Thus us the first book I have read by this author.
This is the perfect read for a lovely sunny day whether on the beach or at home.
The story follows Sadie, a trainee teacher who chooses to give that up to help her grandmother run the family waffle business after her grandfather's death in a seaside village.
She also deals with her past relationship & her new one, friendships & family ties.
Thus boom is an easy read romance but it also has a lot more within it, which makes it a good enjoyable read.
Thanks to netgalley & the publisher for allowing to read.

What a lovely book! The location is a coastal town in Devon, England which is known as the English Riviera. It sounded so delightful in the novel that I went online to learn more and look at lovely pictures of the area. Sadie’s family is mostly involved in catering to the tourist trade in their small seaside town. She, however, had wanted something different so she’d left her teenage boyfriend behind to go off to university to become a teacher. Now that she’s experiencing what teaching is really like she’s not so sure that she made the right decision. And when her grandfather’s death triggers painful decisions the family needs to make about the waffle house that her grandparents had run together on the pier, she decides to come back home to help her grandmother run the waffle house.

At first I thought this book was going to be a typical second-chance romance about sadie and her former boyfriend who seems like just the nicest guy even though he’s moved on and has had a new girlfriend for several years. But there is also a new guy who has moved to their town and who seems deeply attracted to Sadie as she is to him.

She will have very difficult decisions to make about her grandmother and how to help the business survive as her grandmother’s age and mental condition makes it increasingly impossible for Sadie’s original ideas to be borne out.

These are real people with real problems and I soon became quite involved with their story while eager to know if or how Sadie was going to resolve her difficulties...and which kind and charming hunky guy she was going to end up with.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley;
however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I love this author’s books and this book instantly appealed to me with it’s bright colourful cover! My mind was straight away filled with images of small seaside towns and their piers and, of course, platefuls of waffles and pancakes piled high with various toppings! We are introduced to Sadie, a teacher in training. Her family have lived in the little seaside town of Salt Sea Bay all their lives and, apart from Sadie and her sister Lucy, all of her family work in the tourist industry – her parents run boat trips around the bay, her brother runs a diving school and her grandparents run the Waffle House on the pier. Their lives are devastated when her grandfather dies, and knowing that her grandmother can’t run the Waffle House on her own, Sadie gives up her teaching job to help run it.

I loved Sadie’s character! It felt that she didn’t really have much luck in life and you find yourself rooting for her from the very beginning! Even she would admit that she was a terrible teacher, but her business sense when helping out her grandmother was also sadly lacking! Thankfully she has good friends around her, and when we are introduced to Declan, her ex-boyfriend, you are kept wondering whether they would rekindle their relationship. I really liked Declan’s character and thought he would be ideal to show Sadie some love in her life…but that was all until we are introduced to newcomer, Luke! Luke, initially, really doesn’t make a good impression on her, or her family, but he does leave me with a dilemma as to who I would prefer Sadie to end up with!!

The story is such a lovely read that takes us through the trials and tribulations of a close-knit family who are obviously still struggling in the aftermath of their grandfather’s death. I loved her grandmother, April, and felt it was such a sad storyline as it became obvious that she was suffering from dementia. Whilst I’ve just painted a very sad view of this book, it really isn’t like that at all though! It was full of light-hearted, loving, funny and downright sexy moments! In between wiping away tears, I laughed out loud, especially at the stories of Sadie trying to teach her class, and blushed at the antics of Sadie and her man (and no, I’m not going to tell you which one it is!)

Of course, we couldn’t let a review pass by without mentioning the topic in the title – waffles!! I think a waffle house on a pier sounds absolutely divine and I’d definitely visit it if there is one in the next seaside town I visit! The descriptions of strawberries, chocolate and cream was just too much and it certainly made me want to reach into the pages and take a plateful! As with every other book by this author, I was totally caught up in the loveliness which oozed out of this book! The characters were all likeable and down-to-earth, the storyline holds you until the very last page and the location is just perfect! Would definitely recommend!!

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Another great book from Tilly. Sadie’s family own a Waffle House on the pier that is run by her grandparents. When her granddad dies she is the only one in the family who wants to keep it open with her grandma’s help. Can she succeed or will it be too much for her.

A fantastic feel good summer read, the plot was not predictable and I genuinely did not know how the story was going to end. The characters were likable and the book was just the escapism we need right now.

This book literally transports you to the English seaside of Sea Salt Bay where Sadie returns to help out her Gammy after her grandfather passes away. A nice easy escapism read with a hint of romance!

It was Ok. Not what I expected. Thought it was going to be more about Sadie working at the waffle house and all the problems she would face as she learns to run the business. Sadie only worked there for two maybe three days. It felt like most of the book was the family fighting about what to do with the business. The book was more sad than a fun and cute story. Didn't the family notice anything about April? It's not like she changed overnight. Found the beginning slow and boring. I'm not really sure why Sadie insisted on being a teacher. The whole family was overbearing. Wasn't really a fan of any of the characters. I highly doubt April would have written Sadie out of the will. She would have forgotten why she was mad at Sadie. It was hard to believe Sadie was still pining over a man she hasn't dated in over three or four years. It just didn't get romance vibes between her and Declan. Sadie's girlfriends were the worst out of everyone and didn't actually seem like actual friends. They were completely rude to Declan and his girlfriend.

Give the book a try, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I thought it was going to be like the author's previous books. I did enjoy the quick mention of the donkey sanctuary. I do look forward to reading more by the author since I enjoyed her previous books. I love the cover of the book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bookouture through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Distracting enough for this trying time but I didn't really enjoy this. The story was too predictable and the characters didn't really click for me. Once again a romance where people fall into each others arms a little too fast for my taste.

Family drama and romance with a quaint English seaside town....everything you need for a cozy, summer read. The characters were real and like able.
If you want a feel good easy romance story, this is a book you should pick up.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read and review this book for my honest opinion.

In this book we follow Sadie who lives in a small tourist town so Sea Side Bay. Everyone here essential has a business that is somehow connected to tourism but she wants more from life. She at the age of 26 joins teacher training in an attempt to mould tiny young minds into something better but fails disastrously at it. Suddenly her grandfather dies leaving her grandmother in shambles. They both had a very old waffle house ( as indicated by the title) which is almost historical to the town. Sadie's family members decide to sell it off even without her grandmother April's opinion. Sadie is determined that this is a wake up call and is determined to save the waffle house. In the course of time she almost dies ( read to find out how) and also breaks up someone else's relationship. I enjoyed this story so very much. I finished it in 3 days and when I did I just smiled like an idiot. The cover is absolutely stunning. The themes of emotions, family, career, second chance love, sibling relationship, grandparents and their grandchildren relationship and so much more is stuffed into some pages. The chapters are a bit long but won't bore you for a second. The language is very lucid and I loved the narration a lot. Even the love story was super cute and just the right amount of steamy. The relationship tiff between Sadie and her ex boyfriend cum bestfriend Declan is shown in such a relatable light that you may find it very non fictional. I loved the dynamic between Saide and her grandmother April who has stared suffering from Dementia and also Sadoe and her siblings Lucy and Ewan ( mainly Ewan). Kat ( Ewan's wife) is also such an Important character. All the characters are so well developed. The story takes over a period of about 2 weeks and so much happens that it fills you with excitement. Nothing was predictable. I enjoyed the book through and through.

There isn't anything inherently wrong with this book, but I just don't think it's for me. The pacing felt too slow, the plot too obvious. It all just felt a bit dull, overdone. I will say that the setting itself is lovely, and I do think it makes for a good bit of escapism. Ultimately, however, it just fell short.

I unfortunately quit reading at 43%. The pacing is unbearably slow and each paragraph so repetitive. You could summarize everything that's happened so far within one chapter.

When Sadies beloved Grandpa dies her Grandma April is naturally devastated. They owned The Waffle House on the pier at Sea Salt Bay and ran it together for years.
April’s family decide in the wake of his death that she will no longer be able to run the Waffle house alone and that it should be sold.
Only Sadie believes that returning to the waffle house might do April good, that it might return some focus to her life. Unfortunately April seems to be suffering from more than grief and Sadie might just have to admit she has made a mistake.
Really enjoyed this - the characters were all really strong and the setting was so well described I felt I could see Sea Salt Bay.

I’m actually overwhelmed with how great this book is. I really loved everything about it and how well it was written. The characters were all likeable to & the storyline with Sadie’s Grandma was heartbreaking. I’m super glad about things with Sadie & Declan and that she remained happy with Luke as I felt so bad for him after his past heartbreak. Loved the setting of the beach and the small quint village which I’m glad was in it as it set the mood really well. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Another fabulous book from Tilly Tennant. This is the kind of book I have been gravitating towards in lockdown, lots of cosy escapism. I adored the setting of this book and all the characters and of course the waffle house! Can't say I have ever read about one before or even visited one but it is now on the future to do list!

Highly recommend if you are looking for a cosy summery read!

Great summer read! Story was not too deep, just a simple, fun, light, easy read.
The Waffle House has been a landmark in the cozy seaside town of Sea Salt Bay for over 50 years. Sadie's Grandparents owned it and her and her friends and family have grown up loving the wonderful food her grandma always gave them. When her grandfather dies suddenly, the fate of the Waffle House is up in the air. Grandma insists she can continue working there, but the family notices that she isn't as alert and focused as she once was. With everyone else having careers and families of their own, it is up to Sadie to save the Waffle House. But can she give up her training as a teacher to take over the business, and what about the new guy in town, Luke, not to mention her teenage love Declan? So many what ifs, can anything finally work out for Sadie?
I loved the characters and the fun banter they shared. Really enjoyed this story.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

When Sadies grandpa dies, her grandma April is left alone to grieve and run their waffle house on the pier.

Only soon it becomes apparent April is struggling with her health without knowing it while Sadie helps out to keep the waffle house going she sees her ex love Declan with his new girlfriend around while she gets to know and date Luke a newcomer to the area.

After Declan and his girlfriend split up April finds herself torn, should she stay with Luke or go back to Declan?

But most importantly can she keep the Waffle house going?

This was a fun new read and I loved the unique setting being a waffle house as I've never read about one before. The storyline about dementia is very relatable to many of us I feel and the old love new love storyline too Sadie was a great head strong character and I liked the fact she didn't give up on keeping the family's past business alive despite everyone going against the idea. A sweet summer treat of a book!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!
