Katharine McGee writes a DAMN good story. This was a great resolution to the duology. It wrapped up many loose ends, but also left me wanting more. Can't wait for more from the author!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an eARC of this title.

This book (with peace and love) was bad. No hate to the author. However, the fact that this book was so bad has prevented me from wanting to pick up her other books (which I had planned on doing prior to reading this).

This second book ruined any happiness and fun I had from the first book. I really enjoyed the first book. I thought it was a fun, easy, and stress-free read, so I went into the sequel with hopes that it could only get better. I was so wrong.

Every choice that any character made went against the hard-won character development in American Royals.

Not one of the new relationships makes any logical sense.

The reason why I rated this so low is because I thought this was a trilogy and things would be resolved in the next and last book. But apparently this was the last book in this series. (view spoiler) This might have been satisfying if we had seen a good enough motive for her actions, but instead we get screwed over by this ending where all of the good and kind characters are unhappy or forced into unwanted situations.

I don’t recommend this. If you pick this series up at all, stop with the first book so your hopes and dreams aren’t crushed.

American Royals was a really fun duology! I loved the twist that followed an American monarchy rather than an American presidency.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, Majesty was a little bit of a disappointment. I think it was largely in part because I felt like there should have been one more book to wrap things up in a more enjoyable and spread out way. I felt as though Majesty wrapped up incredibly quickly and the ending was not as satisfying to me as I had hoped.

I loved all the perspectives of the characters — it definitely gave me Gossip Girl type vibes, which Katherine McGee is great at, especially considering the Thousandth Floor books. I think the characters are fun and I loved seeing the way they all transformed throughout the length of American Royals and Majesty.

While I had hoped to enjoy it more than I did, it was still a fun read and overall, an enjoyable duology. I'm looking forward to more of Katherine McGee's books in the future.

I really enjoyed this book! I do wish we had more than two books to explore everything about the Washington Monarchy.

Unfortunately did not end up loving this as I had hoped. It seems as if the characters from the first book are completely different from the second and everyone has suddenly changed their minds so quickly. This definitely took to a different direction I did not like.

I didn't really enjoy the first book in this series, but this one was a good addition to the series. I liked the parallel universe of having royals in America.

3.75/5

A decent sequel. I was hoping for certain characters to be together, but I think Katharine McGee wanted to take a more realistic take. Beatrice is learning about her new role as queen with huge responsibilities resting upon her shoulders. Samantha definitely grew into her own person and taking control of her life. Nina and Daphne were in smaller roles in my POV during this book. I loved Beatrice and Sam's perspectives the best and they were the ones to carry the book for me. Overall, Majesty shows how intense the spotlight can be and how the public scrutiny can make you forget that the royals are people trying their best to play all the right cards.

While you got to see Beatrice become Queen, it completely contradicted everything that happned in the first book and left too many loose ends.

This was a freaking MESSS!!!!!!
My favorite character was connor and he wasn’t even IN THIS BOOK!! And he was so out of character to the point where i laughed.. (a sad laugh unfortunately)

The couples we liked and cheered for in book one? Yeah… they disappeared…
The new ones (the ones whom were so unrealistic)? Yeah they disappeared too…

I don’t know what was the point of this book… did it give me the drama I wanted out of it? YES ABSOLUTELY.. did i enjoy it? NO i felt like i wasted my time:/

I literally don’t understand why the author ended the series like this….

This was a fun but forgettable addition to this series. I enjoyed it while I was reading it but don't remember much now that I've been away from it for awhile.

Y’all I thought this was the second book of a trilogy but apparently it’s not? I‘m super disappointed. This is a 2.5 honestly. Not only did the ending give me absolutely no satisfaction, the romances were boring and as I thought the relationships from the first book would be resolved and end in HEAs I was just not satisfied. I really liked American Royals, so to be so disappointed by this is, well, disappointing.

** spoiler alert ** What did I just read?!?!

Ok. So if I had read this book as a stand-alone, it would have been great, just like book 1. However it was supposed to be the follow up to American Royals. Apparently the author thought it was okay to take ALL the relationships readers fell in love with and shipped over in book 1, throw them up in the air and switch them all around. WHAT?! I really dislike when authors start a relationship with one character, the reader falls for them and loves them together only to have them ripped apart and shoved with someone else. And it happened 4 times with the couples in this book! 😫😫😫 All this does it show the reader that each character, who professed dying love for someone in book 1, is as fickle as the changing of the weather in Texas. That none of their feelings mean anything. And for a romance reader that’s the last thing I want. I completely see why the author had the characters end up with who they ended up with, but couldn’t they have fallen for them in book 1 instead of the other people?! I feel like I was reading the Twilight Zone version of what this sequel should have been. I won’t rate it because overall it was a well-written book, but nothing included was what I wanted to happen after reading American Royals.

An amazing sequel to American Royals. I would live in this world if I could. The characters feel so real and are very well developed. I wish there was another book, but everything seems to end very nicely.

I was quite satisfied with the ending of Majesty . Do I wish some elements had been handled differently? Maybe. But overall I liked where McGee took the characters (with the exception of one) and I liked the changes that were coming. I also appreciated the emotional growth of the characters.

Majesty begins right after the King of America dies, leaving his oldest daughter Beatrice queen. She was in the process of telling her father that she wanted to abduct and run off with her guard Conner. That all changed when her father dies.

Her younger siblings, Sam and Jefferson have their own issues. Sam thinks she's in love with Teddy who comes from a blue blood family but has no money. He's also the one Beatrice's family wants her to marry. Jefferson has broken up with Nina and she's back in college, trying to get her life back to normal. Only Daphne, the royal circles 'mean' girl has other plans

What worked: This is the second book in the American Royals series. I was a big fan of the first book and couldn't wait for the sequel. So when I got approved to review the second book, I was excited! And this book doesn't disappoint!!!

What I really enjoyed was revisiting this alternative universe where America has royalty. I especially loved how McGee weaves in backstory from the previous book so readers don't forget all the intrigue and secrets.

Beatrice's life changes when her father dies. Her character arcs toward the end of the novel when she has to make the personal decision whether to have the crown be forced on her or to take things in her own hands. That doesn't mean this comes easy. There's the question of loyal and how she fits as the new Queen of America.

Sam's the 'spare' and now finds she has to take her royal calling as the next in line more seriously. She also decides to make the object of her affections-Teddy-jealous by getting a 'fake' boyfriend. Only things don't turn out the way she planned.

Jefferson's story is intertwined with Nina and Daphne. Nina seems to have grown up more and her story and new relationship with Ethan is one that I especially enjoyed. Daphne of course is still the 'mean' girl who plots to do anything she can to get Jefferson's attention and become a princess that her mother desperately wants.Saying all that, Daphne isn't the one-dimensional, stereotypical mean girl. Readers see her vulnerabilities and weaknesses that drive her to make the decisions she makes.

I think the only weakness had to be Jefferson's story. He seemed to take a backseat to the others in the story. I wanted to see more on what he thought and for McGee to dig deeper into his character.

The ending of the novel is fast-paced with many of the loose ends being tied up. Hint, Connor shows up again.

Gossip Girls meets an alternative reality where America has royalty. Fast-paced, with court intrigue, back-biting, and friendship. This sequel is a satisfying continuation of the first book.

A satisfying end to the story. I understand those who felt it could have gone for a third or more, I'm a fan of the Fleabag approach - emotional wham bam the end. While I did love the way Bea & Teddy's romance went and Sam's growth arc, I wasn't as caught up in it as the first and feel Connor and Nina got a raw deal.

The perfect sequel to the American Royals duology! I loved the idea of what it would be like to have a Royal Family in the United States. It was amazing to delve deeper into these characters and their journeys and relationships.... you are rooting for them all. The character arc that Beatrice had reminded me of Queen Victoria.... a young woman who has to prove that she can be a good ruler all while staying true to herself and changing rules for the better. Absolutely love this book!!

The first book in the series was super fun and easy to read. I especially love the way author gives us insight and side stories by using multiple characters point of view thru chapters. This series is great for YA because it showcases different personalities, self searching, friendships thru siblings and coming of age. Definitely worth the wait to continue the storyline of our favorite American Royals.

This sequel to American Royals revisited the characters we met in the first book. It actually picked up right where the first one left off. Since I had read that one awhile ago, it was hard to just jump right in again. I could have used a little review of the first book to start. The idea of American royalty is an interesting one. I thought that the topics covered in this book really echoed some of the topics that are happening right now with the British royalty and I thought that was very clever.

I enjoyed the book so much so that I was anxious to see how things played out. I do feel like she left the door open for a third book (which I would love!)
