What a great novel
The setting of the novel adds to the atmosphere. It has a claustrophobic vibe to it.
The ending was so surprising.

Couldn't put this book down. Great plot and believable characters. Had me hooked from first page to last.

I love psychological thrillers and this started off well but then I’m afraid it didn’t keep my interest. I didn’t connect with the characters either. Not one of my favourite thrillers but worth a read

Wow! This was one of those books that kept you guessing until the very end! Quick page turner!

You could tell throughout the whole book that something is off- you just can’t put your finger on it!

When Alice goes to meet her best friend Joanna’s new fiancé, Joanna shockingly isn’t there. That’s when she finds out from Mark, the fiancé, that Joanna is now missing. Mark right away is reluctant to involve the police- and right there I find myself questioning everything! You would think at this point the story line is predictable but it’s sooooo not!

Psychological thriller at its best and one of the best I’ve read in a while. These types of thrillers can be hard to pull off. This was so well written and thought out.
There’s only a few characters so you don’t find yourself having trouble keeping up with all the participants in the story!

This was the first book I’ve read by this author and I’m definitely checking out more!

I really liked the story. I did find it suspenseful but I was very disappointed with the ending. It felt rusted by the end. I would give it 3.5 stars

My rating is hovering between 2.5 and 3 stars.

Admittedly, I have had this book on my kindle for a while and I don't know why I waited so long to pick it up. Currently in a Gone Girl phase when I picked this up, I was excited. It was okay. There were twists and turns which I didn't expect and I enjoyed that - it isn't often that I don't predict the surprises and it was a smooth read. Here's the but...I felt like we were taken on this journey for no reason. There were parts which were strange and I didn't understand, almost as if there were plot holes or missing information

I have had this book on my kindle for such a long time and now I’ve read it I have absolutely no idea why I waited so long to pick it up. The pace of this book got me from the first chapter, I was drawn in and intrigued with the story between Joanna and Alice. A friendship that has perhaps run it’s course and they hadn’t seen each other for 10 years. Then one phone call and Alice is at Joanna’s beck and call. I found it slight hard to believe that Alice would stay with Mark, Joanna’s fiancé when she hadn’t ever met him but crisis calls. The writing really flowed and I loved the short chapters. Towards the end of the book it flips between characters each chapter which I really like in a book.
Overall a great book!

Reading the blurb of this book gave me high hopes.... but unfortunately this book fell short for me.
The first half of the book felt so different from the second half... it just was not a book I enjoyed although I think the story itself could have had major potential, it simply fell short in the delivery.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, Wendy Clarke and Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

This book was ultimately alright. After the era of Gone Girl, readers have started to go into thrillers expecting to be tricked, which makes it difficult to surprise a reader.

What I liked:
This book surprised me and I liked the twists and turns it was able to bring me on! The husband was a well written red herring and the writing used the popular tropes in thrillers to their advantage.

What I wanted more from:
Closure. The outcome of the novel and the reveal of the twist wasn't as tight as I was hoping for. It was at times difficult to follow and didn't leave me fully satisfied with the outcome.

I'm afraid I just couldn't get into this one. But I know she's a very popular author and lots of reviewers liked it, so give it a chance.

Alice and Joanna have been best friends for years, although they haven't seen each other for quite some time. Alice has had a hard time lately - she recently lost her job and her fiance. When Joanna reaches out and tells her that she wants Alice to meet Mark, her soon to be husband, Alice is more than happy to get away and reconnect with her best friend!
When she arrives, however, Mark is surprised to see her, and Joanna isn't there. Mark at first tells her she is away for a brief course, but later admits she is missing. And so starts the suspiscion and twists and turns.
I liked the book overall, however, it was very slow in places and jam packed with twists and turns in the end. Plus, while I understand the suspension of reality in fiction, some of the twists were a little *too* far fetched. Overall a 3.5 star read!
Thanks to Wendy Clarke, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

Couldn't put this one down! So many twists and turns to keep you guessing. Definitely a big take on the typical "missing person" plot. Looking forward to reading more from the author.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exhange for an honest review.
I found "The Bride" by Wendy Clarke to be an addictive, clever & well written story that pulled me in & didn't let me go until its final page.
The twists kept coming & the final one completely blindsided me!
I am happy to discover that I also have Ms. Clarke's newest book, "His Hidden Wife" & I am going to read it
next.

I wanted to like this book bit despite several attempts to get into the story line it just didn't happen for me. I found the story to be a bit weird..I gave up half way through

Solid 3 out of 5. The storyline was good, the character development could have been a bit better though. I wish there had been more chapters and more development for Joanna. She was such a complex character but we didn’t get to see all of her.

The premise of this book is what initially caught my eye and I started it quickly..Unfortunately it did not hold my attention and took me longer than normal to read it. The characters did not really cause me to really care about their well beings so i think that is why it took me longer to finish the book. I also was not a fan of the ending but it makes enough sense with it ending that way. Overall, it was a good book and I will read other books by this author.

I really like psychological thrillers, but I don’t think this one was well executed. The plot twists felt really forced to me and I didn’t really think they made that much sense to the overall plot. The writing in the beginning really had me hooked but ultimately it was just alright for me.
