Jules, Lucy, and Chloe meet in the kids' club on a family vacation in their teens and stay friends into adulthood despite the long distance. Now 33, they decide to swap Christmases.

Londoner Lucy travels to the US to spend Christmas with Jules' family in a Colorado cabin. When Jules' brother Will picks her up from the airport, it's lust at first sight.

Chloe leaves her Australian "orphan's Christmas" with friends for a traditional English Christmas with Lucy's parents. Upon arrival, she meets a very attractive and very famous neighbor.

Jules leaves freezing Colorado for the sunny shores of Australia. When she arrives for "orphan's Christmas," she instantly feels drawn to dark and handsome Matt.

All three women seem to have magically found Mr. Right, but will they be able to leave him behind when their holiday is over? And more importantly, how will this affect their friendships with each other?

This novel is a feel-good story about friendships, relationships, and the joy that Christmas brings.

Recommended for fans of Christmas movies like The Holiday and Love, Actually.

This was without a doubt the perfect book to kick off the Christmas season! It was charming, cozy, and so much more. This book follows the "May Ladies" who decide to swap places for Christmas with Lucy heading to Colorado, Chloe on her way to England, and Jules in Australia. If you are looking for the perfect Chick Lit romance to read for Christmas this is the book for you!

My only complaint about the book is that it ended too soon, and I would love a sequel to see what is next for the May Ladies.

Thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for the Advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Wow, what a global Christmas adventure!
Three best friends, since childhood, Lucy who lives in a sleepy village in Oxfordshire, Jules in Snowy Colorado and Chloe in Australia, decide to swap their homes and friends for Christmas.
Let the adventures begin
They meet each other’s friends and experience Christmas in very different ways, finding fun and romance on the way, which culminates in a fabulous New Year!
This gave a real taste of how Christmas is celebrated and how everyone affects others.

At a holiday resort kids club, Jules, Chloe and Lucy meet ages 11. Twenty two years later, discussing their perfect Xmas it seems that Jules needs to leave the cold of Colorado and stay at Chloe’s in a warm Australia. Chloe wants the traditional Xmas in England at Lucy’s and Lucy wants the American cold and stays at Jules. With all three ladies on embarking on very different Xmas times will it all go smoothly and what will happen with these new men in their lives!
Ah this was such a lovely festive read. Full of love and giggles and the festive feels!
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

If you are looking for a light, easy read to get you into the Christmas spirit, and even better if The Holiday is one of your favourite Christmas films, then you will certainly enjoy this! Three women, from the UK, US and Australia, met on holiday as children and have been firm friends ever since. They decide to swap Christmases and spend the holiday with each other's friends and families.

We get to share in three very different Christmases - the English countryside, snowy Colorado and Melbourne, Australia - and share the women's stories as they all form new romances. Is it all a little neat - yes! Is it all a little cliched - yes! But it sweeps you along, warms your heart and the author does a good job of combining the three storylines. The perfect holiday read to curl up with for a few hours!

“I just want a normal, traditional Christmas. That’s not too much to ask, is it?”

You’re telling me! Sandy Barker has hit the nail right on the head with this well-timed Christmas treat. Imagine all your favourite Christmas rom coms rolled into one. That’s The Christmas Swap in a nutshell.

Best friends Jules, Chloe and Lucy call themselves ‘The May Ladies’ (due to their Birthday’s all falling in May) and are on a video call one night/morning, each feeling in a bit of a funk and looking for a way to brighten up their Christmases. Inspiration strikes and taking inspiration from one of my favourite films The Holiday, they decided to swap homes for the festive season!

Chloe journeys from Australia to a quintessential Oxfordshire village, Lucy swaps English village for snow-covered Colorado, and Jules cranks up the heat swapping snow for sunshine in Melbourne. Queue not one, not two, but three Christmas romances! With Lucy’s boy-next-door who just happens to be a mega-famous film star, Jules’ hot brother, and Chloe’s winemaker friend.

This is a perfect read for the festive season, with a warmth radiating out from it in the form of lovely vivid descriptions “Shopfronts like gingerbread houses were trimmed neatly in colour lights, their windows spilling warm light onto the footpath in cone-shaped beams.”

Rather than just hinting at The Holiday I loved the fact that Chloe states they should “do like they did in The Holiday and swap Christmases!” right up front. If you’ve seen the film it gives you a comforting hint at how things might play out (later on one of the characters even compares himself to Miles from the film), but there are plenty of surprises along the way to still keep you entertained.

All three of the male love interests are kind-hearted characters you immediately warm to and root for, even if a little unsure of themselves. The fact that the three female leads are constantly communicating over video or phone calls makes it particularly relatable to 2020 Christmas!

Overall this is a funny, heart-warming and uplifting read with lovely messages about family, friendship, love and taking chances in life.

The Christmas Swap is the perfect romcom to get you in the holiday spirit. This book was filled with all my favorite holiday romance must haves! Best friends Lucy, Chloe and Jules decide to swap Christmas celebrations so each gets a different Christmas than usual. There's sunny Australian Christmas, traditional English Christmas in a cute village and white Christmas in Colorado. It included hi jinx, exotic destinations and true love. It was so fun to see how each of the May Ladies romances developed. As soon as I would finish a chapter I would be drawn into the next one by the next character's story.

Hmmm... This book is really difficult to review.

There were aspects that I really liked and then there were other things I just couldn't get over.

The narrative and writing aspects are really good and quality is equally engaging and interesting.

The story flows quickly and you are definitely engrossed.

But the thing I didn't like is the story of 3 women. :(
I would have loved it if it was a story of one friend and then read book 2 and 3 of the series that talk about friend 1 and 2.

I think every character was wonderful and it would have been amazing to read about the love journey of every girl.

'The Christmas Swap' by Sandy Barker is an enjoyable, feel good, festive Christmas tale, telling the story of three best friends who decide to swap lives for the holidays.
Lucy, Jules and Chloe have been the best of friends since meeting on holidays at the ago of 11 and forming the 'May Ladies' club. Now, some twenty odd years later, the three friends are all feeling at odds in their lives:
Lucy has been experiencing some troubles at work and is desperate to experience a true snowy 'white Christmas.'.
Jules is tired of the usual family madness at Christmas and is looking for a change.
And finally, there is Chloe, who is horrified to hear of her parents impending divorce for once would like to experience a traditional family Christmas. As a result, Lucy leaves tradition behind in Oxfordshire and heads to snowy Colorado for her dream-come-true white Christmas, Jules departs Colorado for sunny Melbourne and Chloe escapes from Melbourne for her idealised traditional British rural Christmas.
It takes all three women some time to settle into their new environment and each experiences moments where they miss home and realise that life at home is not as boring as they had previously thought. Each woman also slowly finds the advice and strength to face the problems in their lives.
Of course, this is a romance and it's set at Christmas, so there is plenty of love and potential heartbreak on the horizon but thankfully by New Year's eve, all looks as though it is set to be happily resolved.
There are clearly comparisons to the popular Christmas movie, 'The Holiday' where two women swap their live at Christmas and eventually find love and happiness. And as in that storyline, there is plenty to laugh at and lots of picture-perfect Christmas scenes in this story.
If you want to feel Christmassy, or are trying to set the Christmas scene, then 'The Christmas Swap' is absolutely ideal.
Thank you to Netgalley, Sandy Barker and One More Chapter for providing me with a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

It’s not my usual genre but I’ve searched out Christmas fiction this year for a little light relief and feelgood! I have enjoyed swap films like The Holiday and this certainly builds on that theme. Three friends from across the globe, who met while on holiday as children decide to swap their Christmas. Colorado, Melbourne and Oxfordshire are the backdrops for the three Christmases of Lucy, Jules and Chloe. I really enjoyed the travelogue part of the story - Melbourne in particular had me totally wowed and ready to book my next trip (COVID permitting). I also enjoyed reading about the various Christmas rituals and preparations - threading popcorn was intriguing. I think this book will be beloved by fans of Princess Diaries and the Holiday-type stories; warm stories where the girl gets the guy who is rich, famous, handsome and perfect, and who falls in love with the girl. This is romance three times over as each girl finds the guy almost as soon as she steps off the plane. I’m probably too old and cynical but for me this was just all just too perfect - for example Archer is not just a film star he is the ‘world’s biggest film star’. I found it hard to distinguish Chloe from Lucy and found the three way swap one too many. I think fans of escapist, dream come true romance will absolutely love this, just not me! With thanks to Netgalley and One More Chapter for a digital copy of this book.

What a fabulous story, full of romance, family love, excitement, adventure and above all friendships that began years ago but were still reliable.

I enjoyed the different settings, the different traditions and how easy it was to just follow them.

The story was a fantastic pick me up, something a lot of readers will be needing.

Definitely one for the Christmas season TBR pile, especially if you’re anything like me and have a soft spot for those hallmark Christmas movies.
I wanted a fuss free holiday romance to enjoy and this book not only delivered but delivered three of them! It’s love at first sight for Lucy, Jules and Chloe when they all swap Christmas plans with each other.
A great feel good “make you happy” type of read and a whole lot of Christmas!

LOVED this! A more up to date version of The Holiday, with three friends who swap in a round robin way. An excellent balance of fun, reality, and happy ever after.

Loved this fun and uplifting read. Thought that the 3 main characters were very believable as good friends and each of their individual story lines was a separate little treat. I thought the ending was a bit far fetched when 2 of the characters were going to move country to be with the men they had just met a couple of weeks ago, but I also thought it was a very sweet concept and one for the dreamers of true love and romance. I liked how at least one of the main characters didn't have a perfect plan worked out at the end.
I would recommend as a heart-warming, christmassy romance to uplift the reader!

Fun, but a bit like reading an updated version of the movie The Holiday - this book was nonetheless a good holiday romance. My only complaint is that each of the three stories had too much in common. And, there were few to no obstacles for the lovers to overcome to be together.

This book put me right in the holiday mood. My favourite holiday film is 'the holiday', so when I seen this book of course I had to read it! 3 best friends swap Christmases and of course fall in love! loved everything about this book.

I’m sorry I couldn’t get into this one. Therefore I don’t know how to rate it, either. Seems unfair when I dnf’ed it. It’s probably just me; been reading too much of romance lately. Will give it another try later.
