Sadie lives with her family in Sea Salt Bay and she seems to be the only one who is a little directionless when her Plan A fails as it always does. Suddenly she is thrown into the loss of her Gampa and has big decisions on her hands. Does she throw in the towel and change direction or continue as she is ?

Tilly's books are always recommended in the book groups I'm in on Facebook.

This book has the loveliest of descriptions and really makes you feel that your in the heart of a the coastal town with the sun on your back. With great characters thrown into the mix who really show you the best of living coastally and prevent you from forgetting what's on your doorstep.

I also loved the raw reality that was included about teacher training and how it's ok to find things are not for you rather than it bring shown through rose tinted glasses which is often is in fiction.

This book is a great read and a page turner once you get past the first 25% which I found flat and slow compared to the rest of the book.

This book sounded like it was just right for me, but unfortunately I just couldn't get into it. I'm sure that others will love it.

This book kind of brought about all kinds of varying feelings for me.

The first was, a level of comfort and satisfaction from diving into a Tilly Tennant book. She is a very talented writer and her stories always bring me a bit of satisfaction, specific to her writing.

However, this one also left me a bit bored at times. I found it a little difficult to connect with Sadie, the main character. And, while I enjoyed her arc, as a whole, there were moments when I had to really force myself to keep going.

If you haven't read a book by Tilly Tennant before, I highly suggest her. And maybe you'll find this one a little more entertaining than I did.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. My review will be live, at the link given, on 8/13/22.

🧇 BOOK REVIEW 🧇

Synopsis: Run away to Sea Salt Bay, where the sand is warm and soft, the sea is a perfect blue, and a candy-coloured waffle house is about to change Sadie’s life…

For as long as she can remember, Sadie’s grandparents have run the waffle house on the pier at Sea Salt Bay. With its pretty painted chairs, sweet smells, and the warm advice of her beloved grandparents, the waffle house is like a second home

But when Sadie’s grandfather dies, leaving her grandmother without an anchor, Sadie must make a difficult decision. She quits her job and moves back home, determined to keep things going. The trouble is, she knows nothing about running a business, and learning at a million miles an hour with a shop full of hungry people isn’t easy. When she nearly burns the waffle house down, she has to admit she needs to get some help.

Her ex-boyfriend Declan promises to be there for her but Sadie worries that getting too close is a mistake – especially as he has a new girlfriend now. And anyway she’s just met newcomer Luke, with his gorgeous suntan and mellow voice…

Sadie’s family have always loved Declan and they’re not too sure about Luke, leaving Sadie unsure which way to turn. A terrible accident at sea forces her to look into her heart, but what if it’s already too late to tell the right man that she loves him?

Review: Well if that synopsis doesn’t tell you LITERALLY EVERYTHING I don’t know what will 😂 This book was okay. Nothing special, and felt like the book equivalent of binge watching trash reality television. It was really slow and nothing major actually happened until after the 70% mark which was too late for me to form a connection to the characters.

Many thanks to the publisher and @netgalley for a copy of this one in exchange for my review

3 stars because I didn't find a single one of these characters likable. It was an easy read, and I finished it in two train rides. It wasn't great, but it kept me occupied. I wish I got more story at the end of the book so that the readers could see how the Waffle House ended up, but it just seems to abruptly end, with everything tied up nice and neat and leaving me wishing for at least a little bit more.

Really enjoyed this book; the characters were all likeable and the plot was really nice. I must admit I much prefer a short, snappy chapter compared to the long ones in this book, but it didn’t put me off at all and I think I actually finished it quicker. I think I would have quite liked an epilogue to find a little more about how things ended up, but I enjoyed it all the same.

Another great hit for me by Tilly Tennant I loved Salt Sea Bay and all the great characters there and was sad when I finished it. Great settings, great characters and romance makes it a perfect beach read

If you love stolen kisses under the pier, walking along spray-capped shores eating ice cream, then this is the book for you

Taking over the Waffle House that her grandparents ran is a challenge by itself but add in a family against you and a grandmother who doesn’t remember what day it is can make it even harder

A sweet story of complex relationships which dealt sensitively with all issues. Complete credit to the author for bringing the addicting characters to life.

Sadie left her job to help her grandma at the waffle house. And life slowly transformed for her.

The writing was warm and fun with moments of seriousness in between. Characters were fleshed out well. It needed a bit more of the oomph.

Overall, it was a pure escapist reading.

How I loved this story, however it didn't make me crave waffles which confused me slightly. In fact there really isn't too much talk about waffles itself, more about family and just what to do with the waffle house now that Sadie's grandpa has unfortunately died.

As it is clear her Gammy, April is struggling, but no one initially is quite sure whether its grief or something more, that is leading to April's current behaviour.

All of the family that live in Sea Salt Bay, which oddly is a location name that had me thinking of salted caramel every time I read it, have their own jobs and none are really sure what to do with the waffle house.

But Sadie who is rather impulsive decides she wants to quit her teacher training, which based on having seen her try to control a classroom, I'm inclined to agree she may not be in the right line of work, and to help April re-open and run the waffle house without thinking it through.

And it soon becomes apparent, just how impulsive Sadie is, and while she is dealing with various family dilemmas, I'm also enjoying trying to work out who the main romantic interest for the book is, and just who she may end up with.

For there are two front runners, and I felt like Sadie wasn't really sure of her own heart for most of the book, and because I quite liked both men, I was unsure which way to will her on too!

I really did love the seaside setting of Sea Salt Bay, and all of Sadie's family members. It was just a really enjoyable calming read that was just what I needed at the point I sat down and read it.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I adored this book!. The storyline was beautiful. Following Sadie's return to her hometown, she is determined to help her grandmother get their famous Waffle House on the Pier up and running once again. Whilst there, she finds herself juggling family issues, along with both old and new love!. But ultimately, and I have to say a definite highlight of this gorgeous story, is that Sadie finally finds what she has been looking for,

This book was written beautifully and had me captivated from the start. I adored the characters and their own little quirks, the setting was dreamy, and the ending was exactly what I needed!. A definite must read!.

In Sea Salt Bay, the waffle house is a staple on the pier for both residents and tourists. Sadie, the granddaughter of the owners, can't picture the pier without it, so when her grandfather suddenly dies and the waffle house is in jeopardy, she leaves her teaching course to help her grandma run the waffle house. But coming back to Sea Salt Bay means regular run-ins with the ex she's still pining after and his new perfect girlfriend. Those feelings quickly start to disappear, though, as Sadie grows close to a newcomer in town and takes on the stress of running the waffle house with her increasingly forgetful grandma.
I was looking for a quick romantic read and this proved to be it, but it was almost too quick. I feel like the whole novel was rushed and that there were several spots where more depth could be added to the story and the characters. I didn't even realize it was the end until the book was literally over. I felt that the ending especially just tried to wrap everything up quickly without really resolving anything.

Oh I just loved The Waffle House on the Pier by Tilly Tennant. I love all of Tilly’s books and this one was no exception, I literally could not put this book down. Loved how the family members all stepped up to help out their elderly grandmother to save the Waffle House.

I do like reading Tilly Tennant but, the story was a bit predictable. Luckily it was a easy summer read. I did finish.
