Just like any Alexandra Bracken book, this chapter sampler gives us just enough to keep wanting more. Of course when I requested this I expected the whole book but alas, I still enjoyed it. I can't wait to learn more about the characters, the world and the the crazy (but amazing) journey they will be on.

The premise of this book really intrigued me as I am a big fan of Greek Mythology. Thus far I have only read the first few chapters and I must say I am absolutely hooked. Not only is the story incredibly fresh and unlike anything I have read in the past few years, but it also adds a new dimension to the Gods that have been written about for centuries. I am very excited to read and review the entirety of this book upon its release or if a full review version becomes available in the future.

Samples are great, they give a good feel for the story but then they also suck, because right when the world and the plot are all set up.... BOOM! It is over and now you're stuck waiting for the full ARC to be available so you can try to get that and actually find out what happens after what can only be the world's worst cliffhanger.

So yeah, Lore was great if you can't tell. The idea of a Greek mythical war between the gods and wannabes was super interesting. I had a little difficulty understanding the nature of what was happening but I believe that is something that would have been cleared if I had been able to continued reading. From the sampler I can tell that I will love Lore and everything about her, from her survival status. her need to be free while she lusts for revenge. I know I probably won't like any of the original Greek gods, but honestly who could blame me? I do not know about Miles and Castor but I want to know more and I wish I could have kept reading, but alas. I must wait.

I feel like it has been a while since Alexandra Bracken has published a book, but this one is bound to be AWESOME.

I was disappointed to learn this was a sampler, but I still enjoyed this first look at Lore. It started off a bit slow for me, but seems promising. I think the premise is cool, and the mix between a modern setting and older mythology creates something that feels fresh and exciting. . I can’t wait to see where this goes!

Incredibly excited to read the full version of this - Alexandra Bracken crafts a beautiful world with gorgeous prose and the mythical element certainly adds to the magic of the writing and the characters.

I love books about mythology and I was so excited to dive into this story, even though it was just a sample. It definitely took me longer than I expected to read this but once I did I really enjoyed it. The world building was very strong and I liked the amount of detail the author put in. It was gripping and quickly pulled me in. I would read the full book of this, definitely!

Bracken opens strong with an intriguing overview of this books world building presenting greek mythology in a brand new way. Zeus, always known for his complex punishments, have sentenced the greek pantheon to become mortal each year, where the lineages of greek heroes have the opportunity to kill them and become gods themselves. An ancestor and one of the last remaining original gods team up for a fascinating revenge story! As this was a chapter sampler, I have tentatively given the book 4 stars, but I will definitely
be reading Lore when it comes out!

A great little sampler, though I wish it were much longer than that unfortunately I thought it was the galley and now I must painstakingly wait.

I got the 6-chapter sampler as an ARC. As some other people have pointed out, this is like Percy Jackson for adults. It’s fast-moving and there’s a lot to unpack in the first chapters. It might take a second pass to have a firm grasp of what’s happened in this war. So far, it seems everyone might be an anti-hero.

Sign me up for anything inspired by mythology. Alexandra Bracken’s excerpt introduces us to Lore, the heroine at the center of this YA tale. She’s a fierce fighter, taking down opponents in the ring as she waits for the perfect moment to seek revenge on those who killed her family. In this world, every seven years Zeus turns the gods into mortals, forcing them to live in a mortal body for a week. That week is here, and it’s Lore’s chance to strike. I’m always here for teen girls saving the world, and I’m especially excited to read my first Bracken book.

This was such a great concept and very well written. Vivid and intriguing. I can't wait to see this published in full.

I am so excited to read this book. I love stories about mythology. I'm a big fan of the books of Rick Riordan, plus I love American Gods and the Starcrossed series by Josephine Angelini. I think this will be a great addition. I liked the action in just the few chapters I read and I'm intrigued to see where this goes.

This is a review on the six chapter preview from NetGalley. Lore is centered around a heroine who is set to reenter the Agon, which is kind of like The Hunger Games set in the world of Percy Jackson. To repay for rebelling, nine of the old gods are set to walk the earth and be hunted by humans who are able to steal their immortality if they slay them.

It's an interesting take and the book starts off at a fast and interesting pace that it holds throughout the preview. From what we know so far, there's a decently diverse cast to provide some representation as well! The dialogue and flow is fairly believable, with good description throughout. I basically devoured this tiny bit.

I really love books on Greek mythology and this has a lot of promise to be both distinctive from other retellings/spins and fun. I'm really looking forward to the debut to finish the whole book! I've never read Bracken's other works, but this convinced me to do so to hold the tide and see more of her talented writing!

This is a review on the chapter/section preview offered via NetGalley. Lore is a fast paced, fantasy putting Lore, our loner heroine, back in the brutal Agon she walked away from years before. Born to a family descended from a greek hero, Lore, and others like her, take part in the Agon every seven years when nine of the Greek Gods of old are punished to walk the earth as mortals for a week. Each family of hero's has the opportunity - kill a god and seize their immortality and power. After the brutal murder of her family, Lore has promised herself to avoid the Agon, but fate in the form of the goddess Athena, intervenes and Lore is back in the hunt.

I would have loved to read the whole book, and will be looking forward to reading the whole book when released. Without reading the entire book, I can't give a solid age recommendation, hence the new adult label. Recommended.

Almost everything about this book appealed to be- the cover, the mythology, and the plot all looked amazing. That being said, I did have a hard time getting into it, but, once I did, it was fantastic! The concept is such a new and interesting one and I’m excited to see how it plays out. I don’t have strong feelings for any of the main characters yet, but I can definitely see the potential. Lore is an urban fantasy and mythology mash-up of the fight between the Greek gods on earth. Lauren (Lore) is the last of her line and ready to live a life of hiding but the unexpected arrival of a wounded Athena make that impossible.

Bracken has hit this one out of the park. Lore is a tough and smart heroine and we only get a smidge of dreamy Castor but I know he’s going to be great. This is an exciting fresh new story and I can’t wait to read what happens next in January 2021!

Five stars for originality and an exciting premise

3 stars. I love the premise of this story and I was super excited to dive into this teaser, but I wasn’t particularly invested in the plot or characters; I had trouble getting through this, even though it’s pretty short. Not sure if I’ll be picking up a copy.

I just finished the chapter sampler and I'm dying to have the actual book in my hands. This is definitely going to be one of my top reads of 2021!
