Prophetess The Talisman Series: Book Three by Tam DeRudder Jackson

This the first book I have read of the series I did enjoy this well written book. It would probably have helped to read the others but enough information to make you want to read the rest. Fast read enjoyable even as a stand alone .

Pretty good, wayyyy too short. The character were pretty one dimensional to me. Did not like the story, did not like the writing, did not like the length. If you're gonna do a fantasy book, it's kind of a rule of thumb to make it long.

With this book, Tam DeRudder Jackson has for the first time brought to the fore a more mature couple who find each other despite adverse circumstances and fight against evil. It was a change from the otherwise quite young actors and even though the book did not go very deep, it was a pleasant and entertaining story.

I did not love this one as much as the others. The story didn’t pull me in as much as I wanted and I found I just didn’t connect like I did with the previous books.

A little confusing story as this is the third in a series and I have not read the first two. That being said, this is a quick read. It is the story of two people who didn’t think they would find their fated mate. There is some back and forth between the characters, but in the end they find their way. In order to really enjoy this story, I do think you need to have read the first installment as I think it would give you more background on the characters in the book.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC for an honest review

This is the third in the series, I liked it a little more than the second. The woman had doubts about the abilities but pulled it together and performed the task. It wraps the series in a strong way and I enjoyed it. If you want an easy read to just take a break for a few hours this is a great choice.

This is the third book in a series that I have been enjoying a lot! The thing about this one, though, is that you really shouldn't start here. To understand a lot of what is going on - you should read the first two books and especially the second one. The story covers most of the same ground as the second book so there isn't a lot of new information - just new perspective.

I give major points for a couple that is over 40 and has experienced a lot of life already - particularly Shanley who raised her niece on her own. But, as the series goes, I don't think this added a lot. I am not sure I needed this story. I am anxiously awaiting some other characters stories - so this left me somewhat blah.

Overall - if you like this series I'd recommend the story to fill in the gaps of the second book and to get to know the characters and world better.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

3.75 stars-PROPHETESS is instalment 2.5 and novella in Tam DeRudder’s contemporary, adult TALISMAN paranormal/fantasy Celtic mythology series. This is forty-two year old, Celtic warrior Alaisdair Graham, and prophetess Shanley Conlan’s storyline. PROPHETESS runs parallel to and crosses over with the events of book two Warrior. We are first introduced to Shanley and Alaisdair in Warrior.

NOTE: For a complete history of the events leading up to Shanley and Alaisdair’s meeting and relationship, I recommend reading the series in order especially book two Warrior.

SOME BACKGROUND: Centuries earlier, the Morrigan cursed the descendants of the Sheridan family, a curse that has the potential to be broken with the mating of a warrior and his fated mate. Desperate to prevent the breaking of the curse, Morgan sets into motion a series of battles that will pull the Sheridan family into a war where family and friendships will be tested. Morrigan is part of Celtic mythology representing the cycle of birth and death, but is also the patron of magic and revenge, prophecy and night.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Shanley and Alaisdair) PROPHETESS follows the quick building romance and relationship between forty-two year old, Celtic warrior Alaisdair Graham, and prophetess Shanley Conlan. By the age of twenty-eight, Alaisdair Graham had never found his fated mate; his Talisman; the woman that called to his heart. Fast forward fourteen years, following an eternity on the fringes of warrior society, Alaisdair would come face to face with Shanley Conlan, his fated Talisman, and the woman with whom Alaisdair will fall in love. As the Samhaim approaches, and the war with the Morrigan on the rise, Alaisdair must prepare for battle, as his new-found mate discovers she has the ability to prophesize about the future.

PROPHETESS is a quick read; a fast paced story that overlaps with the events of book two Warrior but focuses on the relationship between two people who thought love and fate had left them behind. The premise is entertaining but I was hoping for a little bit more; the romance is passionate; the characters are colorful and charismatic.

When I decided to review this book because I loved the cover and thought the title was interesting. I also love reading anything about Scotland and men wearing kilts. When I started to read the book and it was heavy in the supernatural stuff, I did not even think I wanted to read the book but I said I would review it and I followed through. Well I have to say I was quite wrong because I absolutely loved reading this book and was very entertained. After I got into the first few chapters, I was hooked. . It always takes me weeks to read a book since I work and this book took me three days because I could not put it down. I loved the meaning of family in this book, the danger, the romance and of course the happy ending. This author was very good at keeping the story rolling with interesting characters and it was never a boring minute! I would encourage anyone to read this book and fully intend to read more books by this author.

I received an advanced review copy for free from NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Having not read any of the prior books in this series it took me a while to understand the terminology and backstory.

Basically, there is a trio of Goddesses, Maeve, Macha, and the Morrigan who prey on young warriors from a certain age for sexual pleasure and to do their bidding. To circumvent this from happening the warriors must pair up with their talisman (young, magically inclined female) to protect each other,

Shanley Conlan is a talisman yet she is nearing the age of 40 and has not found her warrior to complete her despite her dreams of a dark-haired man. She leaves her ancestral home of Conlan Manor to aid her sister and her niece. After a tragic turn of events Shanely now has full custody of her niece Ceri and has dedicated her life to raising and protecting her.

After many years, she is tasked once again to return to Conlon manor and participate in a ritual when Ceri finds her warrior. What Shanely did not expect was to meet her "dream man" Alasdair Graham. Sparks fly instantly and they secretly gravitate towards each other. As they train together, Shanely's power finally comes to fruition and she sees a dark prophecy ahead. Can she be strong enough to protect the man she loves or will she let the fear of losing something she has longed so desperately for to get in the way?

I read Rio and Ceri's story and to come across Shanley's story meant that I would definitely have to read it as well, and it didn't disappoint. In fact, I love Alaisdair's charm and how upfront he is in this story.
Thanks Netgalley for the eARC, anyone who loves a good romance and some Scottish charm and humor as well will definitely love this.

This is the 3rd book in the Talisman series. Hamish is at it again. He is up to his matchmaking tricks.
We saw some of Shanley and Alaisdair's tail in the Warrior now we get the story from there point of view.
Shanley Conlan gave up on finding her warrior years ago. Alaisdair Graham has never stopped looking for his other half. This couple is in there 40's but no less swoon-worthy. Scotland and all its beauty and history is the backdrop of this sweet love story that proves its never to late to find love.
I have to say I love this cover. HOT,HOT,HOT!! This is fast becoming one of my favorite series. Thank you for another great escape. July cant get here fast enough.
