Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Every Last Secret by A.R. Torre.

I've read other A.R. Torre books and really enjoyed them, so I'm definitely not writing her off after this book, but man, I didn't like it.

Long story short, you're married to one of the wealthiest and most powerful men in town. At a work party you meet Neena and Matt, Neena is there to start work at your husband's company to motivate the staff. But you have bad vibes about Neena, you're almost positive she's there to steal your man.

Spoiler alert, she's totally there to steal your man. And then most of the story is of Neena trying to befriend Cat, in order to get closer to Cat's husband William, and this is a cat and mouse game that drags on fooooorever. It's cliche, uninteresting, and just plain gross. A lot of people liked this book, so I'm not going to say that it's objectively bad, just not at all for me.

This book opens with a bang and does not let up. From the first chapter, someone is being interrogated, there’s a dead body, but who has died? I couldn’t wait to see who met their fatal demise. Told in the present and four months earlier, you get perspectives from both Cat and Neena. From the beginning, I didn’t like either of these ladies. Cat was very judgemental, and extremely stuck up. But, Neena wasn’t any better. She envied Cat’s life and would stop at nothing to achieve what she felt was owed to her. William also wasn’t a prize, and I wish both of them would leave him alone. This gave me Real Housewives vibes with murder sprinkled in between.

I love watching rich people drama, and A.R. Torre did not disappoint bringing the lies, backstabbing and jealousy. I felt like I was behind the gates of an affluent neighborhood watching these women be conniving and manipulative. I really liked that the book was descriptive, I felt like I was watching everything unfold with my own eyes which I loved. Both Cat and Neena were so despicable and unlikeable, I wasn’t rooting for either of them to win. And in the same breath, I was thoroughly entertained by their cattiness and pettiness. Between the two of them, I could not find any redeemable qualities. This was my first book by this author, and it definitely won’t be my last!

0.75 "histrionic, ridiculous, had to finish" stars !!

Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for an ecopy. This was released December 2020. I am providing an honest review.

Well well well. Another shitty domestic thriller. Quel Suprise !

Prose is a decent 3 star contemporary chick lit style. Underneath the decent prose are inconsistent and non-sensical psychologies, histrionic antics and twist and turns that make you giggle rather than quake. There is some real potential but the truth is this novel failed on almost every count.

Believe it or not at 0.75 rating this is still not near the worst of thrillers I have read or attempted.

I have four other books by this author but I will not rush to them and perhaps they might magically disappear from my Kindle !

I wanted to work through books I was never able to review or finish and since I’ve enjoyed A.R Torre's books in the past I wanted to give this another chance. It was definitely worth the read.
Every Last Secret is an entertaining domestic thriller. Cat Winthorpe appears to have it all. A beautiful home, a rich and handsome husband, and a great social standing. Neena Ryder hasn't been so lucky in life and is anxious to move up in the world. When Neena and her husband move in next door to the Winthorpes, she decides she wants what Cat has. Including Cat's husband and she knows just what to do to get what she wants. Problem is, she underestimates what Cat will do to keep what's hers.

Neena's husband, Matt, was basically the only likable character here. Cat and Nina are both incredibly toxic but it worked out because I was able to enjoy the book without worrying - or caring - about who would be okay in the end. I was kind of rooting for Cat over Neena though!
I’m not a big fan of cheating in books so I wasn’t fond of that aspect however, I couldn't put this down. The alternating POV's kept me engaged and I enjoyed seeing how they planned to one-up each other.

While I guessed the twist early on, it was still fun following along to see exactly how everything would play out and I was satisfied with the ending.
Overall, this was a bit predictable but enjoyable nonetheless.

25% into this book and I just cannot finish it. It reads superficial and exactly like every other book about pretentious rich women seeking what they want at the expense of others, except in this one, I don't even yet have a motive or backstory as to why I should empathize or understand the characters. I just don't care about them at all. The prologue wasn't enough of a hook to leave me wanting to know more. Even unlikeable characters are supposed to give you a reason to hate them. This feel like the first draft of a story where it hasn't been fully fleshed out or developed enough.

This was a quick-paced easy read. I enjoyed reading this story line. Characters are on point! Recommend if you like this type of book!

This was fine- quick and easy read. I think this is marketed as a thriller, but it’s definitely more of a domestic drama with a sprinkling of suspense. A messy story of privilege and infidelity, with a little bit of a twist. Not quite my go-to genre, but would recommend if that’s what you’re looking for.

Neena, a married woman who thinks she knows how to use her feminine ways to earn a higher payday and maybe a new and better husband this time. Then there is Cat, she has a wonderful husband and lots of money and prestige and she’s not going to give any of it up without a fight. I really enjoyed this very highly entertaining and devious domestic drama.

Every Last Secret was such a fun thriller that dug deep into the lives of the unattainably wealthy. This is definitely over the top and dramatic. All of the characters are very unlikeable, but i think that makes it even more fun to read. Would recommend if youre looking for a thriller.

Thank you to Netgalley & the Publisher for allowing me to read Every Last Secret.

This was an easy read and kept you wondering what the twist was going to be. It's crazy what obsession and revenge will make you do! You will love and hate some of the characters all at the same time.

I'm on a real streak when it comes to domestic thrillers. Every Last Secret by A.R. Torre is another one that is just solid all around. It took me maybe 10-20 pages to really get into it, but when I did I was hooked. It was a medium-paced thriller chocked full of just absolute insanity. It totally gave me Single White Female kind of vibes to it (and don't I feel old using that reference).

Cat has everything, and Neena will do anything to get it. Seriously, these two give new meaning to the word 'frenemies'. Everything about their relationship is like the extreme of very toxic female relationships. Like watching endless episodes of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but with murderous intentions. In Every Last Secret by A.R. Torre you really have to keep your friends close, and your enemies even closer.

Who doesn’t love a good story about obsession? Neena is someone you’ll love to hate. Jealousy is a toxic trait and when written well, fun to be apart of! Definitely going to reading more from this author!

Meet Dr Ryder - motivational coach, new wife on the block.

Meet Neena - the epitome of a perfect Atherton Housewife.

When Dr Ryder takes a position at Neena's husband's company and then moves in next door, lines are quickly blurred. Colleague. Boss. Neighbour. Friend?

You know what they say - keep your friends close and your neighbors closer.

Cat Winthorpe is married to William, and has perfected their life together. They have money, multiple homes, a full staff, and prestige within their community. But Cat's natural grace has not come easy, and she has worked to fit into this life seamlessly. So when William hires a new employee, Neena, things begin to change. Neena and her husband buy the property next door, and suddenly Neena is a part of the Winthorpe's life. A little too enmeshed in their life, according to Cat.

I love this kind of story. The characters are not likeable, but it totally works. Their actions feel more authentic, because they are so complicated. The writing feels very refreshing, and is as light as it is complex. It will draw you in for sure. This would be a great lake or beach book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book was kinda all over for me. I really liked it at some points and some other points it kind of started to lose me. I really liked that we didn’t find out the whole story until the very end, but I like that it was teased throughout the book, so I felt like I wasn’t being teased too much by it.

But I absolutely love A.R. Torre and will read anything she writes.

This domestic thriller is full of twists, some that are easier to see coming than others. Readers that need a likable character should probably stay away from this one, but those that enjoy characters with a bit of darkness and turmoil will definitely enjoy this one!

Cat Winthrope. Neena Ryder. Two very different women who are similar in one startling way: they will do anything to get what they want. And they want the same thing. May the better woman win... Every Last Secret is a twisty, gripping thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. If you're looking for a story about conniving characters who will lower themselves to sabotage, seduction, and attempted murder, this one is definitely for you.
