Lottie lives alone in London. In fact, Lottie enjoys the solitude and prefers old things or dead things. She works as a curator for a museum, which is just up her alley. Everything changes when she meets the new vibrant, charming, and handsome priest, Father Montgomery. But, is this priest all he seems? Lottie soon gets drawn into the Irish mob circle. Secrets, lies and murder become part of her life, as we learn Father Montgomery has a not too savory history he is hiding. Lottie finds herself in new, dangerous territory as she works to control her life and figure out what to do.

The book was fairly well done. I though there could have been a bit more character development, but it was okay as it is. I found Lottie to be a bit naïve, but what else can you expect from such a character? After all, she did not know who exactly Father Montgomery or his brother were and their past history with the mob. There were lots of interesting characters: Lottie, the priest, her and his brothers, her grandmother, her friends—all of whom jumped out of the pages as I read more and more. I was definitely caught up in the story, waiting and hurrying to find out what would happen next. Held suspense from start to finish. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

In the Name of The Father is a novel by British author, K. French. A year after her beloved Grandma died, twenty-five-year-old museum curator, Charlotte Carmichael is travelling back to Whitby from London to celebrate her Gran’s life with her old friends. Back in Gran’s cottage, chatting to her dear neighbour, walking up to the Abbey, going to Sunday Mass, all are part of the life she remembers with the person she loved most.

But at this Sunday’s mass, Bishop Richardson hands over to young Father Montgomery. and Father Montgomery is drop-dead gorgeous! He leaves Lottie breathless. And while she’s not a bit religious, she well knows it’s totally inappropriate to fall for a priest. But it seems that’s what is happening. On multiple encounters with the man, some admittedly engineered by Lottie, she’s getting the idea he’s attracted too. Of course, he can’t act on that, no way.

But there’s something intriguing about the handsome cleric, quite apart from his looks. And there’s something else going on: Lottie is convinced she’s being followed. Before long it’s clear that this clergyman has a far-from-typical background, one that features an Irish crime boss and some stolen loot.

From the dark prologue, it’s difficult to predict the direction this novel will take. There are plenty of surprises and it is darkly funny in places. This sexy, romantic tale of intrigue is probably best enjoyed by ignoring any plot holes, forgiving Lottie her sometimes-dubious morals and her copious alcohol consumption, embracing the melodrama and just going along for the ride.

Interesting and definitely suspenseful read! Good for those who are looking for a romance that will make them hold their breath from the sheer tension.

Sorry to report this book did nothing for me. None of the characters felt real or even likable. Charlotte, a 25 year old beautiful virgin, way more naive than was believable , falls head over heels in lust with a priest on his first assignment. Tongue tied, unable to stop staring at his hunky body, just didn't make me want to read more. I read 50% and said it was way more than enough for me.
Throw in the fact that he had his own issues, a brother who was a loser, a mother who was distant, a caretaker for the priest who was a horrid witch and there was nothing to like.

Many Thanks to Net Galley, BooksGoSocial and the author K French for a chance to read and review this book.

The blurb talks about an abbey Whitby overlooking the North Sea that is witness to many secrets and going in I assumed a story revolving around the abbey and its past especially with a central character that works in a museum. But surprisingly, and a good surprise, this was a romantic suspense story with an element of thrill factor added to it.
Lottie is a loner, preferring to be alone rather than be forced into a party that bores her to death. She loves her job in the museum and keeps herself entertained. It was supposed to be a simple event to celebrate the anniversary of her gran’s passing with some of gran’s friends but when Mrs. Clarke insists that Lottie attend the church and there Lottie faces father Kit Montgomery the man whose simple presence makes her tongue-tied and breathless. A few chance encounters and Lottie and Kit are flouting all rules but Father Montgomery is not at all what he seems on the surface.
The story was engaging and thrilling with Lottie’s life taking a 360 degree turn once Kit’s past comes into play. Her character is introduced as someone who abhors alcohol but then throughout the book, she’s getting drunk coz of one reason or another. There was a sense of danger that was missing in the story especially towards the latter half when one expects firecrackers. I would have loved to root for at least one male in the story be it Kit or Ennis but somehow both characters fails to evoke any passionate feeling.
A well-crafted romantic thriller with a very unexpected ending which did surprise me big time as it makes it totally different from other books in this genre.

When I read the synopsis to this book, it sounded like something I would really enjoy.

It was okay.

I will say, usually thrillers are not my cup of tea and I have tried on numerous occasions to connect with them. Sadly, this wasn't my time.

I will say, I enjoyed the use of "Lottie's" character's emotions, and the "my girl" it was sweet.

Charlotte (Lottie) Carmichael is a young woman used to living alone. Her job defines her .. she works as curator of a small museum. She much prefers the company of old things ..dead things ... than the living.

That is true until today .... she meets man who is everything she ever wanted. Tall, dark, handsome, warm brown eyes, and a smile to kill for.

The only problem .. he is a new priest in her parish.

She can't control her attraction to this man. He seems to be just what she thinks... but is he?

Secrets, lies, murder ....

Suspenseful from start to finish, this is a well-told tale. The characters are deftly drawn, however, Lottie comes across as a bit naive .... almost a born victim. The priest is mysterious and keeps the reader invested and wondering. It's a page turner right up until the unexpected ending.

Many thanks to the author / BooksGoSocial / Netgalley for the digital copy of this Romantic Suspense. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I enjoyed the pacing of the novel. It followed a standard thriller narrative trajectory, contrasting tension with sharp bursts of action. However, in all the situations Lottie found herself in, I couldn't really feel the danger or anxiety that is a big part of the genre. She seemed to mainly stumble across events, and so this took away some of the excitement of the narrative. Whilst Lottie's interactions with Kit were invigorating, it would have been nice to have had more character development outside of their interactions with each other. At first I found it difficult to get to grips with Kit, and although his background was interesting, I didn't really connect with him. I found Kit's brother Ennis far more compelling as a character. Despite being secondary, he had a depth to him that I enjoyed. For a thriller/mystery it was reasonably paced, but I would have liked more drama. Not necessarily events-wise, but more development of the characters to make me more invested in what was happening. Otherwise, it was a pleasant read!

This book was not really my style. It's a first person book, but it switches between people. It also has flash backs. It didn't hook me right away, so it was hard to get into.

I also assume the way it download messed it up some. Most paragraphs were split into at least two parts.

Wow what a good book felt a bit like The Thorn Birds. Priest meets lovely lady. Loved how the book was based in different countries and it felt you could see the scenery that was being discussed. Must be hard going into Priesthood when you still have your feelings for woman
