Adorable! First, look at that pup on the cover and tell me how you can't fall in love! I sure did! I know, I know, I am a puppy lover but it went beyond that. This cozy mystery was just perfect to me.

Emory and her sister run a catering business but sadly she discovers something about her husband that is bad news and it involves her BFF. A murder takes place and poor Emory is the main suspect. One would think it wasn't her but don't think so too quickly because she did have motive!

I think this first book in the Cupcake Catering Mystery series served as a fantastic first installment to interest the readers. I know I plan to continue the series. If you're into recipes or you're a "recipe cook" like I am, there are some good ones in here to give a try.

a well-written and enjoyable mystery. It is a perfect choice for fans of cozy mysteries and cupcake lovers. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a touch of humor.

The supporting characters are well-developed and add to the charm of the story. Emory's husband, Nick, is a supportive and loving partner. Her friends, including her assistant, Chloe, and her neighbor, Detective Ryan, are also helpful and supportive.

The mystery itself is engaging and suspenseful. There are plenty of suspects to choose from, and the clues are well-hidden. The reader will be kept guessing until the very end.

Sprinkles of Suspicion is the first book in the Cupcake Catering mystery series. The main character was likeable and I loved the descriptions of the cupcakes that were made by Emory. It's always fun to start a new series and get to know the characters. The mystery was well-planned and it was difficult to guess whodunnit. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I really enjoyed this book. The main character Emory thinks she has her life mostly figured out. Until she discovers her best friend, Tori, is having an affair with her husband. After a very public confrontation, she finds Tori murdered and becomes the prime suspect. When it seems the police are set on convicting her, Emory decides she must prove her innocence all while trying to build a portfolio for her dream of owning a cupcake bakery. Murphy’s law certainly defines Emory.

What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.

Sprinkles of Suspicion was delightful. Here the author shows us Emory as she stumbles upon her husband and best friend,

One glass of cheap California chardonnay cost Emory Gosser Martinez her husband, her job, and her best friend. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of her troubles. Accusations and murder are keeping Emory busy. She better figure out who the real killer is before it's too late.

I quite enjoyed all of the characters and the storyline, and the best part is a book that includes recipes. If you enjoy a great cozy mystery then Sprinkles of Suspicion is the book for you.

A big thank you to Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book to read and review ☺️.

This was a really fun and interesting read. This book has me on my toes the whole way through. Right up until about 3/4’s of the way through I had no answers and a heck load of questions. But I loved it and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series coming out.

I love books that revolve around baking/ a cupcake business because hopefully I want to have my own bakery someday and I just love reading about it.

Tori definitely deserved what she got and I’m kind of happy she was gone within the first few chapters. I know that’s a little harsh, but it’s true🙈.

Definitely recommend and I will be continuing with the series when the next books are released ☺️

I am not one to literally judge a book by its cover however I am a doodle lover and knew I needed to read Sprinkles of Suspicion because of the adorable doodle on the cover! This book did not disappoint. I loved the quick mystery and cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

In a nutshell, Emory decides to take an evening to herself that will change the rest of her life. She realizes that her husband is having an affair with her best friend and is upset, just as any woman should be. She ends up making a scene in public due to her distraught emotions. Then a few hours later, she finds her best friend dead. Was she the killer? The police will do everything to find out who killed Emory's friend, Toni.

Read this if you enjoy quick thriller reads. I found myself wanting to know more and more about Emory!

Emory catches her husband cheating with her bestie Tori, and is shocked. Things escalate when Tori is found dead and Emory is suspect #1. Quick, easy read. Full of intrigue and wonder of who really killed Tori and why. Recipes at the back are delicious (actually tried a couple!!)

This was an enjoyable cozy mystery that grabbed me right at the beginning and didn’t let go. There were good characters and bad characters and then there were cupcakes! The mystery was good and well written.
Many thanks to Cinnamon and Sugar Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a fast-paced new cozy mystery. The characters are realistic and relatable. The mystery is full of so many twists and turns I never guess who the killer was. I look forward to seeing how the characters and their relationships develop.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

Emory Martinez wakes up hungover and disoriented on her bathroom floor. How could a glass of Chardonnay cause her to pass out? Emory is stunned to learn her cop husband Philip has been having an affair with her best friend Tori. Emory and Tori end up in a catfight in front of Tori's house. Even worse, someone has also posted a photo on Emory's Facebook page that has gone viral showing her in the clutches of a strange man. Emory suspects Tori of this humiliating act and goes to confront her and ends up finding Tori stabbed dead. Now the prime suspect in Tori's murder, Emory is shocked to learn Philip has put a second mortgage on their condo and that they are almost bankrupt Emory slowly realizes how naive she has been about Philip's recent actions and is determined to find the real killer.

This cozy mystery has a great Southern California setting and Emory's passion to create custom cupcakes and baked goods for her twin sister Carrie's catering business is a good one. There are also plenty of yummy recipes listed at the end of the book.

But Emory is such a naive character and her spacing out so often is rather annoying. Her domineering mother is another less attractive character. The only endearing person in the story is rich Tillie who takes in Emory and gives us both a new place to live and a gourmet kitchen where she can create her custom cupcakes and start her dream business.

This was an ok debut cozy mystery with the potential for more tasty adventures. Here is hoping that Emory will overcome her shaky start and will become more confident as the series continues.

I received an eARC from Netgalley with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.

When you're best friend betrays you with your husband, your reputation is shot and the you're the main suspect for the for your best friend's murder - it's not a good week.

Emory Martinez, cupcake caterer, finds herself in the this situation and is a prime suspect in the murder of her friend Tori. Losing everything but her determination to clear her name, Emory is on the case to prove her innocence! Emory is a sympathetic and kind character. The mystery was well-written and fast-paced. The supporting characters were fun and I hope. to see them in the next book and find out what Emory is up to!

I received an ARC from Netgalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Emory starts the story on a down note--she didn't do so hot in finding a new best friend in Tori, who went on to sleep with her husband and somehow use the internet against her as well. And that's just the first chapter of this fast paced, quirky mystery. I liked Em's family too, even though you can tell her mother disapproves of a lot! And her twin, along with their burgeoning catering business, is a great vehicle for many delicious party and dessert ideas. Of all the characters, I liked the introduction of Tillie near the end. I think they will have a mutually beneficial friendship and hope to see more of her and her industrial kitchen in the next book!

Brought to you by OBS reviewer Andra

n this introductory book in the new Cupcake Catering Mystery series, Sprinkles of Suspicion, author Kim Davis brings to life Emory Gosser Martinez. Emory is quite a character and her foibles are numerous, but endearing (at least I found that to be). And with respect to her being a baker – yummy is all I can say.

Emory is having a hard day (an understatement) when she discovers her bestie and her hubby are having an affair. Emory confronts Tori (aforementioned bestie) and Philip (the hubby) and the ensuing cat fight added some chuckle worthy moments. However, a short time later Tori is found dead – being found by Emory (this can’t end well for Emory!). All the evidence that Detective Harper Jackson has gathered points to Emory as the murderer and he has no desire to actually investigate further, so of course Emory must follow leads in order to clear herself and find the actual killer. Being accused of murder isn’t Emory’s only problem… losing a job and a mother who is SO worried about how all this will look to her friends sets the stage for a very stressed Emory.

Piper, the labradoodle and Carrie, the twin sister -> I hope we get to see more of these two in future books, though I am sure Piper will be, but hoping for more of Carrie. Carrie was a bit self involved (all about her), even when Emory needed her. I am hoping in the future she can be more of the sister that Emory deserves.

The number of potential suspects assisted in the mystery of who the killer was. This mystery unraveled in a very convoluted manner and as such, I was unable to determine the actual killer until the end – which is frankly – the way I love my cozy mysteries! The end was fun, meeting new characters like Tillie (aka Mrs. Skyler) added to the storyline and any future mysteries.

The cover art – now who would not like it? If you are a fan of cupcakes, then you will love the cover! Sure made me want to bake cupcakes (but more importantly, eat one). I have written down the recipe for the Gimlet Cupcakes and cannot wait to try making a batch!

I quite enjoyed the story Kim Davis weaved in Sprinkles of Suspicion. As such, I will eagerly await to see when a second book in the Cupcake Catering Mystery series makes its way to us readers.

Wow!! This book started off with a bang and I loved Emory for fighting back against her ex-best friend, Tori. She never imagined that Tori would end up dead and Emory would be blamed for the crime and now, she must fight to protect her freedom. I loved the culinary aspect of the mystery and I’m a sucker for beautifully decorated cupcakes. This is a well-written, fun mystery and the reader is bound to have a good time with this one!! Highly recommend.

The first book in the new series called Cupcake Catering, Sprinkles of Suspicion is a fun, cozy mystery that will keep you guessing and laughing.
Emory is the main character who gets framed for murder when her best friend turns up dead. Lots of humorous moments and lots of cupcake yumminess as Emory bakes up a storm.
This looks to be a fun series that I hope to read more of.
