Loved everything about this book. The characters are amazing, both the good and bad ones. Lucy’s story was very touching and Kians struggles and his families are probably true of most run down estates. Looking forward to reading more in the series

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of this book.

Lucy Murphy joins her team as a rookie detective and soon starts investigating crimes on the troubled Griffin housing estate. Unaware that her boss is fully aware of the traumatic childhood event that still haunts Lucy from when she lived on this very estate, she soon gets caught up in the everyday life on the estate including a murder investigation. At the same time she is also struggling to cope with the worsening of her grandmother’s dementia.
The book focuses on the modern day problems of children with alcoholic parents and the gang culture that exists in many parts of Britain today.
No Escape is another excellent book from Casey Kelleher and had me engrossed from beginning to end.

Lucy Murphy has just been promoted to Detective but what she doesn't realise that her first case will be on the notorious Griffin Estate a place that has dark memories for Lucy.

Shannon and Kian live on the estate with their alcoholic mother and hanger on boyfriend.
Shannon tries her best to keep Kian from falling in with the wrong crowd but that may be harder than she thinks.
When Kian become debted to local gang leader Jax he finds himself caught up in something that there is No Escape.
This is another excellent gritty story from Casey Kelleher and I'm hoping there is more to come from Lucy Murphy.

There is 'No Escape' from this book, it grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go until the last.

This is another winner from Casey Kelleher. Bang up to date, it is a compelling, well written tale with great characterization, some you will love and some you will hate.

Highly recommend this and all Casey's other books.

Well well!
Casey Kelleher does it again. What another fantabulous read.
It's safe to say I have never been disappointed with any book by this author, this is an author that I don't even need to read what the book is about, if CK has written it, I want to read it. CK is an expert at drawing you into the story, making you feel like you could almost be a part of these lives. You are certainly kept on your toes when reading these books.
Lucy Murphy witnessed tragedy in her childhood. Its something you would never wish anyone to see, never mind a young child.
Lucy is a police officer with a heart and back working on the estate in which she grew up. The Griffin estate is one of those estates you love to hear or read about but would not like to actually live on.
Now working in CID, Lucy has no choice but to be there as this is where her case needs investigating.
Some fantastic characters in this book I really liked getting to know Lucy and her Nan, whom she looks after was wonderful character with a heart-breaking story, I really felt involved with this part of the book more than the rest, I really got myself involved in wanting to actually help her. This delicate subject in the book has been done beautifully.
Amazing journey following the character in this book, there are some horrible, (but you can't help liking) kind of characters, and characters that you just love and are rooting for.
I enjoyed the story of brother and sister Shannon and Kian. Shannon is young with her head on her shoulders and her brother is getting mixed up in to thigs he shouldn't be. following their day to day lives was realistic and topical. Typical estate behaviour.
I can't recommend this book highly enough and no words I have will ever do it justice. The best thing to do is treat yourself, put your feet up and have a good read. I'd love to hear what others thought of it.

fantastic read.

No Escape is a book which is all too believable and very topical, based around a troubled estate in central London, in which gang culture dominates and communities are forced into silence through fear of repercussions. Lucy Murphy may be new to her role as a police Detective, but she is no stranger to the Griffin Estate or to the dark history that has taken place behind many a door. From Lucy's devastating and hard hitting story, through to the 'challenges' faced the estate's current residents, Casey Kelleher has created a story that is full of tension, that kept me glued to the page from start to finish.

This is a very character driven story, with the action centering around two teenagers, Shannon and Kian, an autistic man, Philip, and leader of the Griffin Boys, Jax. Each of their stories are grim and twisted, each unique and, in the case of Shannon, Kian and Philip, influenced by events out of their control. Shannon and Kian have an alcoholic mother and are neglected as a result. Shannon tries to do her best by Kian but she is only a child herself. the fact that Kian then turns to the Griffin Boys as a kind of protection and the chance to prove himself as a real man is a story that is all too realistic, and all too common when it comes to the disenfranchised and forgotten youth that inhabit many of these deprived estates. The way in which Jax manipulates Kian, sucks him in and traps him in a lifestyle from which there is no easy escape, is written perfectly and whilst we can see where. this story is leading, can almost predict Jax's behaviour, it is easy to see how Kian is blindsided, the promise and lure of an easy and more affluent, although illegal life, hard to ignore.

When it comes to Philip, his is an altogether different story. Whilst Kian is ultimately a victim of his own making, Jax preying on his need to belong to something akin to a family, Philip is victim of circumstance. A vulnerable adult who Jax is quick to take advantage of. I felt a real sympathy for Philip, could see how he was let down by the people who were meant to support and protect him, although even I didn't see the one element of his story coming. He suffers no end of abuse at the hands of the Griffin Boys, and it is hard to read without feeling outraged on his behalf. It leads readers to an almost inevitable conclusion, one that will shock but ultimately satisfy.

Lucy is an intriguing character. There is no doubt she is shaped by her past and with a very challenging family life, trying to maintain a home for her Grandmother who is slowly falling victim to dementia, the pressure is on. I really liked the way in which the author portrayed her fear, her tension as she found herself time and again on the estate, trying to stave off memories of her past whilst focusing on helping the residents and trying to get to the bottom of a serious assault that happens before we join the story. She is a determined and spirited young woman, very much empathetic towards those around her, but she is very likeable. She has a good sense of humour which stands her in good stead given that she is faced with a certain amount of inappropriate banter from colleagues. But it is her very down to earth nature that makes her a joy to read about, her desire to understand the residents of the estate rather than just dismiss them as trouble, that draws the reader on side.

The book has a real urban edge to it, the whole notion of the 'county lines' culture - using teenagers and children to run drugs in order to avert suspicion - something which is more and more prevalent in society and makes it feel very relevant. It is edgy and full of tension, the pacing waxing and waning as the story dictates, but all leading to a catastrophic and violent conclusion - at least for one of the residents. Yet despite the desperate situation for so many, the darker aspects of the story that can dominate, there is still a sense of hope and some emotional scenes that will warm your heart. All in all, another cracking read from an author whose work I really enjoy.

This was another thrilling read by a very talented author. I've read all of Casey's books and have never been disappointed!.
As a young girl, Lucy witnessed her mother’s and this has made her to become a police officer. Now she has to investigate gang violence on the same estate she grew up on. This makes for some gritty reading, and really well done. Can't wait for the next one in this author's repertoire.
Highly recommended.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

This is my first read by this author and it certainly won’t be my last. I initially thought the book was a bit of a slow starter but it soon picked up it’s pace the more I read. It had mostly likeable characters with good background histories and I really liked DC Murphy. I thought this was a thrilling read, and was very hard to put down. The book was written really well, it engaged me from beginning to end and was true to everyday life on an estate rife with crime and gang culture. Hard to read in parts where a vulnerable character is taken advantage of and pushed well beyond his limits. I will definitely be looking to read more books by this author. Loved, loved, loved this book.

A gripping read.
This book was tense and quite traumatic in some parts.
It wasn’t a quick read to start but then really picked up and fast paced towards the end.

This is my first time reading anything by Casey Kelleher and I thought towards the middle that I would have to stop reading it, not because it's not good but what was happening to Philip was distressing for personal reasons but I'm glad I kept going. It's a great read and especially the ending where Justice was rightly served. I have other books on my TBR by the author and plan to bump them up. I got this as an arc and would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own views and are completely unbiased.

I have read other books by this author and really enjoyed them. This book is an easy read, a bit lacking in depth and too short to do it justice. I liked the character of Lucy, the young detective but overall, not a memorable book. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Wow! This is a book filled with characters you will love and characters that you will love to hate! This book is completely and utterly addictive and I have been completely engaged and engrossed in this book.
There are so many surprises and shocking moments in this, I have been a little speechless throughout reading this one and wanted to scream at some occasions. Lucy is a fantastic main character she has a kind heart and trauma from her past.
It is easy to like her and she is extremely real. The storyline of this one is superb and definitely kept me guessing from beginning to end. This is a fantastic and talented author. I am excited to read more.
This is without a doubt a five star read. It's been impossible to put down and completely enthralling.

I have read most of this authors books and enjoyed them but found this one a little bit lacking 😕 It was what i class as an ‘easy read’ , enjoyable but not gripping and not a book I will remember shame as I normally love this author

To read a book by this author is always a treat and I was over the moon to receive an ARC.

The story follows Lucy Murphy a police officer with a kind heart who has overcome her own childhood trauma of witnessing her mother being murdered whilst living on the notorious Griffin Estate. Her placement on CID leads her back to the estate and the far reaching arm of county lines.

I absolutely loved this story some parts made me cry given I am a mother of a disabled and vulnerable young adult however, there are many heart warming moments. I would highly recommend this book and anything else by this author.

Many thanks to the publishers and netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have read a lot of Casey's books and have enjoyed them all and this was no exception. A great read from start to finish, brilliant for the current climate and quarantining. I was gripped from the first page hence i read the book in a day. Bring on the next one!!

Another brilliant book by Casey kelleher, I read within a few days , perfect read for quarantine. I don't think I have read any of Casey's books that I haven't enjoyed. 5 starts and look forward to the next one.

I can't find the words to express how much I enjoyed this book!

There were quite a few characters I would have loved to strangle, but also some I would have loved to take into my arms and cuddle them.

I hope I will never cross paths with someone like Jax and I know about how it is to see a loved one change because of dementia.

The author wrote a brilliant story that both repulsed me and touched my heart. It's unbelieveable how people can be that way and make others suffer like that.

I was more than once wrongfooted and each time it left me flabbergasted. I just love that!

This is an author whose books are so amazingly good that I don't mind losing some (or a lot of) sleep over them.

Was this a standalone or are we in for a sequel? I hope for the latter, but anyhow the 5 stars are well deserved!

Thank you, Casey Kelleher and Bookouture
