I love a good affirmation book. This one is sweet and simple but really powerful in that way. I think it's super cute and well done

While this is not one I would purchase for my library, there is great. content and you can never start too early in creating positive thoughts. This would make a good companion to other social emotional books. My biggest concern is that this content can be found online for parents and teachers.

I am always looking for books, especially self workbooks, that would be a great tool for students and children. This book is brilliantly designed for children to self reflect and build themselves up, including expressing gratitude, positive thinking and self-talk, and creating specific ways to build positivity and self-esteem. I, personally wrote down a lot of what the book had to offer for my own exercises. This book spans a year, and every month it offers new and exciting ways to encourage children to learn and grow with love and gratitude. I believe that this should be book parents and teachers utilize for children.

One of the Better Affirmation Books for Kids

The book's subtitle simply states that it has 365 affirmations for kids, but the book is a lot more than that. Along with the affirmations—which are organized by month of the year and given a theme for each month—the book also has projects, easy physical exercises (some depicted by a child in a wheelchair doing them), and theme-related stories of inspiring people, including children like Greta Thunberg. Most of the month themes relate in some way to something that happens in the month, like love for February, learning for September, and gratitude for November. Like most DK books, the pages are visually interesting with bright colors and diagonal text and contain quite a lot of information presented in unique ways. It’s hard to know where to look first! Some affirmations have additional information or questions to help the child understand the affirmation better or take her or him on a deeper dive into its topic. Occasionally, a box with information for the parents provides guidance so they can get more out of the book or help the child do something in particular. The book shows diverse races and ethnicities. I've seen a number of affirmation books for kids, and I think this is one of the more well-done ones out there.

Because "I Am, I Can" is a DK book, it is gorgeously made. This would be a great gift for someone in the 8-12 age range (with some flex on either end). It's beautifully illustrated, useful, encouraging, and altogether wonderful. I will be buying it for my library and displaying it. I am already planning to create a passive program around it. It's timely and altogether amazing.

This is a wonderful and inspiring book that is geared to elementary school-aged children and guides them through themes, real-life events, activities, and of course helpful affirmations and mantras in the quest to feel centered, strong and brave. Our children loved the inclusion of the biography sections which featured children who have changed the world through their attitude and determination. Highly recommend!

I am a DK publisher lover from the start. I enjoy the photographs of real children in each book they print. This book is no different with inclusion. For those of us with children in the home, this one can be a helpful tool to talk about all kinds of thoughts one can have from mindfulness to generosity. There are 365 ideas separated into calendar months. The pages are bright and colorful. I would enjoy this book myself as sometimes adult books of similar topic seem to pushy or difficult to implement. I also like that you could buy this book at any point of the year and just get started by looking up the day and going forward, using it for many years. Doing each small task can help us remember to think outside ourselves and to our community. I hope to that many libraries choose this one and share it with their communities.

This book would make a great gift a tween, teen, and their parents. I was expecting plain text affirmations, a bit like the "word of the day" calendars. This book is so much more. Each month has a beautiful layout to introduce the monthly theme. Then the daily affirmations are incorporated. I think this is a great introduction to mindfulness!

It literally is what it says it is and more! Going in, I honestly just expected a list of affirmations. We get fun activities for kids to do. Each month has it's own theme and it even includes one for leap years! (Leap year babies, you are not forgotten! LOL) They also have "for the grownups.." sections that allow parent's to interact with their kids to make this a great bonding experience. It also has Historical/learning pages that are great learning lessons (includes activists like Greta Thunberg, historical figures, small section on Anne Frank, Malala Yousafzai, etc). Can I also mention that it's inclusive/it's diversity in images (of kids)! It's what we need in children's publishing.

IN ALL HONESTY, this might be geared towards children's but i feel like some adults might need some simple affirmations.

The time is just right for this book.  It will help children to feel calm, centered and good about themselves.  These are all qualities that will enhance young lives and help kids to cope during our current time of crisis.

The author recalls learning a mantra from her mom when she was young.  This helped her to see the ways in which words can make a difference.  She has grown up to write a helpful book.

This title is divided by months with each month having a theme.  Some of those chosen by the author are Positivity, Growth, Love, Family and Friendship, and Generosity.  Each month has a saying for each day and there are also activities. These include making a coping wheel, for instance. The photos and artwork have been well chosen to enhance the text.

This seems to me to be a positive, self-enhancing title.  I recommend it for children that you know.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

I was able to read I am, I can by Wynne Kinder for free from Netgalley for providing me with an advanced ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book provides children with daily affirmations of the year to help them be strong, brave and to handle anything.  The book has beautiful illustrations and activities to encourage children to try new techniques to manage stress, make friendships and keep anxiety at bay.

I Am I Can begins with an introduction that is cute and accessible for children, and the book continues this way. The book incorporates 12 themes: positivity, adventure, growth, self-awareness, creativity, generosity, joy, gratitude, love, family and friends, learning, and calm.
The pages are laid out in visually interesting ways that will appeal to children. There are great brief profiles of people (i.e., nature lovers Greta Thunberg, David Attenborough, Sylvia Earke) which are a great addition. The activities (i.e., the coping wheel) are easy to implement and call for inexpensive materials. The incorporation of a Feelings Index is wonderful as it will point you to specific sections if there is a need to explore and support something specific (i.e., frustration, isolation...). The children in the text are visually diverse, so students are likely to see themselves within the text.

I could see this book being use at home, as well as in a classroom to help support children in developing self-regulation strategies, developing a positive self image, and developing coping strategies and becoming more mindful.

I was provide with a e-ARC from Net Galley for an honest review.

What a powerful and fantastic book. It is a month by month, day by day of affirmations for children. There are also biography snippets about all walks of people and how attitude affected their success in life. There are also activities to do with children. This is a must have book for teachers. I am going to buy a physical copy right now. It is that powerful! Highly recommended!

This is a wonderfully, inspiring book. I love the graphics and the whimsical way that the affirmations are presented. This is a book that I will purchase for my own 13 year old daughter, I also know that my 6 year old daughter will find enjoyment in this as well. I love the self- empowering feel of the book. Well done!
