This book offers a happy nod to The Holiday! This is the story of three best friends, Chloe, Lucy, and Jules who decide to shake things up at Christmas and swap homes and families. And, in the way of The Holiday, each of the girls falls for an equally charming man at their destination.

Of course, drama ensues, and the three stories intermingle through telephone calls between the friends. Charming and sweet, this was a wonderful escape, as the author does a fantastic job depicting the settings in each of the locales.

Sandy Barker does it again with another charming romance.

The Christmas Swap is a delightful Christmas romance, and I’m so glad I got a chance to read it through the One More Chapter Read Along.

If you loved the movie The Holiday, this one is for you. Three friends (from the US, England, and Australia) decide to swap Christmases. Of course, they’re all single, and of course, they all meet attractive men.⁣

I know a romance is good when despite the predictability inherent in the genre, I want to keep reading. I loved the descriptions of each character’s Christmas, both the setting and the traditions they participated in. I also loved all the ( mostly closed door) relationships. The chemistry between each couple was perfect, though Lucy was by far my favorite. I do wish the tension had been prolonged a little bit.

Thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for a copy of this book!

I love this book! It’s a takeoff on the movie “The Holiday“, where people swap houses for the Christmas holiday. In this case, three lifelong friends swap Christmases. They all live in different countries, and have different family lives. It’s a great look at Christmas in other places, and also a sweet romance. I highly recommend this one, it’s the perfect Christmas story. 5 stars.

Thanks to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When they were 11 Jules, Lucy and Chloe met on holiday. They became firm friends and kept in touch over the years even though they are on 3 different continents.

20 years later they are talking about Christmas in their families and they discover they want a white Christmas or a hot Christmas or an English Christmas and one of the others has that every year so they swap.

This is a lovely story of 3 friends who love each other dearly and still squabble. It’s a of friendship, love and discovery. There are some far fetched elements like why would you not know what your best friend brother or best friend looks like? Yes you live in different countries but you’ve been friends for 20 years? And three instances of instalove. It is acknowledged by the girls saying it’s too soon to feel this way but still.

I did enjoy this book and read it in only 2 days it’s a lovely Christmas story of 3 friends having a lovely Christmas with snow and sun and rain. A feel good festive tale I will check out this author in the future

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy of this to review.

The Christmas Swap by Sandy Barker was a cute and romantic book, and also perfect for the Holidays! Loved the three storylines, which were happening in three different places: America, Australia and England! It made me want to travel and see the world! Chloe, Jules and Lucy were all different but somewhat likeable and relatable. I really rooted for Lucy's relationship the most but it didn't quite get the ending I was hoping for. Anyway, I recommend this book if you love Christmas and romance! Thank you NetGalley for the free ebook copy in exchange of an honest review.

4.5 stars
Well this is the first book by the author that i have ready, but what a great book. This was the perfect Christmas/Festive read for me, think The Holiday movie in book form, but with three friends.
Chloe, Jules and Lucy meet as kids, but live in different places around the world, each fancies something different for Christmas so they decide to all switch places.
I really enjoyed how each character experienced a new place, we visiting Melbourne, Colorado and Oxfordshire and all were written so well that I could picture each place so well.
I enjoyed the romance aspect of each separate story as we switch POV between the girls, but i did want to get to know each of the characters a bit better, I felt that I needed a bit of extra time with each of the characters and would definitely love a sequel.

I love a Christmas read and the Christmas Swap is just the perfect light read to get you into the spirit of Christmas.
Three friends, who live on three different continents are not looking forward to Christmas. They want something different, something new. On describing what they are looking for they come up with the idea of swapping Christmasses and literally seeing how the other half lives.
The book tells the tale of Chloe, Jules and Lucy and their new Christmasses living each other's lives in a small English village, a snowy mountain resport in America and hot sunny Australia. It is funny and poignant and gallops along bringing the Christmas spirit with it. Each woman not only finds what she is looking for, but also more about themselves.
Just a great Christmas read, I can highly recommend it.

It’s that time of year (especially so in 2020) to prepare for Christmas and lose yourself in a little romance. The Christmas Swap is just the answer with its fun, feel good Christmas romance to get you in the mood. With family and friends, love and laughter, sun or snow and three great couples it is sure to fill your festive bucket.

‘When she had proposed the Christmas swap back in July, all Chloe had wanted was a traditional English Christmas. She had no way of knowing then how much the hamlet of Penham would come to mean to her in just a few short days, or how much an English Christmas would feed her soul.’

If you enjoyed the film, The Holiday, then you will appreciate this book. Three friends from around the globe deciding to swap Christmas experiences. Jules wanting to escape the chill of a Colorado winter, Lucy looking for such snow and Chloe seeking a more traditional English fair. Throw in three SNAGs (sensitive new age guy) leading men and you get three sweet romances for the price of one.

‘They stared at each other awkwardly, like they were in a Jane Austen novel, or something. Any moment now, Archer would ask if she wanted to take a turn around the drawing room.’

A little more depth is provided through a focus on different cultures and cuisine for the festive season. I so enjoyed partaking in three different Christmas celebrations and all the yummy foods on offer. Each girl also finds herself on a journey of self discovery, so despite the insta love they do grow as individuals. This is what I sign up for - sweet romance, minimal angst and a whole lot of lovin’.

‘It was a rare moment for Jules, being totally unguarded, and she could almost feel herself sloughing off the layers of her staid existence.’

So if you are looking for a cosy Christmas read, look no further. What better way to prepare for a Covid Christmas than with some excellent armchair travel - choose your own adventure - Melbourne, Colorado or Oxfordshire - and while away the hours with a smile on your dial.

‘She could never have known how much her life would change because of her Christmas swap with the girls.’

*I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley, all opinions are always my own!*

This book was exactly what I was looking for to start off the holiday season! 3 lifelong friends who live in different countries deciding to swap locations for Christmas, and the perfect men fall into their paths? Sign me up! The writing was charming, the characters were realistically flawed but you always rooted for them, and the romances were sweet but not steamy. If you like the movie "The Holiday" (which is referenced frequently), you will definitely enjoy this book!

This was one of my most anticipated books of the season. I was so excited to read about these three friends who swap homes for Christmas and see how they celebrate in their “new homes.” Unfortunately, this fell a little flat for me. I would have liked there to have been a little more backstory at the beginning when they first met. And then when we read about them after they’ve swapped homes for Christmas, I felt like the storylines were way too similar. I would have liked to have had, and hoped for, different and distinct storylines for each of the girls. I found myself getting a little bored because of this. I loved the concept of the book but not the follow through.

This is everything I had hoped it would be and more! So cute and entertaining! I loved it so much. Would definitely purchase as a gift for a friend.

What an unusual, enjoyable and compelling story. I was hooked since the first pages and I loved this story that made me travel to new places and live three different Christmas.
Excellent character and plot development, good storytelling and a tightly knitted plot.
It's strongly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Ever wondered what The Holiday would've been like, if there were 3 instead of 2 women swapping homes for Christmas? Well - you don't have to anymore, because that's exactly what The Christmas Swap offers.
From a sunny Australian Christmas, to an unexpected celebrity encounter, and of course: the classic "best friend's brother"... This book really has a romance for everyone. And what's even better? Whether you prefer "instalove", a slow(er) burn, or something in between, Lucy, Chloe and Jules' experiences will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Even as they're being grumpy, homesick, and of course: falling head over heels... To get to see these friends pull each other through it all? Kind of the stuff perfect Christmas stories are made of!
Although you might be in serious danger of wanting to swap houses yourself for the holidays - I certainly had to fight that urge...

MY REVIEW 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The Christmas Swap by Sandy Barker.

Christmassy, delightful, engaging, easy-read.

What a delightful time I had reading this book. I even had some lovely dreams after falling asleep half-way through this book! Wow, talk about a book glow!

I really enjoyed seeing the different Christmas traditions in the 3 different countries; Australia, England & America. As someone from Australia I can say that Christmas is certainly hot, although I don’t dress like the characters did in the book (but I think it’s a good idea) and we have had both cold meats & prawns (shrimp) and a traditional full hot English dinner. We learn about food, activities, Christmas traditions and Christmas trees & ornaments from different parts of the world. I found this similar to my expectations but with some interesting add-ons.

As the couples got together, I did have to check on my ebook what percentage I was at - 58%, as I was wondering what would come next that would keep my attention. I am relieved and excited to say I enjoyed the second half of the book as much as the first. There were bumps in the road for our characters but none that dragged me down and out of the Christmas spirit.

Synopsis from the publisher, as they do it best. -
Will all three women have their Christmas wishes come true?
Christmas is coming and best friends Chloe, Jules, and Lucy are needing change… so swapping homes for the holidays could be the perfect present for all of them!
Australian Chloe spends her Christmas in a sleepy village in Oxfordshire, England. She is totally star-struck when she discovers who lives across the road.
Lucy, who has jetted off to snowy Colorado for her dream-come-true white Christmas, is taken into the fold of Jules’s loud and brash family, discovering more about herself in a few short days than she has in years.
And Jules leaves the cold climes of Colorado to spend her Christmas on a beach with Chloe’s friends in Melbourne, finding that time away is just what she needed.
The only thing better than one Christmas romance is three, and this wonderful festive novel is perfect for fans of Sarah Morgan, Holly Martin and Karen Swan.

I highly recommend this book for those who feel like curling up for some Christmas cheer without reading about unnecessary drama. And for those who want to finish a story with a smile on their face and a contented feeling in their bones.

The Christmas swap is a lighthearted RomCom following three friends on different continents.

I enjoyed the overall plot and found it a good escape from life, it was cheesy and predictable and often down right unbelievable but sometimes that’s just what you need from a book.

A fun feel good festive Christmas swap. Three lovely romances for the price of one. Love spending time with these three ladies in these three gorgeous locations. Also loved getting to know the three men they all get involved with-seriously Will, Matt, and Archer were three of the greatest guys ever. The chemistry was instant, the angst was minimal, and the romance was sweet. Admittedly I enjoyed Chloe and Lucy‘s stories a tiny bit more than Jules, probably because in California I’ve spent many a hot Christmas. Love how the book highlighted the different cultures and food when it comes to celebrating Christmas in these three locations. Snowboarding, winetasting, fair planning. Sun, snow, rain. Christmas cake, hot chocolate, shrimp. Three friends... three men... three Christmases... one great book!

Thank you to Netgalley and One More Chapter for my gifted eARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review!

"The Christmas Swap" by Sandy Barker has been one of my favorite holiday reads of 2020, and will be beloved by Christmas lovers, and fans of the movie, "The Holiday".

The storyline begins with three young girls meeting on seperate family vacations, each from various places across the globe! The three connect to form a lifelong friendship, and the fun begins as we fast forward to their early adulthood! Each of the three women isn't particularly thrilled for another typical Christmas, and they decide to trade places with each other. They each fly out to their friend's homes for the holidays, and spend their days connecting with their friends' families, friends, and hometowns.

With having three different characters, places, and potential love interests to connect with, the fun is most definitely threefold! I devoured the book in almost one sitting, because I couldn't wait to catch up on each character and find out how their holidays would end. Definitely have been recommending to all of my friends, and will be re-reading each holiday season.

This year (2020) has been overall hard on everyone and while I usually don’t read a lot of Christmas-y books, I decided to decorate early and to inundate myself in all things Christmas because...why not?

And I’ve literally started two Christmas books that I’ve immediately put down because I didn’t love, and this one, I couldn’t put down for one minute!

It’s the perfect Christmas book— romance, family, and friends!

I LOVED it!

Three best friends decide that they are going to pull “The Holiday” movie and trade places for Christmas this year, and I loved every single story line!!

This book was a perfect fun read, just like my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies, and a total 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!
