This is a perfect book to read today, as the weather outside is sunny and hot! My toddlers and I read this a few times already. The pictures are colorful and easy for the kids to understand. Thank you to NetGalley and Kids Can Press for an ebook ARC. This is my honest review.

What a sweet book this is! I love the prose and the illustrations. Young children will enjoy this book.

Snow Song features a simple (perhaps too simple) narrative and playful pictures to show a young girl's fun on a snowy day.

While I do think this book will have an audience, I personally found the writing to be terribly grating. If I have to read the word "snow" one more time, I might scream. (It's repeated so often that it runs the risk of losing meaning and sounding like a nonsense syllable.) There are some nice words used in the descriptions of the snow, but I just felt that that one noun was used far too much.

The pictures are fun and show lots of joy and exuberance. Kids will likely enjoy looking at them on their own.

Overall, this book wasn't a good match for me, but I can see it appealing to other readers.

Beautiful, magical and glowing! This poetic book about snow is a dream. I highly suggest people add it to their library. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital review copy.

This is an incredibly basic story that captures the "feeling" of snow and the magic and childlike wonder that comes with it. The illustrations are pretty and whimsical. However, there's nothing to the book. No substance. It would be an okay bedtime story for very young children (two to four-year-old age range) but older children will gain little from it.

Such a sweet children’s book about snow! The illustrations are adorable and hold your attention while not being over-stimulating. The writing itself is fun and whimsical. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am sure it will be a favorite of many children as well!

When I was in college my closest friend was from Florida.  She has never seen snow until she came to school in New England.  It was magical for her.

The feelings of magic and possibility are both beautifully conveyed in this title that shows the day of a child when it snows.  The illustrations are soft, sweet, delightful and engaging.  The text is a paean to the glories, beauty, poetry and fun of a snowy day.

This book will make a fine addition to a young child's library.  Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

This a cute story about a little girl enjoying a snowy day. The story is written as a poem with a nice rhyming scheme. However, it uses the word "snow" repeatedly and perhaps superfluously in my opinion. I enjoyed the story and would read it in an early preschool classroom. Personally, I feel that the illustrations are the highlight of book. They are beautiful and I would reread the book solely for the pictures.

Overall, I liked the story with the rhyme and lovely illustrations. Thank you NetGalley and Kids Can Press for providing me a free digital copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

I can only imagine the wonder and amazement that a kid feels when they see snow for the first time. This book captures that wonder very precisely and very astutely. The visuals created are breathtakingly brilliant and the accompanying words evoke just the right sense of liveliness.

A beautifully illustrated book to reminisce all the wonders and thrills of a Midwestern snow day as a child.

I liked the picturesque illustrations of winter wonderland and the sweet song of song. A fun book for children.

Snow Song by A. K. Riley is a sweetly drawn picture book about the joys of snow for little kids. It doesn't have so much a rhyming pattern as much as a repetition of the word "snow." It's a bit overdone to that extent, but I can see it holding the awe of smaller children under 5. I enjoy the illustrations and the sense of enjoyment in the story, just wish for a bit more with the text.

I requested and received an e-ARC of this book from NetGalley and Kids Can Press in exchange for my honest opinion.

This story was about snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow…. I found the repetitive use of the word snow to be overwhelming at times. I had requested this book because I love rhyming books and I love singing books, this missed the mark on both for me, but kids will probably still have fun with it as they love to repeat themselves.

What a delightful read! The right amount of words on a page for early readers and cute illustrations too! A joyful little book all around! Proper review coming. Thanks for the ARC! Everything that makes a great children’s story.

This was a cute little story about snow, however the illustrations weren't very exciting and I'm not sure this book would hold a child's attention. The rhyming was lovely, and it is a cute story that little children would enjoy.

A cute little picture book with little songs about friends playing in the snow. It was cute but the art was nothing special, and the songs sometimes were a bit lazy.

I thank Netgalley and Kids Can Press for the digital ARC

Name: Snow Song
Author: A K Riley, Down Lo
Genre: Children Fiction
Review:
Snow Song is a beautiful and enchanting poem of a girl who enjoys the wonderful world of snow. The art is soft and warm and makes us feel homely. The poetry is cute, but it feels that the word "snow" has been overused throughout the poem, and thus is rhyming. The poem can be considered a song for children with a good soft music.
Overall, I liked that artwork, but the poem didn't enthrall me.

I intentionally chose to read this one today, because it was so unbearably hot outside and in, and I am wishing for the cool days of winter already. It’s going to be a long summer. Anyway, this book is beautiful. I love everything about it, the rich descriptive language, the cute artwork, and the wonderfully easy pace of the snow day throughout the city. There’s plenty of literary devices throughout the pages of this icily poetic tale, and I am here for it! The earlier kids learn about these things, the more they can appreciate the beauty of language and strining words together in a pleasing manner.

It’s a simple story of the rediscovery of familiar places that become less familiar, and sometimes lots more fun, when covered in snow. It’s not out until October, appropriately, but it brought a smile to my face tonight and has me wishing for the crisp air of fall and hoping we get at least one good snow next winter!

Keep an eye out for this one in the fall. The flow of the language and the short, poetic lines make it a perfect choice for a bedtime story all winter long.

I would recommend Snow Song for children living in a country without snow or English second language learners. The repetitive use of the word snow was frustrating at times but could be used as a tool for children who aren't familiar with the word to pick up some new winter-related vocabulary.

I should also mention, the illustrations in this book were absolutely beautiful! The colors were eyecatching and a pleasure to look at.
