Took a bit to get into this one, mainly because I didn’t like her brother Simon. A marriage of convenience, since she couldn’t have children and he was scarred. Lots of issues they needed to work through, and once I got into the story I had a hard time putting it down. Highly recommend this book and author. Worth the read.

This was such a sweet story of two broken people. Having an Amish mans prospective made this book unique. Jeb's loneliness and longing brought a real grittiness to the story that made your heartache but need to know more. This book was fantastic and I finished it in one day.

There landlord a Amish man named Jeb who has been badly burned and scarred from a fire. Jeb is due to inherit the farm where they live but there is a clause in the will that he must be married by a certain date.Jeb makes a deal with Leah to have a marriage of convenience where he will pay Simon's gambling debts in exchange for marriage to Jeb. Will the two people who have been hurt and very lonley find out what a true marriage will be as time passes?

This is my first book to read by Patricia Johns. I really liked this book once I was able to "get into it". It took a chapter or two but once I started I really enjoyed the book. I would like to have seen a better cover that grabs a reader's attention.

Leah is a single Amish schoolteacher whose parents are both gone. She has a younger brother who has gotten himself into some gambling trouble and needs a quick way out of it before he gets hurt by the people he is indebted to. Leah is very involved with her community and has several friends. Leah was basically jilted by the man she loves because she is not able to have children. Jeb is a single man who has cut himself basically off from the world and his community because of past hurts most of which deal with his arranged marriage to his deceased wife. As a result of a clause in Jeb's friend's will, he stands to inherit a good sum of money and the farm he lives on if he gets married before the deadline. I won't say tell anymore of the storyline but it was an interesting one to say the least...one I don't think I have seen in any of my previous Amish reads.

Jeb's Wife is a tale that is heartwarming and describes a beautiful building of a relationship and the importance of trust and kindness. Both Leah and Jeb have been deeply hurt by past relationships, by people they should have been able to trust, and in Jeb's Wife, they are brought together by extenuating circumstances. Reading about the gradual developing of their appreciation for and caring for one another was beautiful and heartrending. Patricia Johns is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors in this Amish genre. She has a gift for developing her characters to make them identifiable. I highly recommend Jeb's Wife!

I loved this book! Jeb is a man badly scarred from a fire that killed his first wife. Many rumors are circling about the gruff loner in their Amish community. Leah is a woman that was rejected by her former beau, because she knows she can't bare children. He starts out as her landlord, but because of her brother, she needs a lot of money. He needs a wife to satisfy his uncle's will to inherit the farm. So they agree to a marriage of convenience. Except it becomes very inconvenient when their feeling get involved. Very romantic story, well written, this will be in my favorites list from here on out! I'll enjoy reading this over and over again!

I liked this story and found it to be one of the better Amish stories. I think it's because of the good main characters and the emotional depth of the story. Both of them are people of honor and integrity trying to help each other.
Jeb is such an incredibly misunderstood man on so many different levels and not just about his scars. He is a private man but his community has also failed him in so many ways too. That was so well written that you could almost feel the hurt. He was also a man who wanted to be loved and valued. But after being rejected time and again, he pretty much gave up.
Leah has so many good qualities and one of those is her deep love for her brother Simon. She raised him when she was a teenager and he has a lot of charisma. Unfortunately he has used his charm in unhealthy ways. At least one point I kept thinking some tough love was needed and he needed to grow up. You'll have to read the book to find out if that ever happens.
The story has our couple facing several challenges, and judgemental people. It does come to a good conclusion with some good people in the community repenting and stepping up, bringing more hope for a better future for everyone.
