If You Were Night is a great book to soothe and lull children to sleep. The narration is poetic and evokes the feeling of wonder whilst capturing the nature of the night well. Plus, the illustrations add to the story-telling. The unique illustrations are befitting to the story and I love the concept of the paper cut-outs.

This is such an atmospheric read. I’d definitely recommend this book.

What a gorgeous and soothing new children's book! The stunning cut-paper illustrations are charming, and truly make this book a winner, and the sweet text is perfect for repeat read-alouds. I loved how the pictures showed the young child enjoying the creatures and activities of the night, allowing the character to be part of nature. If this book had been on my son's shelf when he was young, I'm sure it would have been a nightly favorite!

This is a beautifully written and illustrated picture book about the way the world feels at night. The book manages to catch the essence of the night perfectly, and through the drawings create this kind of mystical journey together with the animals. I think this would be perfect for children of any age to read, due to the way the whole book is written. Would be perfect for English class for example!

If You Were Night is a unique children's book that really peaked my interest.

If you were night, what would you do? That is the general idea and theme behind this book. It's poetic, beautifully written and has a kind of Tim Burton essence for how interesting it is. It has it's own style and I'm truly amazed.

I think six year olds and up would enjoy this. Since this book has a little more thought processing behind it, I wouldn't recommend very little readers picking this book up. I do think adults reading it with their children will appreciate this book. It has an adult feel to it as well, since it asks some questions about what you would do if you were night.

The paper cut pictures are AMAZING. Honestly, it really stood out and just blew my mind when I realized what the pictures were made of. I highly recommend picking it up just to see this unique illustration style!

Overall, I'm totally in love with this book! It is so cool and I'd highly recommend it. Even as an adult, seeing a book as unique as this is totally worth it.

Five out of five stars.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Kids Can Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a children's book. The art work is different but I didn't care for it for some reason. I found the story to be cute. They asked questions but I wonder if they are to open ended? Worth a read may not be one you read over and over. 3 stars
