I did not finish this book. I tried to read it but I won’t be finishing it. I won’t be rating this book.

I found this to be an enjoyable read, keeping me on my toes throughout. The storyline was written well and flowed seamlessly. I look forward to reading more by this author!

This Eternity of Masks and Shadows is definitely a jam-packed story full of myths, significant world-building, and great character development. The pace of the book is quick and doesn’t let you slip into boredom or wondering. It is supremely original and unique, with great LGBTQ+ representation as well. Cairn was overall an interesting character. Seeing her traverse the world of God's was brilliant, in some ways the world of God's is somewhat commonplace to her, but she also respects their power and is aware that as a mortal, she is somewhat outgunned. She is snarky, sarcastic, resilient, and stubborn as hell. Sometimes I wanted to be inside of her head instead and get more of her actual perspective or POV, but I still enjoyed reading about her. The ending of the book left us open for more options and I think that Knight could do a lot of lovely things with this world she has created.

This just didn’t end up being a book that interested me. When I first read the premise, I was very excited and invested, but getting into it made it clear that it just wasn’t for me. Hopefully it works for others out there!

This was a fun book.
It combines a lot of elements and genres into something really action-packed. It’s an Urban Fantasy with superheroes and undercover gods with a noir-style investigation into a string of murder and a political conspiracy. Although it’s a YA it’s got some dark themes and pretty graphic violence, making it something akin to an adult Percy Jackson. Knight doesn’t pull punches, there were a couple of gory moments.
I liked the way the dual timeline played out, and how the secrets of her mother’s journal was gradually revealed to the reader. Although Cairn knew the most of story before we do, she was kept just in the dark enough to keep the investigation fresh and compelling.
I would have perhaps liked a tad more development and explanation of the ways the reincarnated gods fit into society in all their different ways, and perhaps a few quieter moments between Cairn and her estranged girlfriend, but THIS ETERNITY OF MASKS AND SHADOWS was a real page-turner.
I particularly loved Nook, Cairns grumpy Detective mentor and shapeshifter polar bear.
I could definitely see this as a Netflix limited series. The story wraps up perfectly in this standalone novel, but leaves a few threads in the epilogue to hint at the character future, which could lend themselves to a follow-up.

I absolutely loved the threads of mystery and the twists in this book- I'm usually pretty good at predicting everything but not so here! Its also fairly fast paced which makes it easy to devour.

Very good read. I enjoyed this one, there were slow spots but still a very good read. It was interesting.

So much mythology in one book! I loved the mixing of the different gods of different cultures. And it’s a mystery? So good.

It is so great to read a standalone ! This was a good story, the adventure part is strong and well managed. If you love superheros, urban fantasy and a pinch of thrills, I believe you will enjoy this book. I loved how the relationship was managed, it was just normal and that's refreshing. The premise was interesting and it definitely delivered !

I absolutely loved this book. Mystery & mythology paired together is something that should happen ALL THE TIME. The writing style really immerses the reader in a world that you won't want to leave. I think my only complaint is the pacing could have been a wee bit faster, but honestly, that's only if I'm really trying to nit pick. Now excuse me while I go read everything Knight has ever written.

I feel bad because the publisher sent this to me for free via Netgalley, but i just couldn't get myself interested in this book. The characters felt flat and the mythology was confusing. The pacing also felt off, because the chapters droned on and it felt like being stuck in limbo. I've been putting off writing a review for this, but i finally decided to write it. Maybe this book just wasn't for me. I picked it up because the mythology and the idea of Urban Fantasy with gods, and a murder mystery on top etc would be dope. The romance was not that bad but it could have been better. The writing was also mediocre

The premise of this book sounded absolutely fantastic, gods being one of us, living among us, but something about the execution of this just didn't quite work for me.
This definitely had more of a mystery feel rather than fantasy, which I didn't really expect going into it, and it definitely threw me off.
This book could have done with being a bit longer, giving more time to the plot and character work, which would help to immerse the reader in the story more. I think the book was trying to be too many things, and it definitely could have been all of those, with the right page count.

I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Mystery and Mythology! This book had me hooked from page one. Loved it!
Thank you kindly to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this review copy.

honestly, this book kind of gave me percy jackson meets murder mystery, but this was not it. i mean, it went all over the place and they would just like jump between all these different plot points, which got to be kind of confusing. and, the whole god part was honestly so confusing.

Unfortunately, I lost this copy and can't read it. I'll rate it high due to that I feel like this can be a new favorite of mine.

This book is FUN!
The mix of different themes and characters and ways of approaching topics was definitely a pro for me. It's different. And at this point, I love books that take something that could be just plain and boring and make it into something you like reading.
The book went a bit deeper into the themes and it wasn't solely all about what's happening. It really makes you think about yourself, about people and what we go through life, the decisions we make, the consequences we face...
Who would like it: if you like mysteries, books about diety and magic, books with a lot of plots and twists, if you like mythology and detective stories. It may sound like a weird mix but it works!

A faster paced contemporary mystery involving a unique spin on mythology, great characters and a fascinating world. I enjoyed this thoroughly and how it felt original while having aspects I was familiar with. Some parts I wish were slowed down a tad more to give more depth to characters, but overall I enjoyed this read!

This book felt like a guilty pleasure. It is definitely action-packed, fast pased, and combines some interesting genres (urban fantasy, politics, and mystery being the primary genres). While reading it I very much enjoyed it. After finishing and thinking more about it, while I still did enjoy and like it, I started to see some issues I had with it. The major one is the world-building and info-dumping, particularly at the beginning of the novel. I felt that often the lore started to contradict itself, especially as we are combing so many various cultural folklores, myths, and gods. And that contradiction and combining leads to moments that feel culturally insensitive and poorly researched.
To end on a positive though, I did enjoy how the MC's sexuality was handeled. It was never a major thing or used to show how "progresive" it was, it simply was because that is how it is.

I really enjoyed the female/female romance in this one. I liked how the author left it open for another book but left it so it could be a stand alone at the same time. I really like this world.

I thought the idea of this book was amazing but something felt missing for it. I think there was not enough explanation and background. I couldn't connect with the story or characters so I just couldn't bring myself to finish that. Perhaps I will return to it at another time since I love mythology but not sure at this time. Thank you to Netgalley for the arc !
