This was a cute book. If you love snow or your young children do this is a cute book. The only issue I had with it was that young children that haven’t been taught about the stars yet, may end up thinking that stars are made of snow if you do not have that conversation with them because this book does day that all the stars are made of snow. It sounds cute but it may confuse little children.

I would give a review on this book but it is not showing in my kindle after it was downloaded. I imagine that this is an adorable story.

This one just fell a little short for me. I did like the simple picture style, but the text just wasn't what I expected. The word snow was used A LOT. It might work as a beginning reader since the child will for sure learn to spot the word snow.

The title, Snow Song, fits this beautiful, poetic book perfectly. This is a book full of descriptive words, metaphors and various verbs that allows the reader to experience snow in a different way. The book features a simple narrative and eye-catching, playful illustrations to show a young girl's fun on a snowy day. The children show expressions of fun and joy. The ending shows the night sky and compares the stars to the snowflakes. I really liked this book. The grandkids liked it, but talked more about the illustrations than the actual text. A nice book that would be useful in a classroom when teaching about descriptive language.

Now that we’re past Halloween, my little girl is SO read for snow and the holidays, so receiving this title to read and review was perfect timing for us! I was immediately obsessed with the gorgeous illustrations on every page, each image was just perfectly filled with tiny details that really enhanced the words on the page. Now my daughter is even more excited to play in the snow with her friends, just like in the book!

The word snow is repeated quite a lot. And I found that the rhythm and flow of the story was not there. I was getting bored reading it and my kid was losing interest. The illustrations were wonderful and the story itself was nice, but I just personally didn't like the flow.

I read this book with my 5 year old daughter. The story is about how a town changes magically to a snowy winter wonderland through a young girl’s eyes. Throughout her journey she meets new friends as they enjoy what the snow has to offer. The book has beautiful illustrations that captured my daughter’s interest. We especially loved the mixed ethnicities throughout the book. Through poetic verse the author has created an enchanting trip through one of nature’s creations.

A very lyrical children's book with few words and lots of beautiful illustrations.
The illustrations really portray the idea that snow swirls to the ground. Unlike rain it doesn't fall straight now, instead it is taken on a journey to the ground. All of the children are fairly dressed for their playtime in the snow; which as a Canadian I really appreciate. There is nothing like arguing with a toddler to put on their gloves and hat because it's cold outside and them telling you Elsa doesn't wear gloves (thank goodness Anna does)!
The words here are nice and easy to read, with a rhythmic verse and flow to them. However they are a bit too flakey (haha) for me. I like the idea of the snow being soft, pretty, and fun. But snow is also cold, hard, and dangerous. As someone who lives in a cold climate (where many people I know have frostbitten toes or fingers from their childhood) it is important that we avoid making snow too romanticized. By creating the illusion that it is all fun, soft and lovely to play in the snow we do children a disservice.

It's disappointing as this book is written by two Canadians (albeit both live in relatively warm areas of the country: Vancouver and Southern Ontario) who should really know better than to write a story for kids that doesn't mention putting on gloves, toques, jackets, etc. There should be a reminder to not stay wet from the snow (a common way kids get frostbite is their socks or mitts get wet from the snow, that dampness freezes and causes frostbite). And perhaps the last page should have been a mug of something hot (like chocolate or cider) to warm them up from their play time. Snow is super fun to play in; but like anything (ie: beach, lake, forest, etc.) you have to be aware of your surroundings and what dangers they might bring.
Some may consider me overly cautious given this book is relatively innocent. However I believe that these types of romantic musings about nature and weather are where children begin to learn the idea that there is nothing to be cautious of in situations.

What an incredible surprise. This book is not at all what I expected when I saw the cover. Dawn Lo warmly illustrates this book all about the wonder and magic of snow. A. K. Riley has a dreamy style of poetry. One that whisks you away to a magical land full of powder puff snow. The book is perfect to be read to babies and young children alike. The rich language filling their little souls with sweet dreams of frolicking play in the snow.

I read an advanced copy of Snow Song, by A. K. Riley. I loved this book. I loved the illustrations, and the authors words like poetry in motion. Almost wished it was snowing!

Wonderfully descriptive and lively language brings to life a day spent enjoying the snowy outdoors in "Snow Song" by A.K. Riley with pictures by Dawn Lo. Riley's sometimes rhyming text describes snow that curls, unfurls and swirls. She moves from day and the beginning of a snowfall through more swiftly falling snow then slows things down as evening approaches and skillfully likens moon and stars to snow. Dawn Lo's pictures are filled with movement and shimmer making the snow glisten and swirl across the page. She uses color masterfully to depict the many shades of snow and to bring life to children enjoying the wintry weather.

Children ages 3 through 7 will want to climb inside this book to live a snowy day Elegant poetry with mesmerizing illustrations. Brrrrrr........

I love that this book had a diverse range of characters. The cute illustrations make this a great snowy day story for little ones.

What a wonderful story celebrating winter! Written in poetic prose, this is a great read for young and old lovers of picture books. It is nice to see a lyrical book written without forced rhyming -- Snow Song's text could definitely standalone. The illustrations pull us in even deeper with a beautiful display of winter walks, playtime, and even snowfall at night.

I really enjoyed this story. The poem flowed well. The illustrations are beautiful and perfectly match the flow of the poem. I cannot wait to share this with the students in my classroom. 5/5.

A lyrical celebration of snow. The wonder of the first snow for a little girl and her friends. It will bring new words to your child's vocabulary along with the illustrations to make the snow come alive. It will bring the adults back to childhood.

I love the illustrations in this story, and I really appreciate that the children are from a variety of ethnicities and races. The verse style is fun for read alouds and repetition with students. There are a lot of opportunities for exposing children to new vocabulary and language throughout the book.

Aw, I miss winter!

The whole storybook is a little poem on how a little girl thinks about snow and how she enjoys when there's snow. It's such a cute book. The illustrations are subtle yet appealing. It's dreamy! It reminds me of Christmas so much.
