This book was so incredibly helpful to me after I lost my father. I immediately bought copies for multiple family members, and have referred back to it from time to time. I also bought the author's memoir!

This book came to me at the right time. I was grieving the loss of my Mom and it was very useful for me.

I would recommend this book to others looking to understand. the physical strain of grief and how much it plays a role in our body. I just finished reading it and now my colleague is reading it too!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book while grieving the loss of my mother. I liked this book more than some other books on grief, because it explained why I am feeling the way I am, and gave some concrete ways to try to heal.

I recommend this book to anyone experiencing a loss.

A great guide on how to handle your anxiety while in a grief period. Bidwell Smith does an amazing job at explaining anxiety, grief, and providing concrete steps you can take to handle these two. This is a great book to read if you have ever experienced a loss of a loved one or are going through a period of anxiety.

After losing two important family members in 2018, I did a lot of research and soul searching. One thing I didn't expect to feel was anxiety. Sadness, yes. Depression, of course. Anxiety was not something I expected to be so all consuming. This book was very relatable and open to showing how anxiety and grief go hand in hand. I do feel like I will reread this one in the future.

I really liked reading this - I kept a lot of notes, because there's some insight I can share with my grief support group. I thought a lot of it was so helpful and insightful. The author really seems to talk from a place of experience.

I was drawn to this book because I was hit hard when I lost my father over eight years ago, and I still struggle with the feelings his absence has left.

I started crying as soon as I began reading this book. The book is designed to help readers figure out how to get a grip on anxiety and learn how to feel good again, which I think it did accomplish.

The book contains little snippets of wisdom that I knew but needed to be reminded of, such as losing someone we love is an experience that stays with us all our lives. I think this can be applied not only to losing someone through death but also to any loss we feel.

I took the time to read each chapter and make notes. It was nice to see the inclusion of quotes and information from other authoritative sources and information from other books about grief and anxiety.

The book provided practical information and tips as well as resources for further study. For anyone struggling with a loss or anxiety, I would recommend picking up a copy.

I have been grieving for 6 years. And during that time my anxiety has sky rocketed. I am anxious about being happy again. Thanks to Claire Bidwell Smith I know that this a normal part of the process and in some ways she has made me less anxious. An important book for anyone who has suffered a loss

Interesting idea and explanation for feelings after the loss of a loved one. I was hoping for a more broad idea of grief in the handling of the material (not all feelings of grief arise due to a death) especially in light of the many articles now discussing the feelings many are experiencing during the pandemic may be grief. And, the ideas are certainly applicable, if not throughly explored in that light.

10/10 would recommend this especially for those who’ve suffered the loss of a loved one! This is beautifully written for those who are struggling with the grieving process. I personally was drawn to this book because after my dad passed away 5 years ago, I developed severe anxiety. This book thoughtfully walks you through such a sensitive topic, supported by personal testimonies and personal development prompts. I was a bit nervous to read this because it is such an emotional, sensitive topic for me; I went through each chapter and completed the prompts and genuinely feel as though I have a better understanding of my own grieving process.

In "Anxiety: The Missing Stage of Grief", Claire Bidwell Smith provides help and hope for those who have gone through a loss, or those who are loving someone who has. This book provides a lot of practical helps, personal anecdotes, and resources for those who are experiencing anxiety after loss. It was very helpful to me personally, and I believe many others will find it helpful as well.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This is one to definitely take your time on. Authors have said that in the past and I’ve ignored it - but it’s very true with this book.

I believe that two years ago (shortly after my daughter’s death), this would have hit the spot. That’s where I was in my grief and my healing. I’m not there anymore but that doesn’t mean it didn’t give me guidance, peace, and some level of acceptance.

It’s maybe a bit “wordier” than I prefer - I like direct. That’s a personal preference. It’s well written and researched.
