I'm a sucker for wartime fiction, particularly sagas, but I'm sad to say I could not get into WEDDING BELLS ON THE HOME FRONT. I don't know whether it is because it's the third book in the series or the north eastern vernacular, but I found the characters to be slightly irritable.

I have read plenty of books set in Newcastle and the north east and am no stranger to their vernacular so I can only assume it is because I came in three books in and don't know Fran from Sarah from Viola from Beth and all the menfolk in their lives. They were simply strangers to me I felt like I had walked into tht middle of a conversation and had no idea what was going on. Having said that, I have joined other series midway and not bee remotely lost so I am guessing that this is just one series that doesn't do it for me. And there are some out there that just don't.

However, from what I can gather from this installment, the girls are getting married and the story begins with one of them - Sarah - having just married Fran's younger brother Stan while Fran herself is engaged to be married to Sarah's brother Davey, who works at Bletchley Park. The girls themselves work at at Ordnance factory making explosives for the boys at the front, though if asked they are under strict instructions to just say they are working at a factory making "thingummybobs" or whatever lie they can come up with. As the posters state "the walls have ears" and you never know who may be listening because "loose lips sinks ships" and the menfolk away fighting at the front depend on their discretion...and the munitions they build.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get into the trope that was being bandied about and as I said, felt I had stepped into the middle of a conversation with no idea what was going on. However, having said that, this is a highly rated series and a favourite for many so please don't take my word for it.

We can't all like the same thing or enjoy every book we read. But I thank the authors for the journey upon which they take us all the same.

I would like to thank #AnnieClarke, #Netgalley and #ArrowPublishing for an ARC of #WeddingBellsOnTheHomeFront in exchange for an honest review.

Nancy Revell fans will want to add Annie Clarke’s name to the very top of their must-buy list. In her terrific saga, Wedding Bells on the Home Front, she has written a heart-warming and compelling tale full of strong women, powerful emotion and nail-biting drama.

In 1942, the Second World War is still raging on, but despite the fact that he factory girls are all worried about their husbands, sweethearts, brothers and fathers doing their duty for king and country, they refuse to let the enemy rain on their parade and cause them even more misery, anguish and unhappiness. Wedding bells are ringing loud, clear and merrily for the girls and they will not let anyone – not even Hitler – get in the way of their future happiness.

Sarah is settling into her new life of domestic bliss with her new husband, Stan and looking forward to a long and happy future with the man she loves by her side. Meanwhile, Fran is not about to let the lack of available resources deter her from having the wedding of her dreams. With her upcoming nuptials fast approaching, Fran is busy planning the perfect ceremony – even if Davey is still conscripted to Bletchley Park. However, it isn’t all tulle and confetti for the Factory Girls.

Beth is fearing the worst as she hasn’t heard from her husband Bob since he went back to the navy. What has happened to Bob? Is he still alive? Or should Beth start preparing for the worst? Meanwhile new girl Viola is recovering from a very nasty accident that might have far reaching and devastating consequences.

Life for the Factory Girls is full of challenges, but with the love and support of one another, they can get through anything – even war…

Annie Clarke’s Wedding Bells on the Home Front is a delightful World War Two saga written with plenty of warmth and heart that will charm and captivate readers everywhere with its brilliant depiction of wartime life, beautifully recreated setting, brilliantly nuanced characters and addictive and emotional storylines.

A terrific saga guaranteed to make readers laugh and cry, find a comfortable chair, pour a large cup of tea, switch the phone off and get ready to indulge in Annie Clarke’s compulsively readable wartime saga, Wedding Bells on the Home Front.

Wedding Bells on the Home Front is written with a lot of soul. It has a big heart and is the exact pick-me-up you need in the middle of a crisis. We may not be at war, but we’re definitely in a situation where reading about communities coming together and beating the odds can lift us up. And this book (and the series) can do that for you.

This is a fantastic book with a great group of characters within the pages. I absolutely adore this group of girls, I feel as though I know them as well as I know my friendship group.

This book has had moments where I have laughed and cried but I still haven't been able to put this gem down. I have devoured this book in just one afternoon and I am delighted that there is another book coming. I already cannot wait to read the next book.

Returning to characters that we know and love, has been a welcome addition to this book and I absolutely love that we are able to follow the story of characters who are becoming loved.

This book has hooked me from the very beginning. This author has a writing style that is easy to follow and captivating. I absolutely adore these books and characters. A definite five star read.

I would like to thank Random House UK, Cornerstone for asking me to read and review this book and to be apart of the blog tour.
Wedding Bells on the Home Front is the third instalment of this wonderful saga. I love a good historical saga and through this blog I have been lucky to read so many and this is another brilliant one.
Set during WW2, in this instalment Sarah is getting married to Stan and Fran is planning her wedding too, which is some welcome happiness from their war work at Bletchley Park and waiting to hear from loved ones. The main theme running through this series is that life on the home front maybe challenging but by coming together they can overcome anything.
A well written story where all the historical facts show that the author has put in her research. The characters are well loved and it is so nice to return to them and find out where they are and what happens next.
A great read showing that even through the toughest of times hope and love can win.

Having read and loved the first two books in this series I was excited to read this one. Yet again I was not disappointed. This third book was just as good as the previous two. A fabulous read with great characters.

This book is great for picturing what life was like on the home front during the war. Is shows the challenges that the men and women had to deal with. But they always had each other’s back. The author really gets you in on the story and if you like Nancy Revells Shipyard girls you will love this series.

Another fantastic book in the series. I love this author's work and eagerly await more! Living in the North not too far from pit villages (and Beamish!) it is easy to relate too. The characters are all strong and the style of writing makes it hard to put down at bedtime as you are thinking ahead to what happens next! Pleased some of the characters found happiness after previous sadness. Roll on October and the next in the series!

It's March 1942, and it's Stan and Sarah's wedding day taking place in St Oswald church. Such a beautiful wedding for Mr and Mrs Hall. Fran Hall his sister is also looking forward to her wedding next month to her beloved Davey Bredley both war working at the munitions factory and Bletchley Park it just cannot come quick enough. Oh what a joy to read about all these characters again after reading the other's I felt right at home. Lots of funny witty moments as everyone just gets on with their lives during wartime. An inspirational story that the author leaves her reader's hungry for more. I so enjoyed reading every single chapter. Absolutely fantastic.
