I have heard such amazing things about this series of children's books! I loved reading the Jungle Adventure book in this series and was thrilled to see a Pirate Adventure one too!

Throughout this book the reader is able to choose who they going to be, what to wear, who helps you on your adventure and lot's more! As you read the book, you create your own story. There are so many different stories to make and so many different outcomes and options to pick which adds another element of fun and adventure for the reader. This series of books are so fantastic for children and encouraging them to use and nurture their imaginations! It is so creative and this time, full of pirates! I also loved the beautiful illustrations throughout and thought it was such an exciting adventure story.

I will definitely be purchasing this series of books in the future!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book to read and give my own, honest opinion.

This is a book for the younger reader. They get to really use their imagination when reading. It is a fun book they could read over and over, but get a different adventure each time. Children that are 5 and older get to enjoy the pirate theme with colorful and fun illustrations. While they go through the book they create the story by answering questions and choosing what happens next or what they do such as will you pick being a goat or a skeleton, take a treasure map and go on ghost ship or will it include a sea monster or will you see a chocolate island. They can make it a fun and exciting story and it can become silly too. No matter what there are many ideas, places, objects characters and other things are available to chose from begin to finish the story. It is a whole new story each time because you are in charge and get to make the decisions. It is fun!

You're the Hero: Pirate Adventure by Lily Murray is a fun choose your own adventure style book. I had my nine year old read the book and he was not that interested. I think this book is perfect for ages 6 and under. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

This is an incredibly fun book that allows you to create your own pirate adventure story!

Each spread starts with a question that prompts you to choose from an array of characters, supplies, transportation, destinations, and more as you progress through your story! You can choose to be a captain or a knight or a princess or even a goat! You can choose to go on your adventure in a pirate ship or a ghost ship or a bathtub! Some choices seem obvious, while others will certainly add pizazz or humor to your plot.

Young ones will love being the hero of the story and having the freedom to choose who to be and what to wear and where to go. There are plenty of choices for each prompt to come back and create an entirely new story each time!

My daughter enjoys making up her own stories so this was extra fun for her and helped her understand the many elements that go into a story as well! We will definitely be on the lookout for more books in the You're A Hero series!

It is a Pirate adventure book. You pick who you are, what you take with you, whom you bring along, where you go, how you go, whom do you meet, how you overcome your problem there, etc. It is a fun ride. Kids will enjoy it. Illustrations are bright, colourful and wonderful.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the eARC

There are so many choices the kids can make and come up with a really exciting and adventurous story.

This book can be re-read many times and kids will not get bored of it, as they can go through the book again and take many different paths to make up different stories.

The illustrations are really cute, vibrant and eye catching.

Prompts for kids to create a detailed adventure.

Kids choose everything from character to water transportation, and what to do on their trip. There are many choices to make so the story could be very different every time. This is not a choose your ending type of book. Instead, the reader gets to choose everything in the story as if they are creating it themselves. For instance, there are sixteen choices for each question and fourteen parts of the story.

This is a good book for families to read together. Using the prompts, the story can be as detailed as they want. It would be fun to take turns choosing parts of the story.

I received an ARC from Quarto Publishing through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.

With so many different options (a lot of which will make you laugh out loud) to build your own adventure, as well as fun, colorful illustrations, this book should be a must-have for any younger kids. My students were absolutely ecstatic when they heard about it, and thought it was the COOLEST thing that they could build their own pirate adventure!

This book had myself and some friends chuckling for ages! For a few years now there have been several books in which you can create your own plots by choosing certain options and then turning to that page. I remember one girl in my class being fascinated with one of these book types for ages! Murray’s book is an updated version of this model. It reaches an even younger audience because it doesn’t require a lot of heavy reading or page finding. On each page is a certain aspect of the story, which you choose. Such as: what you will wear or where the adventure takes place. You then simply turn the page for the next part of the story! The pictures are beautiful and inviting and no matter how many times you read it, there are 100s of different ways to tell the story! A great, fun and interactive read!!

This is a book that just keeps on giving. It's powered by the reader's imagination and creativity. It is a story-building book of which I am a huge fan. The possibilities of a tale based on a Pirate theme awaits instruction and mobilization.

The readers simply read the questions and then choose from quirky, silly and sometimes exciting illustrations to build their own personal stories. Kids will love the challenge and the fun of dreaming about life on the high seas as a pirate and acting out their fantasies.

Imagine:
Visiting a pirate milkshake bar
Wearing a sparkly eye patch and a beard
Packing a treasure map
Voyaging on a ghost ship
Sailing past an island made of chocolate
Facing a tentacled sea monster ... how fun are these?

The coolest thing of all? Once that tale is complete then the reader can go back to the start of the book and sail off once again using their ingenuity and inventiveness to build a completely different story. The illustrations offer the reader, clothes to dress up in, places to go, a variety of random objects to take with them, crew members to pick from, a mode of travel, different journey routes, rewards, and how to end the tale, just to name a few. The illustrator has embedded an adorable little penguin to find on each page.

This is a perfect book for little ones on lockdown. It is a book that can be enjoyed time and time again. I highly recommend it.

This is a BRILLIANT book that has entertained my 3.5 year old for AGES on LOTS of occasions and sometimes - wait for it - INDEPENDENTLY!!

It’s a “choose your own adventure”. On the first page the reader is encouraged to choose which character they would like to be. A skeleton maybe? A parrot? Perhaps a pirate granny? And on the following spreads you have to make further difficult decisions. Where will you go? What will you take with you? What dangers will you face and how will you escape? With so many choices on each spread the combinations are almost endless, and therefore so are the stories you can tell.

Some of the possibilities are very funny and have had us laughing out loud. My son particularly liked the idea of being a skeleton riding on the back of a friendly shark to an island full of confectionary!

As well as giving me 10 minutes to have a cuppa in peace, what is great about this book is that it encourages the reader to tell their own story, which is great for language development and imagination as the story is inevitably embellished (I’m not gonna lie, sometimes Spider-man turns up and there’s nothing I can do about it).

The illustrations are bold and colourful with plenty to look at on each page. There’s also a penguin to spot throughout the book, which adds a further layer of entertainment.

If pirates are not your bag then Lily Murray has written a similar book with a different illustrator that is set in the Jungle (which we’ll definitely be purchasing!).

If your little one is a fan of the classic book, You Choose, pirates, or telling their own stories then I’d highly HIGHLY recommend investing in this book!!
