I appreciated the rise of meditation books for kids. As someone who formerly worked with children of all ages, these strategies are very helpful for them to deal with complicated emotions and situations. This book shines in the easy to understand explanations and how it scaffolds concepts for children.

Meditation for Kids is book of 40 mindfulness exercises for kids 4-8. I've done a few with my almost five year-old, and have been very impressed. There's a wide variety of exercises for different moods/needs, such as focusing, dealing with anger, and relaxing. The exercises are fun and age appropriate and utilize kid-friendly imagery ("imagine you're a frog sitting on a lily pad") to engage children. Not every exercise engaged my child, but with 40 different meditations, you can pick and choose. My only wish was that there were more, particularly relaxation ones that involve lying down for going to bed. Overall this is a great little book. I had an electronic copy, but I think it would be even more useful in hard copy to easily refer back to different exercises, and so that your children can see the fun illustrations.

So we have had many days now of being inside and tempers and moods may vary.  Are your children struggling?  If they are (and even if they are not), this illustrated book is filled with good mindful activities.  As the subtitle notes, the activities could help children to "manage emotions, ease anxiety and stay focused,"  things that all of us could use really. Chapters include Rise and Shine, Focus Your Mind, Open Your Heart, Explore Your Imagination, and Relax and Let Go.  There are then things to try.  The book also includes a helpful introduction for adults.

Each activity is explained clearly and suggestions are given for when an activity may be helpful and why it works.  My impression is that doing some of these activities with children, especially now, could be very helpful.  Adults could try them too.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.  I will be using this title.

This book had some awesome strategies in it! I tried some of them out while reading along and loved each one I tried. I can see this being a great book for both the classroom and the home setting.

As a career elementary educator with advanced certification in Mindfulness, Meditation, Brain Health, Integrative Mental Health, and Stress Management, I feel qualified to say this book is brilliant! I taught all my students to meditate each day and I saw first hand how it positively affected their overall lives and social emotional skills. This book is approachable and clever in how it’s organized and the techniques it introduces. The illustrations throughout are darling, as well. It is designed for children, but I think it is appropriate for all ages. @netgalley provided a copy for an honest review

This is such a fantastic guide to meditation for children! I love using this with my kids when we ALL need a strawberry smoothie or when we first wake up to get our day started on the right foot. The guided meditations make it fun for the kids and are quick enough to hold their attention.

This day and age children need to relax and take a moment to be introspective. I have often found myself wanting to do this in my own classroom. But, found it hard to explain in terms easy for my kids to understand. This book gives a teacher the tools to help her students meditate and gives the child the ability to calm/relax themselves. My kids love when we just sit and listen to ocean sounds but having this book as a guide and a way to help them look into themselves in a fun way is fantastic. It should be a book all teachers have on hand to help them. I am a firm believer in meditation and helping students have a way for them to express themselves or calm themselves down.
