Sydney has never recovered from her sweetheart, Nate, walking out on her when college finished, and their planned life lay ahead of her. He moved to LA to become a successful songwriter and never seemed to have missed her. She lost the will to pursue her passion of writing and settled done to a mundane life. She tried to move on, but her marriage failed leaving her with her beautiful son Robbie who made it all worthwhile. Sydney has now moved back to her childhood home of Starlight Cottage to help her Uncle move past the grief of losing his wife and her Aunt. The cottage stores all the memories they have of Aunt Clara, but everything is threatened by a proposed development. Sydney is stunned when she meets Nate at her sister’s wedding and realises that he plans to return to Firefly Beach with his girlfriend. She can’t imagine being able to live in the same town as him and hopes he will just go back to his celebrity life. I enjoyed this story but felt it took a bit too long to get to the climax. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Jenny Hale's The House on Firefly Beach reminds me of so many "beach" reads I have picked up in past summer months. This is a story of long lost love and second chances. Sydney fell in love with Nate back when they were young and was devastated when he left her unexpectedly the day she thought he would propose. When he shows up several years later, Sydney is divorced with a young son and isn't ready to let him into their lives. This was a sweet love story and the just the escape I needed.

I didn't realize that this is book two in a series, but it is just as good as a stand-alone!

Another fabulous romance brought to you by the lovely Jenny Hale! The characters warmed my heart with their story throughout, and though it isn't a long novel, it tells a full and beautiful story!

What does one do when your longtime steady boyfriend--the one who gave you a plastic "engagement" ring--suddenly tells you that he's leaving and that the relationship is over? The young man who isn't just your boyfriend, but has been your best friend for as long as you can remember?

That's the shock Sydney Flynn suffers when Nate Henderson suddenly packs up his truck and tells her he's leaving their small coastal town for Nashville, to pursue a songwriting career. Sydney is shocked, because just the night before they sat on the beach and talked about their future.

Somehow, she manages to go on living despite Nate. She even gets married and has a son, but the relationship doesn't last. Because no relationship was quite like the one she had with Nate.

Years later, Nate's back in their small town, hinting that he wants to get back together with Sydney. But her heart is too broken, and she's fearful that she will fall in love again, only to have him leave again. And this time there's even more at stake, because she has a five year old boy who is spending more and more time with Nate, since Nate is his football coach and also teaching him how to fish.

Then there's Juliana, the beautiful Latina model who came to Firefly Beach with Nate. The tabloids say that the two are a couple, so Sydney is confused by Nate's loving words and actions toward her. The spark is still there too, when they are in the room together. But that shouldn't happen, if he and Juliiana are a couple?

This is a gentle summer read. Beautiful location, picturesque settings, a dilemma between the hero and heroine. At times it moves a bit slow, but isn't that what a lazy beach time read is supposed to do? So keep reading, because things get very interesting between Nate and Sydney. Especially when Sydney learns that Nate is behind a scheme to buy out all the quaint beachside cottages and replace them with a public access beach and resort development. It just so happens that one of those cottages belongs to her family...

The House on Firefly Beach by Jenny Hale

On Firefly Beach lies a cottage of dreams, Starlight Cottage. It is here, where Sydney Flynn has spent her summers and now lives with her son and other family members. The cottage holds many memories and love of her Aunt Clara. This is the second book in the Firefly Beach series. I read the first book last summer and found it a good read, so I knew I would like this book as well.

Sydney and her son are starting over again, she is looking for ways to move forward after her sister’s wedding. Meanwhile, Nate Henderson, the man she loved for four years returned to the beach and has been determined to speak with her. Sydney is determined not to let him break her heart again. She finds him everywhere and each time he is constantly pushing at her. There are other forces at play here also, someone is trying to buy up all the land to increase the tourist draw. Her friends are trying to help her, but Sydney doesn’t necessarily understand how the pieces fall together and Nate seems to struggle to share the information he needs to.

I enjoy Jenny Hale’s books. There are some great summer reads, with the beach, sun and sand. I find that sometimes the main characters get too ‘angsty’ in their heads with their over thinking, but I so want to find out what happens that I keep reading. The House on Firefly Beach by Jenny Hale was a good read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The House on Firefly Beach by Jenny Hale is the 2nd book in the Firefly Beach series, and my first book by this author. Once I started this book I could not stop. It was a quick read that kept me rooting for the two main characters, Sydney and Nate, first loves finding each other again. I look forward to the next book in the series, and going back to read the first, Summer at Firefly Beach. I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a sweet romance, you will not be disappointed.

I was already a big fan of Jenny Hale having read the previous Firefly Beach book. I absolutely loved the first book and didn’t think I would love this one as much but I did! It was an easy read that keeps you hooked. I didn’t want to put it down.

A new author for me so I was excited to start this beach book. It was predictable but fun. I figured things out early on and was disappointed that Sydney never gave Nate a chance to explain his actions on returning. I understand she was hurt when he walked away after a 4 year relationship without looking back, but based on their past relationship she should not have assumed the worst.

The characters and descriptions of the town were spot on and I could place myself in this lovely seaside tiwn. That's a rare gift for an author to share, and what saved my rating.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.

Wow. Poetry in prose. Words written by author Jenny Hale surpassed everything that I had loved in her books to reach the wondrous heights that only love for writing would bring. This was my most favorite book. A gorgeous cover too, so apt.

The minute you stop thinking so hard is the minute the answer will come to you.

A direct quote from the book. My heart was so overwhelmed with the emotions and genuineness in the story that I could barely get some words out. I just felt too much, my heart was close to bursting. The characters Sydney and Nate, the situations, lovers moving apart, second chance at love, family, friendship all displayed the power of the author's writing.

A story about second chance love, two lovers meeting again at Firefly Beach and with many twists and turns and misunderstandings, they find love at the House on the Firefly Beach.

You have to live like there's no heartbreak. If you tiptoe around, trying to keep yourself safe, you'll miss all the moments that will make you who you are...

Powerful words as these were never spoken which etched their meaning into my very heart beat. Warmth coursed my veins as I continued reading, so convinced that the author dipped her quill not in the ink-well but in the passion of her feelings. The book spoke to me.

The story was a HEA, it might seem familiar, but the writing, oh the writing... It was très magnifique.

Bubbles of pleasure burst through me while I read the book, feeling so happy. My second book over the lazy weekend. Joyous times.

Sun, sand, and second chances. Jenny Hale’s magical storytelling made my heart sing. This was such a lovely, sappy, sweet, romantic, story. Sydney and Nate were college sweethearts and the plan was to spend their lives together in Firefly Beach. That is until Nate packed up his truck and left Sydney behind. It is over a decade before Sydney and Nate see one another again at Sydney’s sisters wedding. Nate is no longer the boy that Sydney fell in love with he is a big-time song writer with a supermodel girlfriend. Sydney is resistant to Nate’s attempts to talk to her. She is guarding her heart and now she has someone even more important to protect, her son from a previous marriage. Will Sydney and Nate find their way back to one another? Will true love prevail?

This is the second book in the Firefly Beach series, I have not read the previous book and I don’t think I was missing out on anything. However I do want to go and read Haley’s (Sydney’s sister) story in the first book. I really loved Sydney‘s character she was strong and open yet understandably guarded. I felt for her because she was so conflicted between her heart and her head. Nate, I didn’t absolutely love from the first, but by the end I could see he was a good guy and worthy of Sydney. All the secondary characters were wonderful I loved Cindy‘s family and her adorable son. The setting was absolutely stunning I’d love to go visit Firefly Beach. This was a touching Second Chance Romance with great characters and a gorgeous setting.

I think this is a lovely summer read. I loved the descriptions of where the story is set. It was a predictable feel good story. I did not feel connected with any of the characters which was a pity as I might have enjoyed the story more if I had.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

Sydney Flynn’s sister Hallie is getting married and one of the guests is Nate Henderson or Nate Carr as he is known as now. Nate and Sydney grew up together in Firefly Beach and fell in love. They planned a life together after graduation but then Nate left her without a word. He is now a successful songwriter based in Nashville who works with Hallie’s husband to be Ben. His return for the wedding brings back all sorts of unwanted feelings Sydney neither wants or needs. Divorced with an eight year old son, she has returned to Firefly Beach following the death of her beloved Aunt Clara and plans to stay there. Learning Nate has bought land hopes to build a home there is a complication she doesn’t need.
This is a wonderful summer read. A story of family and friends, second chances complicated by misunderstandings. The characters are beautifully written and the atmosphere of Firefly Beach draws you in right from the start. Highly recommended

Thank you to Bookouture for letting me take part in this tour and for my copy of this book via Netgalley. I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I was very excited to return to Firefly Beach. Even though this is the second book you could read both as standalone.

The story begins with Hallie and Ben's wedding but our main character this time is Sydney Flynn, Hallie's sister. Sydney was in the first book and I remember thinking I hope she has a story one day. And, now we have it! Sydney had her heartbroken years ago and she's never recovered. While she married someone else she never got over her first love Nate. At times I found Sydney to be slightly irritating and irrational but she has a good heart. She just wants to protect her son and her heart.

Nate Henderson is a man full of regrets. That day he left Sydney is the biggest one. He thought he was helping her but he didn't realise he did the opposite. Nate never stopped loving Sydney. Nate is an easy man to fall in love with. He is charming, charismatic and gorgeous. A dangerous combination but an oh so welcome one! I admit it! I fell for him.

I adore the location of this book. The little village with its cute coffee shop and juice bar. I SO want to go visit. It just sounds so romantic. This book is a perfect escape from the world right now. Whether you are in rain or shine Firefly Beach will be waiting to greet you with open arms.

I volunteered to read this book through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a well written book and the characters are described well. I really enjoyed her writing style. It was so cute and heartwarming. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I can't wait to read more by this author in the near future.

I have very happy memories of reading the first book set in Firefly Beach – Summer at Firefly Beach – and jumped at the opportunity to read this sequel. This story also concerns the Flynn family, with single Mum Sydney as the main female character. Sydney returned to her childhood family home, Starlight Cottage, but she never anticipated the return of her teenage love, Nate Henderson. He left her heartbroken when he unexpectedly left to pursue his dreams of being a songwriter, something he’s been highly successful in achieving. Is this a second chance for these two? Can Sydney forgive him and learn to trust him again? As if that isn’t enough of a quandary, just how can she help protect the area around Starlight Cottage from developers who seem intent on making it a huge carpark and public access to the beach?

This is a heartwarming family drama with hidden motivations, secrets needing sharing, a beautiful community and superb setting. As usual with stories by this talented author, the characters are believable, their backgrounds complex and the whole story is packed with incidents and laugh out loud moments. It is a delightful read and brilliant to escape into. I would love to join this fantastic community and really hope she’ll be taking us there again in future. It is another emotive, enthralling romantic read, just what I eagerly anticipate when I know the book is written by Jenny Hale. Whilst it is the second book it is also easy to read as a standalone, a heartwarming family story that I loved reading and, just like the first book, I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending and if I could give it more than 5* I would!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

I adored this book by Jenny Hale! The House on Firefly Beach is the perfect summer romance. I loved Sydney and Nate and was rooting for them from the beginning. I definitely recommend this one!

This book is interconnected to Summer on Firefly Beach and I always love to continue the story of previous characters!

Sydney and Nate were madly in love during college, both writers with big plans for their future together. One day Nate drives away leaving Sydney broken hearted. Years later, when they see each other at Sydney’s sister’s wedding.... Nate has a lot to say to Sydney but will she trust him enough to listen?

My gal Jenny Hale does it again with the perfect light summery read. I loved jumping back into this family and Firefly Beach for this book! She does such a great job really transporting you to this location- I’m ready to pack my bags for vacation! I identified with Sydney as a single mom and wanted her to find her happiness. This is a sweet, clean romance with a guaranteed HEA. The perfect escape if that’s what you need.

As I turn the last page of my Kindle, I just sit and smile. I don’t want to lose the moment. What moment, you may ask? Well, you know that moment of happiness you get when you just finished eating your favorite meal, or meeting that best friend for coffee? That moment where everything in this world seems perfect? That is how I felt after reading The House on Firefly Beach.

This is the sequel to Summer at Firefly Beach, but can be read as a stand alone. However, I highly suggest reading Summer first because it will set a backstory to House and is also just as feel-good. Why not double the pleasure, so to speak?

I knew going in I was going to love this book. And that’s because I’ve loved every single one of Jenny Hale’s books….yes, every. single. one. There’s something to be said about her writing as two of her Christmas books have been made into Hallmark movies. After reading The House on Firefly Beach, I wish Hallmark would come out with a summer series of movies. This one would be perfect!!

In The House on Firefly Beach the story is about Sydney, the sister to Hallie who was the center of Summer at Firefly Beach. Sydney and her son, Robby, live on Firefly Beach with her mom, sister, and Uncle Hank. She recently left her corporate job as a paralegal to help take care of the home where her Uncle Hank lives after her Aunt Clara passes. She’s in the stage in her life where she doesn’t know how she got to where she is now, and definitely doesn’t know where she’s going. Her career is just starting up again, as a writer, but has no love love to speak of. Until Nate returns……..

I’m not giving away any more of the plot. You just have to trust that this book is worth reading, especially during these trying times in the world. It is absolutely the perfect book to read and get lost in.

First, I want to thank Jenny Hale, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me this book so I may bring you this review.

Jenny Hale’s The House on Firefly Beach is a must read for the summer!! I absolutely loved it! This is a very sweet read that will put a smile on your face and love in your heart.

The cover is just breathtaking and immediately drew me to the book. Not to mention I was already a fan of Jenny’s. The graphic artists did a great job capturing the essence of the story in the graphics. It made me want to jump into the picture.

There were so many aspects I loved about this book. For example little Robby pulled on my heart strings big time. He was too adorable and so excitable over little things. I loved how important family was to eachother in this book.

There were also some life lessons in this book that everyone could learn from.

If you know me you know I love everything celebrity and country music. So that aspect of the story really interested me. Jenny gave you an inside look of what being famous could be like. You get to see the good and the bad aspects of it.

Like her Christmas Books I can see this too on Hallmark as a book to movie!

This was my first time reading something by Jenny Hale and I really enjoyed her work. The House on Firefly Beach is a fun, light-hearted read perfect for a summer day with nothing else to do but get lost in a story. I loved the dynamic between Sydney and Nate and could feel the tension and longing come through the pages. Some of the timelines were too convenient for my liking - these characters seemed to accomplish a lot in one day! And some of the phrasing and conversations made me feel like I was walking in on the middle of a story - almost like this was a sequel to another story and I was missing key details.
