amish friends. In each story there is a bit of romance and a lot of inspiration. I love the characters and each story. I love the idea of the friends getting together to sing to some of their friends or relatives that are feeling down. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
