My son (10) loved this. He’s a big fan of the Dog Man books and this was a hit as well. Recommend to fans of the series. Good art and a fun story for kids, with lots of laughs.

A lovely book with action packed superhero excitement this book is perfect for Dog man fans of age 8 to 11. It is thrilling and every chapter has a cliff hanger to keep the reader interested. It's engaging, witty and cute and harkens back to comic books of the 1980s so adults will get a kick out of it too. It has beautiful illustrations too.

A solid option for those kids who are not yet ready for DogMan or who have powered through them already.

This book is in the vein of Dogman, but I didn't think it was nearly as good. The humor was so stupid. That being said, my 7 year old really enjoyed it so it appears to be appealing to its intended readers.

This was a great book for my 9 year old! He really enjoyed the story and has asked for more from the series! For a mom that’s a win-win!

Max Meow is a cat with some serious attitude, not bad attitude, though. He is just hanging out in Kittyopolis doing his thing until one day something totally out of the ordinary happens which makes his life much more interesting. All of a sudden Max is not just your normal, everyday cat. He becomes Max the Cat Crusader, and boy, do things get interesting from there. This is a great story about Max and his best friend, along with some others who are not so friendly. The graphics are colorful, easy to follow and contribute to making this an awesome graphic novel. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

This is a fun adventure for fans of Captain Underpants or The Dog Man series. As a cat mom, I’m partial to books staring cats, and Max is pretty adorable and awesome. The illustrations are very Saturday-Morning Cartoon-esq.

A decent choice for fans of captain Underpants. A basic graphic novel suitable for elementary kids. Max, in spite of being a cat, is a pretty standard kid, wanting to be noticed. Curiosity leads him to accidentally get superpowers. The plot is what we would expect: Max learning about his abilities and how to use them to help his community, causing conflict with his best friend. The illustrations are fairly simple and easy to follow.

3 stars = good/fine/solid
Graphic novel superhero tale where Max ingests a bit of a space meatball and gets super powers. The power goes to his head which leads to a friendship fracture with his scientist friend, Mindy. Max has to reconcile with Mindy as well as defeat the villain.

Fans of the genre will enjoy this one, but I didn't find anything special in this first volume. It doesn't have the humor or heart of Hilo, for example, but I believe kids will get a kick out of Max and be eager to see what happens next once the Big Boss is revealed at the end of this book.

I had a hard time putting this graphic novel down. Right from the beginning the story gripped me, and once Max ate a mysterious meatball was when things got real interesting. From then on, it is clear his life will never be the same. When a new villain comes to cause chaos, Cat Crusader may be the only one who can stop them. As this tale comes to a close, it looks the adventures of this hero have only just begun.

Max Meow is a fun and funny graphic novel for elementary students who like cats, superheroes, and a little bit of action. And what’s even better is that this is the beginning of a series. Hand to students who enjoyed Dog Man.

Max Meow: Cat Crusader is a wonderful introduction to our hero, Max, who (like all REAL superheroes) becomes that way by accident. He eats a radioactive meatball from space and develops amazing superpowers! And just in time because the evil villain Agent M and his Big Boss are trying to steal the super rock!.

For fans of the DogMan and InvestiGators series of books, this graphic novel is an adorable addition to the fun, superhero genre that's been published in the past few years. The colorful illustrations and hilarious humor (even for adults...Blitz Wolfer? Ha!) will engage even the most reluctant of readers. Highly recommend for kids in grades 2 and up.

My son loves cats. So he loved everything about this book. He liked Max Meow, Mindy, the kind of evil robot, and even the rat. We read the e-arc of the first one, and he already wants to read Donuts and Danger.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

My Review: My son is a big Dog Man and Bad Guys fan, so I am always looking for similar books for him to read, and when I came across this one I thought I would give it a shot. We both really enjoyed this book, we are big cat lovers and have a ginger cat of our own so that was a fun link to the book. I got Dexter's Laboratory vibes from this book, with the secret lab and the villain always trying to steal secrets. It was a fun adventure and some great messages woven into the story. Young readers of all types will love this but I have found reluctant readers really enjoy the graphic novels. We will definitely be adding this to our shelves and look forward to the next book in the series!

My Rating: This is a great book for young readers, Munchkin really enjoyed it. The images are bright and bold and the story is entertaining. You can't help but root for the characters. I give it a rating of Four Paws!

This was a lot of fun and perfect for fans of the Dog Man and Hilo series. Max Meow is just a normal cat until a meatball changes his life. With the help of his friend Mia he defeats a Mysterious mouse and saves Kittyopolis.

This is a great new series and I can see a lot of demand for it especially with the younger graphic novel readers. The author explains the basic parts of the book like the prologue and epilogue. A must need to beef up school and public library collections for readers who can't wait until the next Dog Man installment.
