Heirarches is more than a futuristic look at AI, it is a look into the dynamic between men and women. It looks at our relationships with sex and each other. How your social class determines so much of your life opportunities. This would be a great Bookclub book. What a fantastic conversation starter.

This book was an interesting read. Sylv.ie is an advanced artificial lifeform constructed specifically for sex and pleasing her "husband." His human wife and child live downstairs. He visits Sylv.ie when he can. Sylvi.ie is programmed not only to please her husband in every way, but to serve the family as well. It soon becomes clear that his human wife is deeply resentful. We see this small world through Sylv.ie's eyes as she questions it and becomes more self-aware. The author does a good job of humanizing Sylv.ie by showing how inhumane she and others like her are treated.

The Hierarchies – OMG. This novel was everything I have ever hoped for in a book! I am a huge fan of anything dealing with Artificial Intelligence/dystopian story lines, so when I saw this cover I jumped as fast as I could.

This novel follows Sylv.ie, a synthetic woman. She is a fully sentient robot who has been designed to cater to her Husband’s every want and need. She lives by herself on the top floor of his luxurious home. She is barely tolerated by his human wife, and she is concealed from their child. She watches this family live their lives through the window as they’re in the garden. She longs to experience more in life, but she will only tell this to her diary. But are these kinds of thoughts allowed? If they aren’t, how will she be punished?

I don’t want to give any more of this story away, you just have to read it. The fact that this is a debut novel will also blow you away. I cannot wait for more work from this author, and so look forward to everyone picking this one up to read! AMAZING!!

The Hierarchies was a gripping read from start to finish. Following Sylv.ie's journey of self discovery as well as the discovery of secrets kept from her this book takes a look at what life would be like as an intelligent pleasure doll in the not so distant future. In some senses this created world seems far different to ours, but in others, very similar. It makes you think of whether this could be what we are soon experiencing ourselves.
