The best part of the book was the illustrations, they were beautiful. The writing did nothing for me. I understand that it was free verse writing but the use of the word snow so many times in a children's book was rather boring. I think for very young children it would be great.

I love snow, so I do think this book is awesome. I love the poetic flow of the words. My one critique is that the book cover mentions the little girl being new in town and making friends while playing in the snow. However, the fact that she's new and these are friends she is just meeting isn't easily portrayed in the story. I don't think it takes away from the story, but I'm not sure why it's mentioned in cover but not in the story.

A simple book for all the snow lovers out there. With simple rhymes and fun vocabulary words, this is sure to be a favorite. The drawings add to the fun.

Snow Song is a lyrical story in verse. I enjoyed the illustrations and story very much. It did feel very winter-y and the wonder that can be associated with snow. I do feel like some of the text was repetitive and might not be engaging. This story definitely did show a love for winter and snow, and I can appreciate that living up north.

The book "Snow Song" by A.K. Riley is a book all about the new snow falling and how it changes the world the children characters live in. The illustrations are beautiful and were the best part of the book! My five year old kids did note that the story was too repetitive, and said the word "Snow" over and over. They did not particularly enjoy the book, nor did I. I think it was a cute idea but not well executed.

Hmmm… A dreamy paean to snow – playing in it, walking through, letting it swirl around us – and, er, that's it. Pleasant, sure, but not something that grabbed me.

If you want to read book that give you a fuzzy feeling or a book that would help your kids to play out in the snow, this book is for you. The illustration it is soooo pretty. It is so cozy to be read a loud with the young ones during winter time, when it is snowing outside :D
When it comes to a story, I'd say there is no story line. It is filled with some short sentences and the word "snow". It is one of those books that is really focus on one thing.
But this book really brings my inner child out. If there is a snow right now, I'd jump out and play honestly.

A beautifully illustrated celebration of the magic of snow.

I particularly appreciated the use of free verse in this story - something more uncommon in picture books for this age range. The illustrations also add to the overall story, bringing more life and variation to the rather repetitive text.

All in all, a charming story with a strong winter atmosphere.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
