The Greek gods come down to earth and are mortal for a week every seven years. Whomever kills a god, gets their powers for the next seven years. Just from reading the little blurb, I knew that this was going to be a book that I wanted to read. Luckily, I was accepted for the arc, so a full review will be forthcoming.

Alexandra Bracken presents a dazzling tale of modern-day Greek gods that commands your attention from the start. I’ve only sampled a few chapters, but the mythology nerd in me is already hooked.

This is just the chapter sampler, but it was definitely enough to get me hooked! I can’t wait to read the whole book, which is waiting on my list in NetGalley! Hopefully very soon, I will be able to get to it. Thank you so much for allowing me to read it early!

I was instantly hooked by these first six chapters of Lore. I really enjoyed the Greek mythology aspect in the story and how it factors into the plot. The world is so intriguing, and the cast of characters is great. I loved them each individually and their dynamics with each other as well. This is one of my most anticipated releases of next year and I can't wait to read the full version and see what happens next!

After reading the “Lore” chapter sampler, I’m anxiously anticipating the continuation when this book is released; it was not at all what I was expecting. “Lore” is a unique and original take on the mythological genre and was an exciting read that has me dying for more! I have have hopes of this 5-star sampler turning into a 5-star read.

As a huge fan of Greek mythology, urban fantasy, and Alexander Bracken’s previous work, I knew this book was for me. Bracken would have to do some very very bad things in this novel for it to get a bad review from me.

These first 63 pages depict Lore, a young woman in New York City trying to live a somewhat normal life, even if she is a direct descendant of an ancient Greek hero. Every seven years families like hers are given the chance to hunt the gods in an effort to steal their immortal life. Although Lore left these games years ago, this time around she’s ready for vengeance.

Even with such a unique world, Bracken sets up I never felt all that confused or overwhelmed by an info-dumpy passage. The cast of characters is already unique and fun. Lore's pre-existing and new relationships are already extremely promising. The writing is fast-paced, yet still revealing and smooth. The plot is only just starting in this preview but oh is it intriguing.

These first 6 chapters only left me wanting more. Much more. NetGalley please approve my request for the full copy. Thanks to NetGalley, this preview copy solidified my already unfathomable anticipation for this story.

When I first picked it up the prologue felt a bit confusing (just trying to keep the characters straight). But once I got past that and into the heart of the story, it started to make sense to me and became quite enjoyable. Since I know that there's still time before the book is published and revisions can still be made, I'm giving this sample arc a three out of five stars.

I love Greek mythology and I've read a couple of Alexandra Bracken's books, so I was very excited about Lore, which promises a gritty and fresh take on the old tales. Honestly, at first I was a bit confused as to what was going on, but by the end of these few chapters I was invested. It puts a spin on the idea of Greek gods on the modern world, and as an older Percy Jackson fan this really suits me. I am very excited for the full book.

Greek mythology, old gods, and an open hunting season every seven years. After reading a 6 chapter sampler, I'm left wanting more of this wholly original dark fantasy novel that is like an urban fantasy with Greek gods and elements of horror movie "The Purge" - every seven years, old gods turn mortal and mortal hunters go on a seek-and-kill rampage. If they kill the god, they assume their powers, during Agon. Lore has been in hiding, only to be dragged back in to protect a god and keep an evil "New" god nemesis from making a discovery that could devastate the world. I look forward to reading more!

Alexandra Bracken wins with another compelling storyline. I was hooked right from the beginning! I love her original spin on Greek mythology. An interesting twist between mythos and Hunger Games. Great characters so far. Athena is my favorite goddess and I love seeing her headlining in a book. Lore and Miles are an excellent duo and I'm very intrigued to see exactly what is between Lore and Castor. January 5, 2021 can't come fast enough. I definitely want to be able to read an advanced read a copy of this book.

Thank you to Alexandra Bracken, Disney Hyperion Books and Netgalley for the sneak peak of Lore. It promises to be an amazing book.

I have been following Alexandra Bracken on her journey through writing this book and absolutely jumped at the chance to catch a sneak-peek! It's been months of hearing about her character crafting and plot twist hinting, and I have to say the Lore sample chapters are such a tease.

The synopsis is so intriguing. It's such a fresh take on a mythology that is so well known. Hunting gods. Interacting with legends. Immortals trapped in New York City a place known for thin lines and teetering life choices and gritty details. Revenge and all things Greek Myths. A line up that would make anyone crave more.

Listening to Alexandra Bracken talk about the work and actually sitting down and get immersed in the characters was wonderful. I know this is a sample so I don't want to say much about anything just yet but the promise of so much more makes this go right to the top of my pile. I have the release date bookmarked on all of my calendars!

Thank you Netgalley & Disney Publishing for this advanced sampler!

Lore is a fresh and bloody take on the Greek Gods in modern time. I am really excited to see where the rest of the story goes. Lore one of the Gorgon's descendants has to work with Athena to hunt down the new God of War. I like the mythology and the Hunger Games style battle.

So far the story has been interesting. I love the modern twist to the Greek mythos. Since this is a charger sampler, it only gives me a hint of what the story is going towards and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Alexandra Bracken never disappoints. Although this is only a chapter sampler, what we were given was enough to understand whats happening and keep us wanting more. So interested in Lore/Cas. Can’t wait to read the entire thing!

Alexandra Bracken is at it again with another compelling story. I know it's just a sampler but it's all it took to have me hooked right from the beginning. It's hard to find an original idea when it comes to books on Greek mythology but somehow Bracken did it. I'm beyond excited to see how the rest of it goes.

The worldbuilding, realistic point of view, and fusion of myth and reality is just *chef's kiss.* January 5th, 2021, better come faster.

I have been a fan of Bracken’s work for years and constantly proclaim that her Darkest Minds series is one of my favorite series of all time. But, Lore may have it beat. Though this is just a chapter sampler, Lore has hooked me from the very beginning and I’m desperate to read the whole book once it’s released in January. The story is gritty and dark, but still has that spark of light and humor that has been prevalent in all of her work. I cannot wait to see how the characters and story further develop over the course of the novel, and the series.

What an exciting few chapters! Thanks for the opportunity to read and review this chapter sampler. I love the Greek/Roman mythology theme and I'm excited to see where it goes within the rest of the book! Lore is already such an interesting character. This book holds a lot of promise!
