I thought this was a good start to a new series. The characters were interesting, although I could not decide if the repartee between Rose and Edna was done in a friendly way or snarky.Lily gets drawn in to the mystery in a natural way, not a busybody way. It sets up for the next story nicely. there were a few times that I felt that the timing was off and not possible. I did want to go make some scones myself. There are some included recipes in the back of the book!

I was blessed with an Advanced reading copy of Tea and Treachery by Vicki Delany. This is a first in series and it is out in late July this year. This is the first in the Tea By the Sea series that I think you may find like me to be a new favorite. There is quite a bit to love right off the bat. A great setting, strong characters, an opinionated octogenarian, an overworked granddaughter, a tea room, a sassy cat, a loyal pup and a slightly off the wall best friend. I also liked that the back stories of the characters were not overly traumatic and the message of strong willed women I got from reading and enjoying the book. I am anxiously awaiting the second book in the series already!

Tea & Treachery by Vicki Delany is a new cozy mystery by a favorite author and I was thrilled to be able to read it.
Ms. Delany's comfortable writing style allows me to become fully engaged with the setting and the characters throughout the story. Lily has her hands full in Cape Cod as she cooks breakfast for her grandmother's B&B and bakes for her tea room, Tea by the Sea. The characters are developing nicely in this first book and I felt like I got to know them a little. Lily, Rose and Bernie/Bernadette are all smart, sassy. and determined women who take the investigation into their own hands. A smoothly paced plot with plenty of suspects, red herrings, twists and a exciting reveal made for a first rate beginning to this new series.

I'm a big fan of Vicki Delany's Sherlock Holmes Bookshop mysteries, so I was excited to read this first Tea by the Sea Mystery. I wasn't disappointed, as this was fun and has an intriguing story at its center. Set in a tea shop/B&B on Cape Cod, Lily and Rose and the supporting characters are all likeable, and the waterfront setting makes me want to take a trip out there immediately. Add that to the delicious tea shop menu that has made me want to eat all of the pastries, this is a perfect start to the series. I can't wait for the next one! Perfect for fans of Ellery Adams and Eva Gates.

A new series by Vicki Delaney.Tea and Treachery is on the seaside. Lily runs a tea shop next to her upscale grandmother Rose.. Her grandmother runs a Bed and Breakfast. She gets into all kinds of mischief. of that mischief has got her on a short list of suspects for murder.
Fun cast of characters, in small coastal town. Look forward to reading more of this series.

Cute cozy mystery with great characters. Lily has the challenge of her own business plus having to help her grandmother with her bed and breakfast. In addition solving a crime, protecting her grandmother and much much more. Her friend Bernie, the gardener,, Simon, and Matt, the soon to be neighbor, join the adventure to solve the crime.

Tea by the Sea, a traditional English tearoom on the picturesque bluffs of Cape Cod makes for a beautiful setting. Lily opened her tea room on her grandmothers B&B property. When the land next door is up for sale and to be rezoned into a resort it upsets Lily’s grandmother Rose. Rose is a no non sense type that tells it like it is.
When a man is killed on their property and associated with the land next door they must find the killer. To save their businesses and Roses freedom.
The characters, setting and mystery were wonderful. I can’t wait until the next adventure!

Lily Roberts runs a proper tea house on the grounds of her Grandmother Rose’s serene seaside B&B in Cape Cod. Rose’s quiet life is threatened when a developer is interested in buying the property next door for a hotel and golf course. Rose vows to fight the development, swearing it will happen over her dead body.
When the developer is found dead on the B&B’s beachfront Rose becomes the prime suspect. Rose and Lily’s BFF, Bernie, don’t trust the local detective assigned to the case and begin their own investigation, dragging a very unwilling Lily along for the sleuthing. Will The three of them be able to figure it out before Lily or Rose are picked picked before their time?
A great start to a new series by the author of the Sherlock Holmes bookshop mystery series. New England, and olde England, come together for a beautiful setting for this new series that features a grandmother and granddaughter duo. There is a lot of potential in this series and I can’t wait to see what the gals get up to next!

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of TEA & TREACHERY (Book 1 of the Tea by the Sea Mysteries) by Vicki Delaney in exchange for an honest review. Lily Roberts, a professionally trained pastry chef, has recently left the big city, joined her grandmother Rose in running a Cape Cod B&B, and opened a traditional English tearoom. A man with binoculars begins appearing around town and appears to be stalking the ramshackle property adjacent to Rose’s B&B. Rose soon learns the binocular stalker is real estate developer Jack Ford, who has plans to convert Rose’s neighboring property into a golf resort. Rose, immediately, loudly, and publicly, protests the anticipated development; confronts Ford, the property owner, and the town council member promoting the rezoning; and puts other plans in motion to preserve her own property’s peace. When Ford meets his maker via a long drop from a tall cliff on Rose’s property, Rose is the obvious suspect. The detective’s extreme laziness and habit of fabricating evidence in order to avoid actual investigation is part of local lore, so Lily begins cultivating her own list of suspects. It looks like Lily will have to weed out the killer before the shady detective can replant prickly Rose in a penitentiary.
I thought this was a good start to a new series. I recommend this book to fans of Vicki Delaney and to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, seaside settings, B&Bs, bakeries, real estate, historic homes, and crooked officials.
