Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Wow! The amount or research required to create this novel is amazing as is the result..Tying together the historical with a modern adventure is done in a way that keeps the reader enthralled.

Crowns of Gold follows two sets of characters. In the first half of the book we follow Arthur and Lance. They are of Scythian decent, and have cool Scythian names. They are trying to make a huge empire from heroine, and as a result make the Scythian empire great again. The second half focuses on the government who is trying to stop the heroine trade, and to see where it comes from. What I really liked is that the myths of the Scythian empire are woven into the story. I have never heard from this empire, so I learned a lot. I can also appreciate that all the facts are real and researched. I also did not know that the Arthurian ledgends stem from the Scythian legends. I also liked how the first chapter really set the scene in history and how the Romans concurred the Scythians and how they are trying to regain their former territory. I also liked that we also gotten the perspective of the government who is trying to stop the heroine trade. It was fun to see how they operated.
However, I disliked that there are so many time jumps. It kind of bothered me that every chapter has a time jump, which can range from a couple of hours to months. I got confused sometimes as I did not know where I was in the timeline. I would also liked to hear more of Lance and Arthur, and how they reacted to the fact that people were on to them and trying to undermine them.
