Quick read but loved the storyline. I liked the characters but it all moved so fast I didn't get the connection with them that I like.

This book is part of a series, with a set of developed characters, but I'm not sure it would have made a difference if I started back at book 1 - this book does a good enough job catching you up on the relationships as they come up so it can work as standalone.

Rena is a woman who lost her memory when she became a vampire. Her mate, Ricardo, is the vampire that saved her by turning her into a vampire. There's a layer of other universes built in, but really just adds more locations for them to travel to. There's lots of paranormals in the mix, lots of friends to support Rena as she struggles with some haunting dreams. The plot gets a little muddled and I was concerned I was rooting for the wrong people (did Ricardo kidnap her from this warlock dude? Am I in the wrong here for enjoying their smutty scenes at all?), but we eventually get most of this worked out.

I admit to being a little confused while reading this because a large amount of text was repeated from the prologue about halfway through. Maybe it will get resolved in the future releases. I was so conflicted throughout that I didn't find myself enjoying Ricardo and Rena's relationship. For a short read, it was an interesting introduction to this world. I wish I enjoyed the romantic elements more, but this book could use 1 or 2 more chapters to satisfy me fully.
