If I didn't know that DiAnn Mills wrote this book before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I'd think she tore a page from the headlines. Since I do know that, I wonder if she knew how prophetic it would be.

When FBI Special Agent Heather Lawrence's marriage to Dr. Chad Lawrence cracks, she decides to take a trip to Salzburg, Germany to regroup and to plan how she will raise the baby she carries without her husband. Mere hours into the flight - in fact, it hasn't left US airspace yet - people on the flight begin showing signs of great distress. Nosebleeds, vomiting, breathing distress, then death seem to stalk the passengers. Heather recognizes the symptoms as being similar to something her husband has been treating as part of Doctors Without Borders. How could something like this happen on an enclosed airplane unless someone brought it aboard?

Chad Lawrence has never believed in the existence of God, and nothing his wife says has changed his mind. As he continues to volunteer overseas, and sees all of the preventable death, he becomes more entrenched in the idea that he needs to focus his life's work on curing the incurable. That focus necessitates ridding his life of the one thing that takes his focus off his work - his wife. Yes, he still loves her but he can't be the godly man she wants anyway, so why not free her? When he suddenly comes under scrutiny for creating the virus that has infected her plane, can he prove that he is all about saving lives, not taking them?

As the body count from the plane mounts, and the passengers are quarantined, can Heather use her skills as an FBI behavioral analyst to weed out the person or persons responsible for releasing the virus?

Airborne delves into the hysteria that arises from an unknown virus outbreak, and points the way to God as the only hope. While the book didn't detail a pandemic like we have been living through, it gave a small taste of what has been happening by closing airports in Chicago and Houston.

Readers who love romantic suspense that hits pretty close to home will enjoy Airborne. It was a little scary how real it was! I definitely recommend

Wow! Mills has done it again. Loved this one! It keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. I read this during the pandemic, so I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it, but it quickly pulled me in. Solid Christian message. Interesting to see how people responded during the situation (with some moving closer to and some away from God ... kind of like what I saw happening in the world around me with Covid-19).

It’s scary that we are living these days. Different senecrious but the same. Always enjoy DiAnn’s books. Thank you for allowing me to read them.

"Airborne" by DiAnn Mills was an interesting read since we are experiencing the Covid-19 scare right now in life. I had a little hard time getting into the story at first, though. But once I got past the first few chapters, I was hooked! I really liked the main character, Heather, a lot. I was routing for her and Chase the whole way through! The ending was a little predictable, not much of a twist, but I still enjoyed it.

This wasn't my favorite novel by DiAnn Mills, but I definitely would still recommend reading this one.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

The story had interesting elements, but I never connected with the characters. A little disappointed, but I still appreciate the opportunity to read an advance copy from NetGalley.

An interesting idea. Airborne had a thrilling plot, a wonderful redemption, and a sweet ending. But, the writing style was long winded and took away from the suspense of the story.

“My flawless design will be the architecture of twenty-first century power. My calculations show wisdom and foresight to all those who crave the perfect crime.”

Eek! Intensely riveting...the bad guys are bad and the good guys have to lean into their faith to outrun this deadly virus. Initially, I wasn’t sure if I would love this book or not due to the timing of COVID-19. However, I was pleasantly surprised and yet, not surprised by how well Mills wrote this novel. The mystery, the science, and the education around viruses made for an excellent read. I walked away feeling better informed about airborne viruses, while being thoroughly entertained with the storyline. Though Mills had no idea what would be happening in real life at the time of her book release, she did amazing job bringing out how the medical, scientific, and law enforcement community would work around an event of this caliber.

“The hours and days ahead loomed with a ghastly unknown—a nightmare.”

One of the things I loved most about this book is Heather’s strength as a woman and FBI analyst. I enjoyed walking through how she thought things out in her job, flight, and relationship with her husband, and God. She is a testament to how effectively women can complement the workforce. Her heart for others and God speak to how science can complement faith. The interactions with her nonbelieving husband was full of strength and fortitude. As a reader, she kept me on the edge of my seat wondering if Chad was a suspect in releasing a deadly virus on this plane or if something else was at play. I can’t share much else about this book as I don’t want to give away the mystery… But it kept me guessing right to the end. If you want a riveting mystery that will give you a better understanding of airborne virus threats, I think you will enjoy “Airborne.”

“Love. Laughter. Priceless commodities that Heather didn’t possess. Yet this trip offered an opportunity to rekindle her faith in God and chart a course for the future.”

Though her trip didn’t progress as she thought, her devotion to God increases. Her faith is hit on all sides, but it also sees her through. I loved this faith-filled journey that dealt with the struggle of science and God.

I received a copy of the book through NetGalley by the publisher. All opinions have been given honestly.

This was an interesting read as we fight COVID currently. We follow FBI Agent Heather Lawrence, who is pregnant, and her estranged husband Chad as they try to figure out who has released a deadly airborne pathogen on a flight to Europe. Heather is on that flight and her estranged husband Chad who studies those same pathogens quickly becomes a suspect. DiAnn Mills provides interesting character development and a plot that moves along nicely. I was given this book by NetGalley and all opinions are my own.

Heather Lawrence’s long-awaited vacation to Salzburg wasn’t supposed to go like this. Mere hours into the transatlantic flight, the Houston FBI agent is awakened when passengers begin exhibiting horrific symptoms of an unknown infection. As the virus quickly spreads and dozens of passengers fall ill, Heather fears she’s witnessing an epidemic similar to ones her estranged husband studies for a living—but this airborne contagion may have been deliberately released.

While Heather remains quarantined with other survivors, she works with her FBI colleagues to identify the person behind this attack. The prime suspect? Dr. Chad Lawrence, an expert in his field . . . and Heather’s husband. The Lawrences’ marriage has been on the rocks since Chad announced his career took precedence over his wife and future family and moved out.

As more victims fall prey days after the initial outbreak, time’s running out to hunt down the killer, one who may be closer to the victims than anyone ever expected.

I couldn't put this book down once I started to read it. All Heather wanted to do was get away from her husband and take a vacation. Chad, her husband, was supposed to go with her to Salzburg. But he has put work above everything else in his life. Including his wife. Heather isn't willing to give Chad the divorce he ask for. On the way to Salzburg passengers begin to get sick and some of them die. Once the plane lands all non sick passengers are quarantined. Now Heather's work is just beginning. There seem to be only one person who has the knowledge to make the virus that is attacking. Her husband Chad. As I stated previously, I couldn't put this book down. I highly recommend this book to all mystery buffs. Beware though. It will make you leary of wanting to get on an airplane again.

I was given this book by Tyndale Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

DiAnn Mill has written another winner. Airborne is a real page turner and edge of your seat suspense. A timely novel as it is coming during COVID-19. If you enjoy suspense I highly recommend this book. I received an advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.

Timely story for today's Covid-19 pandemic! This story firmly plants the fact that God is in control even with deadly viruses strike. Heather, traveling to Salzburg never suspected she would be in the midst of an evil plot to harm others. Dr. Chad Lawrence, Heather's estranged husband is the prime suspect behind the plot. The author weaves the tale that gives few hints to the source of the twisted mind of destruction. Readers will be hooked from the beginning and will be surprised as answers become clear. Highly recommended!

Well, this was an interesting read in light of the current times as we fight COVID. The story line follows FBI Agent Heather Lawrence and her husband Chad as they try to figure out who has released a deadly airborne pathogen on a flight to Europe. Heather happens to be on that flight and Chad happens to study those same pathogens. They have a struggling marriage, so Chad quickly becomes a suspect. DiAnn provides good character development and an intricate plot. Recommended.

I follow Mills. I enjoy her writing style and the stories she tells. I was excited to see a new release from her and jumped at the chance to indulge in this title. I knew the storyline was going to mimic a lot of what our world has been living through but I was anxious to read it anyway. I was not prepared for how spot on the story would be to the way people have been reacting to COVID-19.
Overall this was not one of my favorites. Maybe because of the science behind everything (though I don’t think that’s it) but I found it to be very monotone.
Still thank you Tyndale House and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this title. All opinions are my own.

Houston FBI agent Heather Lawrence only wants to get away to grieve her struggling marriage, but hours after takeoff she awakens to mass panic as a deadly virus spreads over her transatlantic flight. The pilot is forced to land in New York to take those infected to a hospital and the rest of the passengers are quarantined to an island.

Heather assists with the FBI as they discover the virus was deliberately unleashed and the prime suspect is none other than her estranged husband, Dr. Chad Lawrence. As people are dying, Heather races to uncover the truth and struggles to trust anyone on their quarantined island.

Can she solve the mystery and save her marriage before it’s too late?

Just when I thought the previous book was DiAnn Mills’ best, this one knocks it out of the park. Riveting. Suspenseful. Edge-of-your-seat thriller. What more can I say? DiAnn is one of the best in the romantic suspense genre.

This story will keep the reader guessing until the end. It’s full of twists and turns. The characters are superb. Imagery amazing. Conflict riveting.

I give Airborne 5 stars. Once the reader boards this flight, they’re in for a ride!

FBI agent Heather Lawrence's life seems to be falling apart. Her husband wants a divorce to focus more on his career, the career that Heather helped him achieve! Now Heather is on a flight to Salzburg, hoping to renew her faith in God and gain perspective.

Dr. Chad Lawrence is rising in the scientific community. His work in other countries watching people die from horrific diseases with no cure has spurred him on to forsake all else, including his wife, in order to find a cure for the disease that one of his friends died of. Chad has no time for God, only science. He has no time for a wife, who is only holding him back. He has cut himself off from all feelings and has embraced his scientific world.

While flying to Salzburg passengers on Heather's flight begin to get sick and some even die! Someone has unleashed a deadly virus on the flight and now Chad is the main suspect. How can Heather ever trust him again when he has changed so much and he had the ability to create the deadly virus?

Apart from never wanting to fly in an airplane again I really enjoyed the excitement of this book! Of course being in the midst of a real-life pandemic made reading a book about the unleashing of a deadly virus a bit more scary than what is already happening around us. I liked how Heather was an independent woman, even though she was devastated by her husband's decision she was able to make plans for her future and move on. Chad was a bit difficult to stomach at first. But the further in the book that I got the more his reasoning came out and made more sense. An exciting read and one that I definitely recommend for those that like a good virus-related thriller.

Airborne by Diane Mills .I was stunned by the storyline that Diane created in the timing of our current airborne virus.

Heather is an FBI agent going on vacation and trying to figure out her life. She and her husband are estranged and she is dealing with some personal issues. Aboard the plane passengers start getting sick and they realize there is an epidemic.

Heather’s husband is an infectious disease doctor. Admittedly I was not sure if I was going to like him. He was one of many suspects I was considering for the virus.

The situations Diane created for the characters really made you think about what you would do in these situations.

I highly recommend this book. Even if we were not in the middle of our own virus.
Violence - the virus does horrible things to the body.

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

What I like about this book is that DiAnn Mills has left some doubt until almost the end of who the perp is. I like books that engage my brain in this way and make me put together the clues! It's a particularly topical book with the global pandemic happening - but was thought of three years ago....

I have to admit that I didn't particularly like the male lead character at the beginning of the book but by the end, he'd grown on me because more of his backstory had been explained and etc (Etc takes the place of spoilers!). There is are no sex scenes or bad language - it's a good clean read.

I got this book in exchange for a review which had to be honest. Would I buy it? I like DiAnn Mills as an author and this book was no exception.

Airborne takes readers on an action-packed adventure where biological weapons in the form of a deadly virus are unleashed on an unsuspecting airplane full of people. The virus acts fast, and Heather Lawrence, an FBI behavioral analyst, happens to be on the flight and immediately starts to work on assessing the situation.

The story is intense. People are dying, trapped on a plane circling the airport because if they land, they risk triggering a pandemic. Heather’s estranged husband is a suspect, since Chad works in a laboratory that has been researching viruses. The suspense continues as the FBI hunts for the responsible party behind the attack.

I know the author wrote this story before we actually had a pandemic, making the story very timely. Lots of issues surround finding a vaccine and isolating the passengers of the plane that are exposed to the virus. The plot is complex with lots of twists. The story also focuses on Chad and Heather and their dying marriage. Lots of faith elements come to light as Chad struggles with “God vs science” and Heather tries to pick up the pieces of their marriage.

Overall, I enjoyed the action, suspense, and drama, and highly recommend that suspense fans check out Airborne.

Overall Rating:
4 stars (I liked it a lot and would definitely recommend)

Suspense Rating:
5 stars (lots of action and suspense to keep me intrigued)
