Kate Pearce has become one of my favorite authors and Morganville one of my favorite imaginary small towns. As in the previous books, the author weaves deftly developed characters, detailed descriptions of not only the visual scenes but also the ins and outs of how a working ranch works (along with the inside scoop of how the professions of the other characters worked) and steady paced story lines into a wonderful tapestry of a tale. And always ends the book with at least one recipe.

The rebellious rancher is Ben Miller and this story is about him and actress Silver Meadow, who comes to Morgan Ranch to get experience on a trail ride for a movie she hopes to be in. The vivid imagery of the trail ride is stunning and the story also includes the problems of drug addiction. Ben is the second son of a family of six children, whose mother left them when he was ten (but that wasn't what really happened). After his father gave his older brother Adam full ownership of the ranch, Ben feels rudderless, as aside from Adam, he is the only one who works full time on the ranch. Now he owns nothing. He had a few traumatic experiences when he was younger and believes that anything that he wants will be taken away from him. On the tv screen at young age, Silver had been his first crush. Aside from working the Miller Ranch, Ben does some trail rides for BB of Morgan Ranch and is tasked with taking Silver for an authentic 10 day trail ride.

At twenty-five, Silver wants to take on more serious roles, but a few years ago she had got addicted to painkillers after a fall and her father, who has managed her career since she was a baby, is very protective. What happens on the trail, stays on the trail, but these two who seemingly are polar opposites quickly develop an understanding and admiration for each other. And when danger looms, Silver shows that she has True Grit.

I highly recommend this book as well as the rest of the series. I read an ARC from NetGalley.com and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

A superb Cowboy Romance!
I really got into this from the beginning and stayed until the last delicious page. Ben and Silver, no two people more polar opposites, yet in sync with each other, will you find. Country cowboy meets city starlet, and they clicked. On the inside, both were quite the same, surprisingly to each other.
Loved their time best on the trail, with their horses, mules and a sometimes fickle nature, where they got to know each other, no interference from anyone. Neither backed down, and gave just as good as they got. I chuckled often with the bluntness and witticisms thrown in! A bit of intense drama that showcased their mettle.
Reality and people intrude giving them a ton of hurdles it seemed, but I enjoyed reading how they overcame or compromised. Learning how their love and most importantly, trust, can only make their lives better, richer, stronger being together.
A great fast paced journey you won't want to put down until the last page. Very well written with the right amount of feels to conclude with a wonderful sigh worthy HEA
I received an ARC thru NetGalley and am giving my honest opinion

Hollywood meets the wild West. A cute love story. Glad to have read at least one of the previous books in this series, but not a requirement in order to enjoy this one. I skipped the intimate details, but enjoyed the banter of the couple.

This book is more like a 2.5, but it does round up to a 3.

The Rebellious Rancher is the 3rd book in the Millers of Morgan Valley series by Kate Pearce. It is Rancher Ben Miller and actress Silver Meadow’s story.

My thoughts:

This book was alright. It was a cute easy read. The writing was good. I liked how realistic Silver was….I thought the author made her a good balance of spoiled celebrity and capable person. I liked the trail ride….it was a beautiful setting, and the authors depiction was great. I really felt like I was riding the trail with them. It also gave us a glimpse of Silver becoming even more capable…thus someone who may be compatible with someone like Ben.

The stuff that didn’t work for me. I didn’t feel a real connection between Silver and Ben, and this immediately is a big strike in a romance novel! Lol. The intimate scenes were awkward. I think all of us (for the love of god...hopefully) believe in consent, but to ask before every action makes it feel clunky, clumsy, and far from sexy. I also didn’t like the together/breakup saga. Now I know most romances have this formula together...drama...breakup...get back together and live happily ever after, but this book did it 2….maybe 3 times. It was exhausting, and since I didn't have much buy in to the couple to begin with it made me more hesitant to believe they belonged together. By the end of the book...I didn’t even know if I was rooting for them to work out.

Even though it wasn’t my favorite...I think overall, people who like sweet western romances will be pleased with this addition to the Miller series.

Enjoyed the story. It is well written, entertaining and a great addition to the Millers of Morgan Valley series. Ben is to take Silver on a camping expedition to prepare for an upcoming movie audition but a serious accident tests Silver’s ability to handle a life and death situation. A serious attraction between Silver and Ben meets a lot of opposition but eventually everything works out but a lot happens first and there are a lot of misunderstandings and hurt feelings. This is a great read and I would highly recommend it.

This was the best Kate Pearce book I've read to date. I've read both the Morgan and the Miller series so far and this one kept me engaged from the very beginning. I couldn't put it down, but around 4 a.m. I had to finally make myself stop reading and come back to it. I still finished the book in less than 24 hours :-)

I just loved Silver and Ben. They were such a wonderful couple and although I usually find the whole cowboy/actress trope to be a little odd, Ben & Silver really did work well as a couple. Silver is a popular Hollywood actress who has had drug problems in the past. But she's recovered from that addiction and is now in Morgan Valley taking part in a trail ride in hopes it'll help her eventually get the lead role in a western movie. Silver honestly surprised me. She came off as the pampered young woman that she was in the beginning and I thought 'oh no, she's going to be a nightmare.' But then she surprised me by sucking it up and following instructions when she was told.

Ben is of course one of the Miller siblings and he's a bit down in the dumps after his dad left the family ranch to Adam, even though Ben has been right beside Adam helping run the ranch the whole time. So he jumps at the chance to lead the one-on-one trail ride at the Morgan dude ranch in hopes it'll help him figure out what he wants to do with his life moving forward. Imagine his surprise when he learns the client is the beautiful Silver.

Things are a bit rocky for them at first. Silver takes a day to get over herself and Ben is a bit gruff with her a lot. But after that first day, they begin to get close and work together to survive in the wilderness.

I have to admit that I admired Silver's resilience. She really surprised me when she came through in a big way for Ben when he needed her most. And Ben, well he was an idiot a few times and had the whole 'woe is me' attitude in spots, but he was just a big sweetheart who really wanted Silver to be happy.

In the end, they get their HEA and it was lovely. It wasn't easy for them to make things work and I'm quite shocked to see how they actually made it work, but you have to admire the compromise they made.

And why aren't Adam & Lizzie married yet in this book? They're still just dating, but surely they'd have moved forward with things by then. The timeline made this one a little confusing since the epilogue was a year after Ben/Silver even met.

I did enjoy this beautifully written romance, from a favourite author of mine, set on a cattle ranch in the USA. I felt I was actually an observer, wandering behind Ben and Silver as they went on their trail ride. Great descriptions of the scenery and the action that happened as a result of the storm.

There were tastefully written romance scenes and I thought the character development was good. I haven't read any of the other books in this particular series and this story definitely stands alone. I assume the the other books are about Ben's siblings, who do appear as side characters. This is a feel good story that I read in a couple of sittings. It has an epilogue and it was nice to catch up with the H/h a few months later. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me the eARC.

I read a lot of folks from Morgantown fall in love but this story particularly didn't warm my heart as the others did. Ben is in limbo because of family drama and he decides to take Silver on trail riding experience for her new film role. I like alpha males and clearly Ben wasn't, Silver was ok, even being a famous star she was enough down to earth to not being disliking but still very naive. So yeah their story was ok but it didn't make me stay awake the whole night to finish it.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

The Rebellious Rancher, was perfect. I enjoyed the alone time that Silver and Ben had while on the trail ride, the craziness of they L.A. scene and the relaxing ranch life. They all fit together.

Cowboy stories are my favorite to read. This one was an excellent read. A great story of two people so different. Kate writes her stories so well that you get drawn into the story and they become real characters. Love, romance and a heck of a trail ride will keep you entertained throughout the book. Definitely one to pick up and read.

The Rebellious Rancher by Kate Pearce is the third book in the Millers of Morgan Valley. The author also included the Morgans from her prior series Morgan Ranch. Recently the irascible father of the Millers has decided to leave the ranch to his oldest son. Ben has discovered that he is not happy about this, after all he has been working on the ranch all along unlike all the other brothers. He has decided to work with the Morgan Dude Ranch to help develop a trail riding experience.

Ben’s family is not exactly thrilled that his first trail riding experience takes him away from the farm during a really busy season. However, he is going and is taking a surprise guest. Her name is Silver and she is an actress that has had a hard time. She is ruled by her family and their expectations. Roughing it, putting up tents, riding horses, catching food are all new for Silver. Ben and Silver alone on a trail ride for days in the wilderness… I like Silver and Ben together. I like how the characters grow and support each other. I like the exciting situation and solution they run into. To me the ending is a great wrap up for them.

Kate Pearce’s books with all the cowboys and the beautiful Sierra mountains are wonderful. I think her story lines are interesting and the characters are not always stereotypical, while still being cowboys. I love the hard working people she portrays, that are as rugged and strong as the mountains. The Rebellious Rancher by Kate Pearce is a good read.

4 stars

I enjoyed this story. I don't normally read contemporary stories but I've enjoyed Kate's writing in the past. The Hero, Ben comes across as confused and hurt at the beginning. The heroine, Silver, on one level much more together. Their jobs could not be more different. His the earthy grounded work of running a ranch, hers the airy fairy celebrity world of acting and theatre. They have both had experience of darkness in the form of drugs. I thought their fathers were particularily awful but probably realistic in that father's often try to control their progeny...saying they loved their children and were misunderstood didn't make me more sympathetic.

I will look out for other stories in this series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Pearce has a great series with the Morgan and Miller family ranches. Ben Miller is trying to find his place in the family when his father gives the ranch to his brother. Going on a trail ride with Silver Meadow is what he needs. Silver Meadow is a child turned adult star trying to navigate her career without the shadow of her father. This couple find that what they need most is each other. Great outdoor adventure with dangers along the way. This is book 3 in The Millers of Morgan Valley series that follows the romance between Ben Miller, a rancher, and Silver Meadows, a famous movie star. The young actress is wanting to get a part in a new Western and felt like she could gain experience by hiring a trail guide to help her learn. While I struggled with Silver being so immature and annoying, she ended up growing up and losing the Hollyweird attitude. She was a spoiled young woman that expected everyone to do everything for her. Ben had struggles of his own trying to overcome a past relationship that ended with her death.

The trail ride was an experience that neither one expected. Steamy romance while out on their 10-day ride on horseback starts to complicate their already messy lives. When a hard rain makes them turn back early, Ben gets thrown from his horse and gets hurt. Silver now has to step up and help rescue Ben and then find a way to get them rescued.

I’m a big fan of Kate Pearce’s series, Morgan Ranch. Getting to revisit the crossover characters in to this series was a nice touch. Family drama, controlling parents, anger, growing up, and love is all packed in a satisfying HEA ending even though I was able to guess the outcome correctly.

I received a free copy of The Rebellious Rancher in exchange for an honest review. At first, I was skeptical about the plot, and the movie star nexus. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This was actually a well written novel, and I especially liked Ben's character. He was not starstruck, and treated Silver like any other client. The bantering between the two was entertaining, and I found myself laughing several times. It was especially entertaining when Silver tried to take five large suitcases on her camping expedition. Overall, this was a good read, and one I would recommend to friends and family.

Kate Pearce has given us another chapter in the the Miller family in the Millers of Morgan Valley series. We are introduced to Ben Miller who is struggling with the resentment he feels toward his family when his father decides to leave the family ranch to his older brother. With no real direction or role at the family ranch, he decides to take on a trail riding job at a neighboring ranch with a mysterious client. Turns out the mysterious client is actress Silver Meadows who is also dealing with her own personal demons. As these two travel together, they start learning about each other and when they start sharing, it starts to lessen their burdens. While worlds apart in almost every aspect, will they take a chance on each other based on what they found or will they allow everything around them to influence their choices?

Kate Pearce has allowed Ben and Silver to take us along with them as they travel around Morgan Valley and LA while determining if love is really worth it. I enjoyed reading another installment in the Morgan Valley series and look forward to the next adventure with the Miller family.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books for this privilege.

This is the third book of the series, The Millers of Morgan Valley. The second Miller son Ben is struggling to figure out his future path. He always felt he’d live on his family ranch but things are a toss up now that his father signed over the ranch to his older brother. He knows he wants to be a rancher but he doesn’t want to be a tag along either. He needs a time out and that comes in the form of a trail ride with a famous movie star, Silver. Silver only knows one type of lifestyle which is one of indulgence, being coddled , and everything handed to her and handled for her. The trail ride was a eye opening experience for her especially when Ben treated her like a regular person and their was no staff to see to her every whim. These two had quite an adventure and definitely some steamy scenes. They later had to buckle down to overcome the negative attention the press brought upon them. Lots of family interference and manipulation occurred within their relationship. They both had to step up and get out of their comfort zone to find their happy medium. I really enjoyed the series. I’m a big fan of Pearce’s series and her last one, Morgan Ranch. There were some crossover characters and I always like getting snippets of where they are now. The Millers are a tight small town ranch ing family with good values and a supportive community. It’s a feel good book with soem hot scenes. I didn’t love the ending, it was satisfying but I was disappointed in the doubt that was still there but I guess these two are still navigating their way.

I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, I haven’t read a book by author Kate Pearce that I haven’t loved & this one is no different. Ben & Silver’s story was just what I was looking for. It is such a great fit in this series & had me not wanting to put it down. I loved the drama surrounding this book, it wasn’t the type were someone had been threatened or abused but the drama of life & career choices & status. Ben & Silver were so different they shouldn’t click but they did, the chemistry between them ignited instantly & never burned out. Ben is a rancher & a lead trail ride chaperone, Silver is a well known actress of tv & movies. The universe seems to have a sense of humour when Ben is charged with taking Silver on a 10 day trail ride. What starts out as tolerating the spoiled princess turns into well founded respect as Silver proves herself to be more than just a spoiled star. When the weather takes a turn for the worst & creates a very dangerous situation for them, Silver is put to the test to save Ben’s life. Secrets kept getting in the way as their relationship changed & the past never far from their present has put another divide in the relationship thanks to Silver’s father. The one true surprise in this story was Ben’s father Jeff who I’ve never been fond of at all, turned out to be 100% behind Ben when he needed him. This story had many emotions running through it & that in itself made it a truly wonderful read. Definitely recommend. Thank you to the publishers & Net Galley for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.

I received this book as a ARC copy from NetGalley. This is another fabulous installment of the Miller series. Starring Ben Miller and Silver Meadows. I have to say I didn't like Silver at ALL in the beginning. She was a spoiled star that expected everyone to do everything for her. Ben was may more patient than anyone could ever be with a spoiled celebrity. The chemistry with the two is off the charts and while they both have demons to slay somewhere along the line, they find a balance to make it work. Love Kate Pearce!
