It is Christmas time and Brooke Cerice, an un-mated wolf, has just landed in Portland after her great-aunt leaves her an antiques store. The will stipulates that Brooke run the business for three years before she sells it. Det. Josh Wilding, also an un-mated wolf, investigates when a reindeer calf is found in Brooke’s garden. The reindeer is from a farm run my him and his brother. Soon the store in burgled, windows are smashed, boxes are stolen and the Detective must protect Brooke and find the crooks. Oh, and about being un-mated...
This a a great Christmas read, both thrilling and romantic. From a police procedural to a mystery of finding treasures and cars and ancient vases to the paranormal of meeting a pack and being accepted and finally, to celebrating Christmas with the pack. There is nothing too violent or overly explicitly sexual so it packs (you will forgive the pun) a punch for cozy holiday reading.
I would recommend this book to my patrons.

JOY TO THE WOLVES by Terry Spear is the first book in the Red Wolf series. This one is a paranormal romantic suspense novel featuring female protagonist Brook Cerise, a red wolf shifter. Brook has just finished fulfilling the requirements of her parents will by running their antique store in Arizona for three years. She has just sold it and is looking forward to the next phase of her life when her great aunt in Portland, Oregon dies and she inherits her antique shop. Brook has re-opened her aunt’s shop and is preparing for Christmas when a young reindeer turns up in her courtyard and she becomes a suspect in its kidnapping.

Brook is a likeable protagonist. Her goals seemed clear, but not what she expected. The secondary characters were well-rounded and enhanced the story and there were a few chuckles along with the suspense, action, mystery and romance. The relationships progressed a little too quickly but the addition of a second mystery added drama, suspense and action as both cases were investigated.

Overall, this was a fun and entertaining novel with a Christmas twist and some humor to go with the mysteries and romance. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Many thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and Terry Spear for a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.

I love Christmas stories and this one was great. It's a whodunit with all the shady characters to guess from. Such a smooth paced read that didn't falter to the end. Loved all the treasures they found.

2.5 Stars. Given the title I was expecting it to be Christmas themed (its August now), and possibly a little on the cheesy side. It is definitely Christmas themed, but not cheesy. It's a wolf shifter PNR with a twist. We've got a mystery to solve...actually, we have 2! And, who doesn't love a good mystery? It has some problems however.

The characters are likable, which for me is huge (and, what saved this book from DNF for me)! The story itself, plot-wise is fine, pretty good actually. But, the writing is so stilted, there's no flow. It's almost robotic feeling. The dialogue, in particular can be almost painful in parts. It's worse in the beginning, but it's throughout.

This is not a "fated mates", or "insta-love" deal, but it weirdly went from "I don't want a relationship" to "I love you" REALLY quickly. Within a week they're throwing away everything they said they wanted and declaring their love. It just felt weird. You didn't really feel it building. You knew they were always together, because he was guarding her. And, you knew they were attracted to each other. But, it felt really abrupt. Possibly due to the stilted narrative and painful dialogue I just missed out on the budding relationship. It really was the rating killer in this instance. If it wasn't so choppy maybe I would have engaged more and their mating would've felt more believable.

What happens when you think you have fulfilled a commitment after 3 years and find out your in another. Brook sells antiques. Mainly because her parents willed her to. Then when her aunt dies she’s in another 3 year commitment for another 3 years. When attending a estate sale she gets an warning that’s a bit spooky. When a hot cop by the name of Josh accuses her of stealing a reindeer the sparks or fur flies!

I received this complimentary book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

What a lovey story. Loved the main couple. So sweet watching their love story develop. Writing style kept me captivated. Read this book in one sitting. Can’t wait for next book in series. Will most definitely read more books by this author. Great holiday read.

So much fun! I’m so glad to see that this is the first in a series because I didn’t get enough. I loved that it takes place at Christmastime and Brooke makes her antique shop so inviting and festive. The single male wolf shifters are sweet and protective but recognize the intelligence and skill of Brooke. She is not relegated to a docile character at all.

Red wolf shifter, Brooke Cerise unexpectedly inherits an antique shop in Portland, Oregon. When a missing reindeer calf unexpectedly ends up on her property she becomes part of a kidnapping case. Detective Josh Wildling doesn’t expect to fall for the new wolf in town, especially since she is part of his kidnapping case, but there is just something about her he can’t resist.

It's been years since I read a Terry Spear book and I don’t know why. This book was just what I needed on this very hot July day. I really loved this book. Brooke and Josh were adorable together. I loved watching these two slowly fall in love.

I really liked Brooke. I loved that she inherited an antique shop. It was fascinating and created a very unique setting that I don’t think I have ever read before. Josh was the protective alpha male but he was also very supportive. I loved how he instantly starts helping Brooke around the shop and helping her sell items. He really was a great hero and I instantly loved him. These two were adorable and I couldn’t get enough of them.

Overall, this was a great holiday romance! I really hope we see more of these two in future books of this series. Also I couldn’t get enough of the reindeer in this book. They were adorable. I loved that Josh and his brother had a reindeer farm because that sounds like an amazing place to work.

Brooke moves to Portland from Phoenix, and starts off finding a reindeer eating in her front yard. When Josh, the hunky cop shows up and accusations of reindeer theft abound things get interesting. Another great book by a favorite author. Highly recommend this book and author. Good holiday read.

A fun holiday mystery romance novel! I had fun reading this book and really felt the holiday cheer from it. The romance was sweet and the mystery was quite interesting! Brooke is the new wolf (literally) in town to take over the antique store her family left when a stolen deer brings the local police officer and wolf, Detective Josh to her door. Before she knows it Josh has taken to bringing her lunch everyday and helping her run her store all the while Brooke is dealing with store break ins and the question as to why someone would attack her store? Josh and Brooke start off a bit rocky but gradually both fall in love. Overall a fun romance novel!
