Romantic suspense/Second chance. Delvin and Ellie’s story has a 10 years gap. They were young and in love but something happened and he left her completely heartbroken. Once they met each other again…the relationship was full of angsts, push and pull, slow burn. Two broken hearts trying to mend past hurts and secrets. I like Saint, a mysterious tortured hero, and I am very much intrigued by his life. Ellie’s character maybe a little immature in this book. She made some hasty decision that almost ruined their relationship for me. I also like the plot twists. I did not realize this is part of a series and ended with a cliffhanger. I have a feeling the rest of the series will be twisty, suspenseful, full of surprise and a HEA.

This was a riveting story. Some of it, was pretty obvious of what was happening or about to happen, while there were a few mysteries that came off as a surprise and made the book have some unpredictable moments. The characters Ellie and Devlin were unique. I appreciated getting the details and thoughts on how their story had evolved and found out what had happened in the ten years since they abruptly ended.

There are still unanswered questions and plenty that still needs to be answered in this story. It ended with it seeming like everything was finished in a nice way and that these characters were in a good place. However, it also was foreshadowing that there was more mystery to come. I look forward to finding out what that is.

It’s New Year’s Eve and I just finished the year off having finished a stellar book. Devein and Ellie are electric together. Ellie is a kickass heroine that has lost everyone in her family. Devein is enigmatic and alpha as can be I devoured this book from cover to cover. I just loved it. The only thing that would have made the book better was if it was written in Devlin’s point of view too. I look forward to book two.

This is a super twisty suspenseful romance with lots of “WOW - did not see that coming” surprises throughout the story. Ellie is our headstrong heroine heading back to her hometown to interview a uberwealthy alpha philanthropist. She is an ex-cop who is now an investigative journalist – oh and she is also dead set on finding her uncle’s killer. Which may have her ending up in the sights of the mafia type organized crime guys.

Devlin Saint is our anti-hero and in typical J. Kenner style he is hot, loaded and obsessed with Ellie. He kind of comes off with a Damien Stark sort of aloofness. “You play with me, and you really will get burned. And this skin…..is far too beautiful to scorch.” Devlin doesn’t have much of a published past that Ellie can get info on for her profile. He is basically a mystery up until their first face to face. SO -- now, I can’t get into much on this story without any spoilers – but we do get some “what happens in Vegas” hotness to swoon over.

There is some dark stuff especially details arising out of the Human trafficking philanthropy Devlin heads up. The big bad guys are being taken out – not sure by whom and the ending is quite a doozy – but not a cliffhanger as such.

My Fallen Saint is a great read as a standalone and I would definitely recommend it. There are hints towards the next book in the series (My Beautiful Sin) that I will absolutely be reading! Maybe JK will answer some questions like is Roane or Brandy’s new guy baddies or goodies? I am thinking that one of them is not on the up and up – we will soon find out.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher Martin & Olive for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ellie Holmes is on a mission. Years ago, her uncle was murdered. As an investigative reporter, she is looking for answers. Heading home to interview Devlin Saint, a reclusive billionaire, philanthropist, justice fighter and a man with many secrets, her life becomes a series of twists and turns as secrets are revealed. Is she ready for the answers?
I really enjoyed this first book in the Fallen Saint series. Ellie is relentless in her search for the truth, while Devlin is a steel vault with his secrets. There are many twists and turns throughout this story. I couldn’t put the book down because I couldn’t wait to see what secret/truth would be revealed next. Be ready, this is a trilogy and not a stand-alone. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series to see what happens to Ellie and Devlin.

Kenner's books are all very angsty. Ellie Holmes lost her mother when she was just 4, not sure from what. Her father, the Chief of Police, was murdered when she was 13. Her uncle raised her form there, but he was murdered when she was 17. That night she turned to her older boyfriend, Alex Leto, for comfort, but after taking her virginity, he disappeared. She left Laguna Cortez, not looking back. Ten years later, she had gotten her degree in criminology, worked as a cop, but then got her MA in Journalism and became an investigative reporter, which brings her back to Laguna Cortez, when new evidence comes up that the man who confessed to murdering her uncle, was not the real killer. She is assigned by her editor to write a profile of the Devlin Saint Foundation and interview the founder and extremely private Devlin Saint. But something about him, reminds her of her Alex.

Secrets, mystery, danger, heartache and love confront her in Laguna Cortez.

I read an ARC provided by NetGalley.com, This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Gritty romantic suspense. Once you start reading this spine-tingling suspenseful, action packed and passionate story you won't want to stop nor could you. With a plot that kept on changing the whole way through and an awesome connection between Ellie and Devlin, J. Kenner has once again proved her writing skills with masterful story telling. Which has you coming back for more. Spectacular story of 2020!! What more could you ask for!! Happy reading everyone!!

4.25 stars--MY FALLEN SAINT is the first instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult FALLEN SAINT erotic, romantic, suspense series focusing on former police officer turned investigative journalist Ellie Holmes, and billionaire investor Devlin Saint.

Told from first person perspective (Ellie Holmes) MY FALLEN SAINT follows investigative journalist Ellie Holmes, ten years after the murder of her uncle Peter, a return home to Laguna Crotez that brings with it too many memories of the past, and of a loss that still hurts to present day. When the police reopen the investigation into her uncle’s murder, Ellie is hoping to uncover the truth, but what Ellie never expected was to come face to face with reclusive billionaire investor Devlin Saint, a man tied closely to Ellie’s past. What ensues is the building relationship between Ellie and Devlin, and the potential fall-out when the truth about the who, how and what of Devlin Saint is revealed.

The relationship between Ellie and Devlin begins acrimoniously as Devlin struggles to avoid Ellie and her investigative questions, questions that are now directed at our story line ‘hero’…Devlin’s philanthropic adventures help men, women and children who have been victims of human trafficking but Devlin knows more about Ellie’s past than he is willing to reveal, a revelation that will destroy the woman with whom he is falling in love. A business weekend in Vegas finds our couple crossing the proverbial line, a line that now places both of them in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Ellie’s best friend Brandy, and Detective Lamar Gage, as well as Devlin’s assistant Anna Lindstrom, and his friend / right hand man Ronan Thorne.

MY FALLEN SAINT is a story of betrayal and vengeance; secrets and lies; heart break, tragedy, power, pain and revelations-revelations I predicted from the very start. The premise is dramatic and intense; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are broken and tragic. MY FALLEN SAINT ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

I have to say this story was not at all what I was thinking. It is a roller coaster ride of emotional turmoil for Ellie and you feel her pain at the loss of her father, uncle, and Alex.
Now it is years later and she has followed in her father's footsteps, became a cop but found that the job wasn't really for her. She turned to the one job she has found that she loves, investigative journalism. When the chance came up to write a story on the Devlin Saint Foundation, Ellie jumped on the chance even though it would mean taking her back to where she grew up.
Devlin Saint has secrets he needs to keep. People would not want to keep him around if they knew all his secrets. When Ellis shows up, he wants her gone because she could expose him. They are tired up in the past that could destroy them both if anyone finds out.
I really enjoyed this story and loved the suspense and intrigue. I do wonder why it too Ellie so long to question who killed her uncle though. After all, she was a cop and a journalist and they are noisy by nature. Anyway, read this one and fall in love with Devlin Saint, I can't wait for the next book to see what happens with this couple.

HOME RUN!!!! this book is true JKenner style. I have NEVER read a book with this theme and I liked it! It has that perfect stark trilogy vibe but a new and refreshing tale. I want Saint more than anything as a male counterpart he is the essence of intrigue, badass, sexual, broody and just interesting! as this author does this book is the perfect length but you will go crazy needing the answers to the MANY different questions you have when you finish this book!

What an intriguing start to this series. I loved the characters, Devlin and Ellie were so easy to connect with, even with the mystery surrounding Devlin!! From the start I was hooked and needed all the story straight away, but this author is renowned for her story telling so I knew, just knew I’d be left with so many unanswered questions. There are so many characters at play throughout the book, and I was constantly wondering who’s good and who’s bad 😱 love love loved it and can’t wait for book two, role in January 2021!

I am a big fan of J. Kenner. My Fallen Saint is book one in the new series Fallen Saint. I have so many questions and I’m intrigued on what’s going to happen. But I trust J. Kenner and know she’s going to drop some bombs. So much mystery with Devlin and I can’t wait for more. Elle got on my nerves a bit, but I understood that everyone in her life has left her and she brings things on to herself. I need to know how Devlins mind works! I need his perspective please. I’m begging for it. These two have chemistry and sparks are flying. But like I just said I need in his head!! The cliffhanger is not a massive one, but it will leave you with a hmmm. I’m ready for the next one.

The first book in the Fallen Saint, My Fallen Saint is a second chance romance and so much more. Love, lies, secrets and steam, complex characters woven within a well delivered story made this an engaging read. It does end in a cliffhanger.

Teenage love and then he disappears. She is devastated and that colors her relationships even further as she goes on until she has to do an article on the Devlin Saint Foundation. He reminds her of her first love. She’s a danger junkie and he is dangerous. He has many many secrets and as an investigative journalist she wants to know what makes him tick. Great start to a trilogy of books.

My Fallen Saint by J. Kenner is the first book in her new Fallen Saint series and I am already addicted! Devlin Saint is everything he wants to be now. But he has his secrets. When Ellie Holmes comes int his life and may threaten everything he has worked for. He was charismatic, charming and a mystery. Ellie is strong and determined. Their journey in this book was not easy. I am excited for this next book!

Happy reading!

I haven't read J. Kenner in quite sometime, however I was intrigued with this new baby of hers. The male lead is quite charming, very sexy and dark. With just the right amount of swoon, in my opinion. Els is a strong independent female, which is the best kind of female. I love a strong FL. The story took me a bit to get into and then when I did I just had so many unanswered questions. Heres hoping the next one answers my questions quickly!

I really enjoyed this book: the cliffhanger is slightly annoying (in a good way) but didn’t make me want to throw my phone like others have. So that was nice. Excited for the next book! Hopefully don’t have to wait long for it. Great characters and a nice flowing and well written storyline. Pick it up!

I thought this was a good start to the new trilogy. Just intriguing enough, and the slight cliffhanger at the end didn't make me want to throw my kindle at the wall.

This was most definitely my favourite of J Kenner's for a while. Once I started I was completely hooked and devoured this one night whilst my hubby kept me awake with this snoring but for once with this beauty I didn't care!

I was on the edge of my seat with this one waiting to see how this would play out. The twists and turns were brilliant. I am hoping that this isn't the end for them and there are still some secrets to be revealed.
