I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
From the very first page this charming story grabbed me. I loved the setting of it. I loved the variety of characters and particularly the strong family bonds.
Sweet and easy to read, makes this a good summer read. Nothing too heavy or demanding.

I really wanted to like this book but it was like so many others I've read. Childhood romance, they run into each other later in life and both are carrying a lot of baggage with them. Sydney spends her time worrying if he's the right on for her. Then, throw in another cottage that is about to be lost, and you have your book. How many books are out there with cottages needing to be taken care of, trips home to care for a family member by helping with their cottage, etc.? Need a change in pace.

"The House on Firefly Beach" is a follow-on story to "Summer at Firefly Beach" which is Hallie Flynn's story of coming back home to the house she grew up on, and finding herself. This book, which is a standalone story, begins when Hallie's sister Sydney encounters her first love Nate at Hallie's wedding. The two of them have unfinished business and Sydney is still perplexed as to why Nate abruptly ended their relationship and never looked back. Or so she thought. Nate is trying to reconnect with Sydney, and building a relationship with Sydney's son Robby in the process.

I liked the family dynamics in this book - it was realistic, yet you can tell how much the characters care about one another, and the memories they have made at Starlight Cottage. And, what is better than having "the one that got away" come back home full of regret, despite having a highly successful career?

Definitely 5 stars from me!

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchande for an honest review.

Jenny Hale brought a perfect summer read. I felt her writing to compare to a Karen White/Patti Callahan Henry style.

I related go Sydney as she attempted to navigate her new normal on Firefly Beach. I loved the background of her relationship with Nick and watching it flounder and redevelop through the story.

Sydney's self discovery was the highlight of the plot, followed closely by the stormy relationship with Nick. I enjoyed Syd's sweet son and his role in her story, as well.

Thank you NetGalley and the always amazing Jenny Hale for one of my favorite beach reads. I started this but due to family stuff put it down on chapter 3. I picked it up yesterday and blew through the pages. This story was so well put together and left me guessing. No spoilers but there was laughter and tears with the characters which is how I judge a book. If the character sheds a tear and I do then it is a WIN!

For Sydney Flynn, her treasured family home, Starlight Cottage, is her sanctuary. The house on the beach, surrounded by glittering turquoise waters, is the perfect place for her fresh start, piecing her life back together after it fell apart. That’s until her knees almost buckle at the sight of Nate Henderson.

As teenagers, Sydney and Nate spent their summers whispering sweet nothings and promising “forever” to each other. Sydney never imagined that her childhood sweetheart was going to break her heart, driving away from her and Firefly Beach, never looking back.

Now, when Sydney spots him at her sister’s wedding, their eyes meeting across the rows of guests, she barely recognizes him. The down-to-earth son of a fisherman, forever in beach t-shirts and flip flops, is replaced with a successful songwriter in a designer suit, a superstar in the country music scene. Yet despite everything, his dazzling blue eyes and easy smile stir up all the feelings she thought she’d left behind.

Nate is back to make it up to Sydney, but can she forgive him for all the heartbreak he caused? And it’s not only about her – Sydney is a single mother to Robby, her whole world, and she won’t let just anyone into their lives. Can she trust that Nate has really changed?

I loved this book and can't recommend it enough for your beach bag or picnic bag for the park. It is the perfect Summer read!

The House on Firefly Beach is the perfect summer read. Sweet, charming, light and feel good.

Sydney comes back home after a divorce with her adorable son. While she planned on rebuilding her life, she did not plan on encountering her first love, Nate. Nate came back when he heard that Sydney was returning to finally set things right. There were times Nate drove me a little batty, but not so much that it took away from the book (there was really no reason to keep some of the things he did on the down low). I liked that we got to see glimpses of their past to see how they could be in the future, made them a much stronger pairing.

Sydeny's son Robby stole the show and wormed his way into everyone's hearts. I appreciated that Sydney tried to protect him from getting heart by another potential abandonment (the first being his dad) but everyone in this cute little town is there to be depended on (including Nate).

The House on Firefly Lane has a wonderful cast of side characters (including the couple from the first book that I haven't read yet) and Nate's model ex-girlfriend who is going through some stuff of her own (whom I would LOVE to read about in the next book).

I would like to thank Bookouture for asking mew to review this book and be apart of the blog tour.
I adore Jenny Hale's books, she has a unique way of telling a story that not only captures the setting but the characters are well thought out with backgrounds. The House on Firefly Beach follows Nate and Sydney as they must overcome the past and protect Starlight Cottage on Firefly Beach.
Jenny is able to create a lovely romance that has all the usual elements that you would expect but she adds something special to her stories that gives her readers a really goof feel good real when you read them. I always come away feeling all cosy, warm and relaxed.
Jenny Hale is the queen of a beautiful romance.

This book is a feel good summer beach read. It's a story of first love and coming home again after mistakes were made years ago. The characters were great and the author described the setting of the beach house so you truly felt you were there. This was my first book to read by Jenny Hale but definitely will not be my last.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this book!

I really liked Sidney and Nate, even though I think she forgave him to soon! In the end she apologizes to Nate for not seeing sooner that he left her for her own good... I didn't like it! They had good chemistry but she should have hold her ground a bit more! Overall, a slow burn but an ok summer read :)

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my review. Ahhhhh I love Jenny Hale stories! They are consistently sweet romances-no big shocking twists, but you can't help but fall in love with the characters and this story is no exception. Firefly beach is the romantic setting for this story-it is the place where Sydney Flynn and Nate Henderson grew up, fell in love and then crashed and burned when Nate left Sydney behind to pursue a career as a song writer. Sydney never really got over it or forgot Nate but it is still quite a shock when she runs into him at her sister's wedding. Nate wants to forgive and forget, but Sydney has a little boy, Robby and she is not willing to let go of her heart so easily for a second time.
No big surprise endings, but reading this novel is like watching a Hallmark movie in December-it just feels so good to do it so why not?

This is a nice, light romance. Will it change your life? Probably not, but it will add joy and little beach magic. I gave this 3 stars; good writing and good characters made it a little more entertaining than it could have been.

Jenny Hale is one of my favourite authors, I have read and loved all of her books to date, and everytime she brings a new book out, I always know that I'm in for a treat.

Turns out I was in for a real special treat with this book as I got to return to Firefly Beach, which also meant getting reaquainted with previous characters such as Hallie, Ben, Robby, Uncle Hank and adorable dog Beau. It was so lovely to see how they were all getting on.

With this book we get to discover Sydney (Hallie sister) and Nate's story and what a story it was, it was wonderfully written with lots of drama and emotions throughout.

If you haven't discovered Jenny's books yet, then trust me when I say that you are truly missing out. Her books are just so heartfelt and magical.

The House on Firefly Beach by Jenny Hale was a great read. What happens when how you thought your life would be comes crashing down around you? That the person that made you whole leaves? That’s what happened to Sydney right after college graduation when the love of her life, Nate Henderson, leaves her and tells her that he feels stifled and wants to find out what is out there in the world…alone. Needless to say, Sydney doesn’t understand. They had so many plans. What happened? Sydney tries to go on with her life, getting married to someone else, having a child and then divorcing. Nate in the meantime has become a famous songwriter. Wait, what? She was the one that was going to become famous as a writer. They haven’t seen each other in 10 years and then Sydney’s sister is getting married to someone who has business relationship with Nate. Guess who comes to the wedding. Sydney tries to keep her distance, but it’s hard. Will they have a second chance? Read to find out! Great little romance book that I would recommend to anyone.
Thanks to netgalley and the p publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest opinion

Cute story about two people finding each other again after many missteps along the way. The main characters are likable and easy to follow. I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my honest review.

Generally I really enjoy this author's work, but found this one a little flat. Not sure why, but never really warmed up to Sydney. When Nate left her years ago, and crushed her, and now he is back, the story is familiar. But after 10 years, and all the life changes the story was awkward. A good quick summer read, but wasn't my favorite. Would still recommend though.

When Sydney's long lost love comes back to their home town, old feelings are revisited. Will Sydney open up and let Nate back into her and her son's life or will she push him out and go on with her life.
Overall, this was a decent quick read. I found Sydney's character to be a little standoffish and somewhat annoying. I enjoyed going back to Firefly Beach and the continuation of the stories told, but I did not love this book like I had hoped I would.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for the copy of this book.

This is truly a great love story: love of family, traditions, first loves, and friends. The setting is a beach community, one you would love to visit in the summer. There are many activities to enjoy around and in the water, a close knit community who care about their roots, and people who are loyal to each other. Sydney is divorced and has moved back to Firefly Beach with her young son to help her uncle after the death of his wife. Nate, the love of her life throughout high school and college, has also decided to come home. Sydney can't get over the fact that Nate left her to pursue a writing career in music. She would love to move on, but Nate has other plans. Great book. Dynamic characters and plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader interested!

The house on firefly beach, pleasantly suprised me. It was an amazing quick summer read. It was light and easy to read, which was just what I needed.
It had some very touching moments, which brought me to tears, but in a good way as well.
The characters were all lovely, and you got to know them pretty well quite quickly.
I really enjoyed the pace of the story. The chase of the love story as well, which ended perfectly.
