The description for this book hooked me right away as I feel like there's been a shortage of greek mythology retellings post-Percy Jackson era. The worldbuilding here was really good, though I did get confused by a lot of the terms being tossed around at first. Lore is a fascinating character I'd love to read more about, especially since she just made an oath with Athena.

I can't wait for this book to be released! The recently revealed cover is so gorgeous and I'd love to see it on my shelf.

(One critique though, the current font the book is set in can be a bit difficult to read.)

This book was received as an ARC from Disney Publishing Worldwide - Disney-Hyperion in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I could not help but be deeply fascinated by Lore! As a fan of Greek Mythology I have always wondered what would happen when the gods come to human form and now thanks to protection from Lore in a quest to find Castor and form an alliance that would be a win win saving their souls and an opportunity for Lore to leave Agon forever and rest peacefully in the name of her family. My eyes were in awe and my jaw was dropping to the floor as I read the book with so many Greek mythology references and the joy it brings me each page.

We will consider adding this title to our YA collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

This is only a sampler, which makes me really sad, because I WANT to read the whole thing! But it's not noted anywhere in the information that this isn't the entire book. Please make the whole thing available!!!!

While I find myself intrigued by the first couple of chapters, I'm ultimately disappointed it was not the entire novel. I don't mind reading a sample, but I would have preferred it be clearly stated prior to request. I plan on reading the book when it becomes available.

Oh I have been sucked in and must now wait very, very impatiently for the rest of this book. The sampler provided was a very good portion of the story to get you invested in the story and already I enjoy the characters and plot. Think Hunger Games x5 with the Greek gods being the targets set in NYC and away we go on a great adventure.

I was provided with an electronic ARC through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Alexandra Bracken is one of those YA authors who I think could write about a stone and make it compelling - but this series shows she has much more elevated craft than I had previously seen in her work. Wow. Student readers are going to devour this.

I wish it had been more clear that this was only a sampler of the book and not the entire thing. That being said, it totally sucked me in - Lore, Miles, Athena are all clear and brilliant characters. The world building is intriguing without being overwhelming and I'm sure there will be a lot of shenanigans later on that fit right into it. It's definitely a page turner.

Weird formatting made this a little hard to read but I love the world and can’t wait to read more when the book is closer to release.

I give the book five out of five stars. Only downside was that I could not finish the book. I did not realize I got sampler and now I have to wait about year till it comes out! I love the premise and the characters so far. I would definitely recommend the book and the author to readers.

Thank you to Disney Publishing Worldwide and NetGalley for providing me with a sampler of Lore by Alexandra Bracken.

This truly blew me away! The concept of a “murder olympics” including elements of Greek mythology grabbed my attention instantly. The prose and world building were so rich and captivating, I seriously could not put it down. Plus, the blend of real and fantasy elements in a modern setting, such as New York City, was done really well in my opinion.

The main character really stood out to me! Right off the bat, Lore was super strong, smart, and snarky. I loved how she knew how to fight and stick up for herself! I can already tell that Lore and her friends will be a fun cast of characters to follow.

Overall, I think Lore will be perfect for fans of The Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, and Throne of Glass. I’m very interested to see where it goes, and I will definitely be reading and recommending!
