I had just finished "Secret Service" when Mr Bradby's follow-up "Double Agent" became available on my Kindle, so it was good to read one after the other.

What I particularly like about Bradby's work is that he makes life reasonably easy for his readers. So many "spy" novels are so densely plotted that readers can get bewildered. Bradby plots beautifully and gives sufficient historical background and geographical locations to involve the reader without confusing him. His heroes are flawed, as are his villains but all seem to have some element of humanity even if they are rather unshaken by killings and attempts to kill all around them.

I thoroughly enjoyed "Double Agent" and would highly recommend the 2 books in the series and I hoe that we will be able to read more soon. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

One minor thing; Kate is travelling incognito under an assumed name and passport on a potentially dangerous assignment; having crossed the border she stops for a coffee and takes out her own phone to check for messages etc. I thought that was an unlikely occurrence - wouldn't she have left her own phone and taken one in her false identity?

As I said a minor issue which did not detract from a really good read.
