Another quick read from the Wilde Ways series, and Cole Vincent gets his happily ever after with Evangeline. A dangerous situation brings them together so do the instant sparks of attraction. This truly is an instant and fiery passion that took a break and came back just as instantaneously.

I love Cynthia Eden and her books, and Counting On Cole for me seemed to be too fast paced with building a relationship between Cole and Evie and to their happy ending.

This one was good; they knew each other in the past and he never forgot her. That history added to the tension between the two main characters and the conflict that added to the passion and interactions between the two main characters.  The villain was a surprise, and there are more than one villain in this one, so when you think the story is coming to a close, surprise, there is more to come.  I liked a character trait that Cole has that you don't expect from him to have, no spoilers here, sorry, which added more dimension to him.  Overall all, I enjoyed this story, it was sweet, romantic, second-chance type romance with plenty of action and passion.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to leave an honest review. I have read most all of this series except maybe one or two. I really enjoy Cynthia Eden's books and her writing style. This series is definitely romantic suspense which I enjoy since I like my romance to have a pretty good plot to it than just your normal rom com.

This book follows Cole, who is ex-military and mercenary, and Evie, a choreographer in New York. Evie first met Cole when she was kidnapped while out in LA and her brother hired him to get her back. At that time, Cole was a mercenary for hire but almost instantly fell for Evie. Once the job was complete however, he had to leave as per his contract. Fast forward two years later and Evie is in danger again. Cole is once again hired to protect her but all bets are off this time. He isn't leaving Evie ever if he has a say in it. There is a lot of suspicion as to who is after Evie this time and even from 2 years ago since the kidnappers were never caught. So now it is a matter of finding them before Evie can be hurt again.

Lots of twists and turns that keep you entertained. I would say my only complaint is that Cole is absolutely obsessed with Evie. It is a little extreme. This seems to be a common theme throughout the whole series with the heroes/heroines in the books.

Overall I'd recommend. Some good humor thrown in and a fast read.

Romantic suspense at its best. The characters are great. Cole is my favorite hero in this series. Evie wasn't what I expected from the blurb. I didn't think I would like her, but I was wrong. The chemistry is hot, the romance sexy. The mystery is intense, full of action and tension. You will get sucked into the story. I couldn't put it down and read straight through. Definitely a must read.

Counting On Cole is my new favourite from Cynthia Eden. HANDS. DOWN. And it jumps leaps and bounds over a few other books o become a favourite read of 2020. The exquisite writing, the flawed yet relatable characters and the beautiful second chance love story is what makes Counting On Cole an unforgettable read for me!! It has delicious sexual tension, mind blowing sexy and sweet moments, is drama filled and has fantastic action too. It is always a entertaining read from Cynthia Eden. Her hero’s are great guys even though most feel they are flawed and the heroine always brings them to their knees and make them do everything to keep them safe. An added bonus for me is running into characters from previous stories. Cole and Evangeline have sex appeal and chemistry. And when things explode, hold on!! A spectacular read. Bring on the next book please, need to get my hands on it right now!! Happy reading everyone!!

Counting on Cole was a rollercoaster ride of emotions and danger. We have suspense, secrets, lies, humor, and passion. You can feel the emotions just sizzle off the page as you read.

Cole Vincent works for Wilde Security after being a mercenary once he retired from Delta Force. Cole was hired by Evie’s brother to rescue her after being kidnapped two years prior. The whole scheme had to do with her step-brother and step-father she just got caught in the middle, or so was originally believed.

After less than a week together, Cole knew that he could not live without her, but he was forced to walk away believing that he was not good enough. Cole kept an eye on her over the last two years both to make sure she was ok and to be in her presence even if it was from a distance.

When her brother thinks that her life is in danger again he seeks out Cole, because he knows that Cole will do whatever is necessary to keep Evie safe. Evie’s life is threatened a couple of times whether by kidnapping or going to save her brother. I never know what to expect when I am reading a Cynthia Eden book. I did not expect the twists and turns of who was involved in trying to bring down her brother, but also who tried to kill Evie. All this started because Evie’s brother’s girlfriend was jealous of Evie and thought that she deserved everything that the family had. You definitely never know when the crazy ex-girlfriend is going to try to ruin someone’s life.

I have no idea how Cynthia does it, but she always writes original stories for all of her characters and she draws you in making you feel like you’re there with them. I am always looking forward to being drawn into the worlds that she creates, whether we go on a rollercoaster ride, deep into dark territory with a serial killer, or fun with shifter romantic suspense. I can never wait to read the next book, and in the case of this series I am looking forward to seeing Chase fall as hard as he has watched everyone else and made fun of them. I can’t wait to see how much he gets ribbed by the other guys. And I hope they return all the “Huh” replies he always gives them.

I love this series and this book is not exception, highly recommend can't wait to read from this author.

I started this series a few books ago and I continue to be impressed with the characters and the story lines. I really enjoy the balance between the romance/love story aspect of the book and the mystery/suspense/drama aspects of the book that keeps me on my toes.

Counting on Cole is about Evie and Cole. Cole rescued Evie when she was kidnapped and they had a brief romance. Upon realizing Cole wanted her back, Cole tried to go back for Evie but her stepbrother prevented him from seeing her until her life was in danger again and her stepbrother enlisted Cole's help to ensure her safety.

I felt like this book had a lot of moving parts and Evie's brother was a tricky character because his motives throughout the book weren't always clear. I really liked Evie and Cole together and I overall found the story to be very enjoyable. I can't wait to read more from this author.

4.25 stars--COUNTING ON COLE is the eight instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult WILDE WAYS erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Wilde Ways Security. This is former Delta Force soldier Cole Vincent, and choreographer Evangeline ‘Evie’ Lake’s story line. COUNTING ON COLE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Cole and Evie) COUNTING ON COLE follows the rekindling relationship between is former Delta Force soldier Cole Vincent, and choreographer Evangeline ‘Evie’ Lake. Approximately two and half years earlier, Cole Vincent was hired by Evie’s step-brother Harrison when the woman in question was abducted and held for ransom. Evie Lake fell in love with Cole Vincent but upon her return home, Cole disappeared without a trace. Fast forward to present day wherein Cole is once again hired by Evie’s brother when threats against our heroine’s life become dangerous and real. With the reappearance of Cole Vincent, Evie struggles with long buried emotions when Cole promises he will never run again. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Evie and Cole, as Cole and the team at Wilde Ways battle an unknown enemy but a enemy that is coming from several different angles.

Evie Lake has never stopped loving Cole Vincent but struggles in the face of betrayal and loss. Having disappeared immediately upon their return, Cole remained in the background while Evie went on with her life. Cole Vincent never forgot about the woman that stole his heart but our hero was forced to walk way by threats of another nature.

The relationship between Evie and Cole is one of second chances; a spirited, intense and rekindling romance between two people pulled apart by distance and time. The $ex scenes are passionate erotic and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Evie’s best friend,Leo and her brother Harrison; Broadway director Robert Demakis; producer Stephen Lowe, and artist/Harrison’s ex girlfriend Gia Eastman. We are re-introduced to several agents at Wilde Ways Security : James ‘Ghost’ Smith, Chase Durant, and Eric Wilde.

COUNTING ON COLE is a fast paced, energetic and engaging story line. The characters are dynamic and spirited; the romance is tender, provocative and captivating. COUNTING ON COLE is another welcome addition to Cynthia Eden’s WILDE WAYS romantic, suspense series.

I've been waiting for Cole’s book for a while now. I liked him when we met him, and I like who he’s become.

Evie was kidnapped 2 years ago, and Cole at the time was a mercenary who put a team together and got her out. They fell in love, but he knew she wasn’t going to want someone like him in her life. After an unforgettable night, he delivered her back to her brother, safe and sound. But he never found the kidnappers.

Evie has spent the past 2 years trying to forget the kidnapping and Cole. She’s also spent the past 2 years becoming proficient in self defense. I like how she took her life into her own hands afterwards. Not so much refusing to be afraid, but rather doing everything she could to mitigate that fear.

Cole was brought in to Wilde in I think Ben’s book (so book #3 in this series Before Ben). He’s spend the past couple years trying to become someone better, someone Evie would be proud of. But he knows that the stains on his soul will never wash clean. When Erik Wilde offers him the case to act as Evie’s bodyguard, Erik isn’t thrilled. The last time someone requested certain agents by name, it was a set-up. So he cautiously let’s Cole know that Evie’s brother wants him. Cole knows the second he hears her name that he’s going. He knows no one else will take care of her like he will.

But 2 years is a lot of time for Evie to think about how after an incredible night, he just vanished. And that’s a lot of time for anger to build. I love how when she sees him at her door she shuts it in his face. When she realizes he isn’t going anywhere she allows him to tag along, since she knows he’d just follow anyway, besides, she’s almost kidnapped once again. She may still be mad at him, but she’s not stupid. She knows he’ll protect her. What she doesn’t know, is that he came back to get her after he ghosted her 2 years ago. He kept in contact with her brother the whole time, but Evie never knew. Her brother never told her.

One thing that I find interesting is that Cole usually had a sense of humor, but while he’s near Evie, he’s a big growly crankypants. She isn’t safe, she isn’t his (or at least he doesn’t know she is yet) , and it’s stressing him out. Hence all the growling and grumping. But he makes her cinnamon rolls, guys! He’s so adorable when she comes out for breakfast. I loved that scene, and I really really loved the paintings (no spoilers!).

I love second chances books, and this one worked well for me. I can’t wait to see what the next Wilde Ways book holds!

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of Counting on Cole by Cynthia Eden that I read and reviewed.
This book was pretty good. If you are not into books that are contain adult language and hot sex this is not for you but if you are okay with that I would tell you to give it a try. This couple was definitely hot. The mystery was also interesting so that added to the book as well. Overall, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it.
I am giving Counting On Cole four out of five stars.

Counting On Cole by Cynthia Eden is book 8 in the Wilde Ways Series. This is the story of Evangeline 'Evie' Lake and Cole Vincent. I have read the previous books which added to my enjoyment of this one, but I did feel you could make it a standalone book if you wish to. Evangeline abut 2 years ago was kidnapped and help for ransom but she was saved by Cole who was a mercenary for hire. They had close contact together for a few days that was enough for both of them to grow strong feelings for the other but Cole felt that he wasn't the one for Evangeline so he dropped her back home and left. This broke Evangeline heart and still to this day leaves a hurt there. When she is almost kidnapped again her brother calls in the only man that can and will keep her safe...Cole. Of course Evangeline wants no part of him, but Cole isn't giving up his chance to keep her safe. Really enjoyed their story and I hope to read more from this author soon!

COUNTING ON COLE is the eighth book in Cynthia Eden’s always amazing “Wilde Ways” series. This is a good book for readers who enjoy the “second chance” romance trope. For Wilde agent Cole Vincent, Evangeline “Evie” Lake is “the one that got away”. A few years ago, he rescued her after she was abducted. Instead of the Hollywood action flick happy ending, they were separated until now. History seems to be repeating itself when Evie is being threatened again. Once again, it’s Cole to the rescue. This time Cole is more determined to hold unto Evie. Two things I really like about this book that separate it from other stories with similar themes, is Cole’s attitude – which is an intriguing mix of humility, strength, and sexiness, and the way Evie has taken steps in the past few years to learn self-defense in order to protect herself.

Although Cynthia Eden’s “Wilde Ways” books are known for being very explosive and action-packed, there are a lot of elements that are typical of a classic mystery. Questions abound for the good guys to answer in this book. Are the bad guys threatening Evie this time around also the same people behind the abduction last time? Why is the focus on Evie? Does this have anything to do with the tragic death of her parents years ago? Is one of the people who surround her on a daily basis an enemy hiding in plain sight? Cynthia Eden convincingly paints just about anybody in this story as a plausible villain. I had my suspicions about who the baddie was, but I turned out to be wrong. Through everything, Cole is constant in his support and adoration for Evie. Cynthia Eden always gets the sensual tension and eroticism just right in her books and COUNTING ON COLE is no exception.

COUNTING ON COLE is an exhilarating mystery and sensual second-chance-at love story. I loved Cole’s partner Chase, as well as the additional badass backup provided by James “Ghost” Smith. The way each Wilde agent supports each other is fab and another reason I enjoy these books so much. The good guys provide a heady dose of testosterone but I’m super excited to read Chase’s story next!

Two years ago, Cole was hired by Evie's step-brother to rescue her from kidnappers who terrorized her. She and Cole formed a connection that turned into love but Cole, a mercenary, knew he wasn't good enough for Evie so he left. Now, new attempts have been made on her life, and Cole is back but Evie wants nothing to do with him. He broke her heart and she won't forgive him. Everyone is a suspect since her step-brother is rich and has a lot of enemies. They never caught the kidnappers from last time and this time Cole isn't going to stop till he does. Cole never stopped loving Evie and he's going to protect her no matter what. Twists and turns keep the reader on edge until the mystery is solved. Recommended.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I have been following this series and am always excited when a new book comes out! I was especially thrilled that Ghost keeps making an appearance in these books and that Chase will finally get his own book. Can't wait to find out more about Chase and his "huh" is just too much.

There is just non-stop action as Wilde guys and Cole try to figure out who is behind Evie's kidnapping from two years ago and the recent attempts. The book has some twists and turns and when all is revealed it is kind of surprising!

I loved that Evie made Cole work for a second chance and didn't just get right back with him. Yeah, as things unfold, he tried several times and was blocked and Evie had no idea that he kept trying and was not over her by any means!

We learn quite a bit more about Cole as the story progresses and some parts that Cole was reluctant to have Evie learn about his dark past and parts that show what a great guy he really is.

As with most Cynthia Eden books, I loved this story. Cole met his match with feisty Evie who took what she wanted and made no apologies for wanting it. She was both sweet and direct. Cole messed up years ago with Evie, and all he wanted to do was fix it and earn her love while keeping her safe. Evie doesn't want to believe she is in danger, but there are quite a few suspects with quite a few reasons to harm her.

The inner dialogue for both Cole and Evie was perfect and entertaining. I especially liked Cole's thoughts at the beginning of each chapter. The story moved along quickly, and Cole's partner, Chase, kept me laughing. This was another sexy suspenseful read by Cynthia Eden.

Net Galley provided an ARC which I voluntarily reviewed.
