This book was so cute. I loved how the author made you feel like you were back in regency times while also maintaining feministic views and showing female comradery. We also got a quick but to the point recap of who everyone was and why they were important which as someone who is coming in a few books into the series I am quite appreciative of. I thought the accidents were clever but one too many happened for it to be quite plausible that more people wouldn't have freaked out. Once I caught on to whodunnit it was quite clear to see the seeds that were planted throughout the story earlier on, which I think is quite clever of an author to do.

All in all, I recommend this book and will continue in the series myself.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a free copy for review.

This series is a long time favorite, I am always happy when the next book comes out. I liked the sort of espionage aspect of this one, especially combined with the house party. Also happy to see that Frances and George relationship is progressing.

*Thanks to the publisher for reaching out to me with an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

It was an okay read. I would love to elaborate more, but the contents of this story have escaped my mind by now...

This will be such a great read for historical fiction and cozy mystery lovers. Look at the cover! I would recommend starting from the beginning of the series and enjoy.

This was a very fun and charming mystery series! The protagonist is really carefree and very fun! The mystery was very predictable but it wasn’t much focused on much. Still, I recommend this for fans of the Lady Evelyn mysteries.

This is another fabulous installment in a delightful historical mystery series. I thoroughly enjoyed A Lady's Guide to Mischief and Murder, which is cleverly written with wit and an abundance of historical amusement , I will definitely read any and all forthcoming additions to this series. Much gratitude to Net Galley, Dianne Freeman, and the publisher for this wonderful escapade of a book.

Frances, the countess of Harleigh, has been helping plan her sister Lily's wedding. When Lily and her fiance Leo give Frances the news they are expecting all the plans are thrown out the window. A wedding must happen fast for scandal looms on the horizon. Luckily Frances' secret fiance George has the use of his brother's estate. The perfect place for a small family wedding away from the eyes of London society.
What could be better than the bucolic English countryside, with close friends and family. The party is only waiting on the arrival of the bride's mother and groom's parents when accidents begin to happen. At their arrive at the station a full luggage cart goes out of control and Leo and George are almost ran over. The estate manager suffers a fall from his horse that he claims was not an accident, then a servant dies, and a guest is wounded by an arrow.
After a few more incidents, it becomes clear someone is setting up accidents but who, only family at friends are around. Frances and George begin investigating but can they catch the culprit before someone else dies?
This is a great series for historical and mystery fans. I adore Frances and George as a couple and you find out a secret between George and Frances mother in this book! I have loved each book in the series and they always go to the top of my TBR pile.

I don't know why the title didn't tip me off that this was a cozy historical mystery, but color me surprised.

This was an interesting read. However, I did not know this was a part of a series, so I wish I had known that before requesting the book. Overall, I think this was a decent read: good plot, fascinating characters, cute romance, and strong writing. But, overall, it just lacked luster for me. I would consider reading the series, though!

I really enjoyed this book even though I'm not usually a fan of historical fiction. I am, however, a fan of Agatha Christie and this book definitely gave me Christie vibes.

I really enjoyed this entertaining book. Lady Katherine is a wonderful character, especially at a time when female journalists were rare. I kept thinking of Lady Whistledown from Bridgerton, except Kate was so much more than a gossip. I recommend this book!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Murder mystery meets romcom might be my favorite blend that I never get bored of! A sharp witted columnist teams up with a charming detective who blames her for nearly ending his career. I couldn't read this one fast enough!!!

I came across this series by accident and I am glad that I did. I love the historical aspect and that it takes place in England. I would recommend this series to anyone who like a good mystery.

I requested this book through Netgalley looking for some good historical mysteries, not realizing it is the third book in the series. Luckily the previous two are available of Scribd so now I am all caught up and ready for the fouth book coming out in July (which I also already received through Netgalley). I’m sure you can induce from this that I have been thoroughly enjoying these reads.

We follow Frances, the countess of Harleigh, as she gets herself involved in situations her mother would Not approve off… namely, solving murder cases with her charming neighbour George. Frances is a lady and part of society, which is something may need a bit getting used to. Most of the people in these stories really don’t have their priorities straight and can be quite exhausting at times. Once I got over these annoyances I had a really fun time with these reads.

Frances has a very pleasant and fun ‘voice’. It is an absolute joy to be follow her narrative. After an unhappy marriage (which got her her title) she is now a widow and ready to make her way in the world in the way She wants to. She is clever and gets things done, whilst also being great in social situations (very handy if you want to lowkey interogate someone involved in a murder case).

This series is, for me, quite romance heavy. Especially in this book, which is set in the week of Lily’s wedding. Surprisingly though, I don’t mind it at all. Frances is a widow, and has been married for 10 years. She has a daughter. She has been through it all. So her relationship isn’t angsty whatsoever. It is based on friendship, with a lot of mutual respect and an equal partnership in every aspect. And it is just really lovely. Also, because most of their ‘alone time’ is spent discussing the case, the mystery never suffers under the romance either.

And the mysteries are definitely satisfying. They are never obvious, but the clues are all there so the solution doesn’t come out of nowhere either. Every time the clues fall in place just a few pages before they do for Frances and George. Another aspect I greatly appreciate in these books is that the police isn’t incompetent. Although they aren’t very present (we do want Frances to solve the whole thing after all), they are always usefull and never discredit Frances’ input, nor do they claim to know it better and go off on their own ridiculous assumptions.

Overall, this book (and its predecessors) are really witty and lighthearted reads whilst still be absolutely captivating and intriguing. Perfect if you are looking for a cozy (historical) mystery and don’t mind plunging in the midst of British aristocracy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy house party mystery set in Victorian England. The main characters are delightfully witty and I look forward to spending more time with them in the next book!

Another fun to read addition to a great series. I love cozy mysteries and these are a favorite, my only negative is I wish they were longer.

This was such a treat! A combination of Downton Abbey and Nancy Drew! Such a fun book for both romance and mystery readers alike. Lady Katherine is a wonderful character and I'd love to read more stories featuring her and her friends.

I love Frances' wit & sass! George is definitely a man a head of his time and appreciates Frances for who she is. Another charming mystery from Dianne Freeman. I also enjoy the character development in the Countess of Harleigh Mystery series. Always a fast moving, fun story. I hope this isn't the last of this series!

I wasn't a big fan of the previous books in this series but this one was worth it. An intriguing mystery with a nice touch of Regency history, enjoyable characters, and an even surprising twist.
