I really enjoyed this one, loved the dual timeline. The characters were written beautifully, Nook was definitely my favourite!
The mix of mythology with modern life was weaved together so well. Wish this was a series!

The story telling of this book was absolutely amazing!

I really enjoyed the mythological background - the merging of different genre's initially had me stumped but i found the story intriguing and funny.

I would read it again for sure and recommend it to friends!

I read this book in one sitting, and I loved it! The plot was fast-paced and action-packed, so that made it a really enjoyable read. The vibes were very murder-mystery, and the protagonist was strong and powerful, so I was fully able to immerse myself in the story, It wasn't perfect, but it was definitely entertaining!

I've read other books by this author and really enjoyed them so I was very excited for this book and the premise behind it but unfortunately this book just didn't really work for me. That being said, I can still see a lot of people enjoying this.

The book itself is really well written and you can see that Knight is a talented author. I will see that I think the writing style on the book has actually improved from the last book I read by the author. The premise is also a big strength to this book and I think if you enjoy mythology inspired writing than there's a high chance of this interesting you.

Sadly, I just didn't really connect with the characters or the story all that much and it made it really difficult for me to get immersed in the book. I do think readers would have benefited from some more world building as I definitely had questions at points about the lore of the world at points.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

I received this complimentary ARC from the publisher, courtesy of NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

A fun read with many interesting twists and turns! I couldn't put it down!

"This Eternity of Masks and Shadows" by Karsten Knight is a haunting and beautiful novel that explores themes of identity, memory, and the power of storytelling. Set in a mysterious and immersive world filled with magic and darkness, the novel follows a young woman named Amadea who is haunted by memories of a past life and must confront a dangerous and powerful enemy in order to uncover the truth about her identity.

What sets "This Eternity of Masks and Shadows" apart is its expertly crafted prose and evocative imagery. Knight's writing is both poetic and precise, creating a rich and immersive world that is both beautiful and terrifying. The characters are complex and engaging, with hidden depths and motivations that add intrigue and suspense to the story.

I loved every minute of this book.

I felt like I was watching an action movie with how tight the pacing was and how well controlled the story was.

The only downside (that's not really a downside?) is that Nanook was my favorite character lol.

I loved the mystery, and how much Cairn's personality shown throughout the story, and the world building was fantastic. I was concerned that it would be an issue with having so many different gods, but Knight did an amazing job.

Thank you NetGalley for giving me an e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book just was not for me. It combined too many concepts - gods, superheroes, humans, It seemed to lack some consistency with abilities - at times gods were stronger than others. Confused me.

Gods that walk among us, heroes, vigilantes and villians, love, loss and redemption. This book had everything you could ask for! Beautifully written to evoke all of the feels, Karsten Knight wove an enchanting tale that i could not put down!

First of all a big thank you to the author, Netgalley and the publishers for sending me a copy of this book to read and review.

I absolutely loved the idea of this book and the blurb hooked me in immediately. I found this to be an enjoyable read however it didn’t draw me in as much as I was hoping. And did feel like it went on for a little too long. However a lot of this was intriguing and I loved the plot with gods and trying to find out what happened to Cairns mother. I also loved the romance in this between Cairn and Delaphine.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

DNF. I got through about 15% of the book, but it just did not hold my attention unfortunately. However, I am open to reading something else by this author in the future.

While I love the characters and the plot, the outcome is just not plausible and it felt off. While the writing was well done, I think maybe it needs another run through editing. Also if you want me to believe in the 18yr old who went up against a god, she needs to have some powers/magic.

I had a hard time getting into this book, unfortunately, but when I finally did, I enjoyed it very much! I enjoyed the casual queer romance!! Would recommend.

This Eternity of Masks and Shadows is definitely a jam-packed story full of myths, significant world-building, and great character development. The pace of the book is quick and doesn’t let you slip into boredom or wondering. It is supremely original and unique, with great LGBTQ+ representation as well. Cairn was overall an interesting character. Seeing her traverse the world of God's was brilliant, in some ways the world of God's is somewhat commonplace to her, but she also respects their power and is aware that as a mortal, she is somewhat outgunned. She is snarky, sarcastic, resilient, and stubborn as hell. Sometimes I wanted to be inside of her head instead and get more of her actual perspective or POV, but I still enjoyed reading about her. The ending of the book left us open for more options and I think that Knight could do a lot of lovely things with this world she has created.

This just didn’t end up being a book that interested me. When I first read the premise, I was very excited and invested, but getting into it made it clear that it just wasn’t for me. Hopefully it works for others out there!
