Fantastic book with twists and turns aplenty, can't believe the way it ended & am now desperate for January!

Overall, not a bad story, I enjoyed the general storyline but did find the angsty push and pull a bit much. Still enjoyed it enough to read the next book, hoping the chemistry continues to build.

Ok I want answers like yesterday! So many twists and turns and now I need to know what's going on.
I found this quite a slow starter and would have loved a bit of Mr Saints pov to know where his head was at. Personally as well I would have liked to have read a bit more about Ellie and Alex's friendship and how it blossomed into more as it felt a bit too much like insta love in the start. However none of this put me off reading it as once I got invested I couldn't put it down. It really had me gripped as there was always something new going on. Roll on book 2!

Enjoyable romance about past relationships, secrets, and second chances. Ellie dreads returning to her home town but does so to interview the elusive Devlin Saint. What she finds is an unraveling of the past and a new future. Recommended.

4 1/2 Stars for this mystery romance!

Ellie fell in love with Alex when she was a teenager. She thought he loved her too, but he left her and never looked back. Ten years later she's a reporter and she's investigating her Uncle's death when they find out that the person who went to jail for it, wasn't the killer. Ellie is back in the town she grew up in and she is scheduled to interview the billionaire philanthropist Devlin Saint. When they meet, Ellie feels instantly drawn to him and no one has captured her attention like that since Alex. And even though Ellie can see the heat in Devlin's eyes when he looks at her, he keeps himself closed off. Will she be able to break his tuff exterior to find all the secrets he keeps within?

This book is told from Ellie's POV and there were times I really wanted to know what was going through Devlin's head. The book didn't really end in a cliff-hanger ... but Ellie's and Devlin's story isn't over by a long shot. I know that Devlin has many more secrets that he doesn't want revealed. I just loved Devlin even though he's controlling and secretive because I just feel that he really loves Ellie. And Ellie is a really strong woman and doesn't let anyone get away with pushing her around. This is a fantastic start to a new series that I can't wait to read!

I received an early copy courtesy of Martini & Olive through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

Wow, what a story that will pull at your heart string and make you wonder if the guy is the bad guy or not! In true J. Kenner fashion, she takes you on a ride of love, and add in some mystery and you're hooked from the first lines of the story! 5 stars for this one!
We meet Ellie, she's had a tough life to say the least. She's pretty much lost everything that's important to her, but she'll always have Alex right?
Devlin is a mysterious man, he does good for the world, but he feels he's not good enough for anything. When he see's Ellie, he'll stop at nothing to protect her from the danger she could put herself in.
I was hesitant at first reading this, but I quickly got absorbed into the story and couldn't put it down! Don't miss out on this great story, it's part of a 3 book series, I know you'll enjoy!

Not my first read by the author. She’s actually one of my first 5 author’s I read gosh many moons ago so to say I am very familiar with her writing is little to say. I am aware of her style and do enjoy both the suspense and BDSM kink style she does well.

I am not going to lie but this almost turned me off completely. It’s one thing for the heroine to have something with another random guy but just her being THAT type of woman, is a HUGE turn off for me. Sets the mood for me for the rest of the book and something I don’t look forward to because any ‘romantic’ relationship with the hero is tainted for me. Personal opinion so not saying someone doesn’t like that type of debacle at the beginning of the book. To say I was surprised it didn’t turn towards the ‘me cringing if they sleep with other people is an understatement. I was actually expecting it while the heroine is strong yes but to me at times overbearing, I mean fits perfect since she is an ex-cop turned reporter. But the heroine is definitely hard I will say that, stubborn and yet at the end of part one (YES THIS IS A CLIFFY) we see a very vulnerable side of her. The hero is two faced and no not in the way you’re thinking. I don’t want to give out anything since this is a mystery suspense Romance with a lot of Angst, i will say that. It’s catching and entertaining, I was a little put off at the beginning won’t lie, but throughout the book I was swept away from the suspense and mystery. Everything you think is ISN’T. p.s. the cliffy kind of was not a WOW to me, I went in forgetting it’s one and predicted the ending once I realized. Also we have to wait till January 2021 so like 4 years in reader world for part 2! Will be worth it because this book is a J. Kenner through and through!!

I enjoyed that Devlin & Ellie’s story was unlike anything I have read by J Kenner. I loved Devlin’s alpha side. Totally swoon worthy! I can’t wait for more in this series!

Ellie Holmes was in love and after their one night together, he left her a note, he was sorry and he was gone. Ellie had lost so much; her mother died and then her father and uncle were murdered. After several years on the force, Ellie is pursuing a career as a journalist. She planned on interviewing the elusive Devlin Saint, who has his own foundation. When she finally meets him, he is dynamic and reminds her of her first love, but he warns her to leave town…to stay away from him. She finds him exhilarating and dangerous, and his foundation’s work with abused children speaks to her. When he makes a final attempt to push her away, will she give up or finally give him what he wants? The story is not over for Ellie and Devlin. My first from this author and it just didn't do it for me. I am a sucker for a second chance romance but I wasn't all that invested in Ellie and Alex/Devlin's love story maybe because their affair from 10 years prior just wasn't presented well. We don't get enough detail from the past and that was sorely needed IMO.

Not to mention that Ellie acted like she was still 16 and although I understand the pent-up emotions that may fester for 10 years, it was no excuse for the way she continually confronted him. There just wasn't enough chemistry to make me care and it wasn't until the last 25 percent or so when things started to take a turn for the better.

With jaw-dropping secrets revealed, I began to understand more of Ellie's search into the why's of her uncle's death and yet it wasn't enough to save this story for me. Alex is basically a good guy born into a bad situation and I did like him for the most part. But Ellie was just too immature for my tastes. Oh, and her constant mention of her Shelby almost drove me insane. Just say your CAR for goodness sakes!!!

This is definitely a case of it's me, not you, as I see many loving this book. I will not continue with the series as the execution of what could have been a very interesting and intriguing read simply fell flat and I just don't care what will happen next.

2.5 stars.

It's been a long time since I read a J. Kenner book but I remember that I really enjoyed them last time, so figured this spinoff would be another great series. The first half of the book was probably a 5 star read for me. The second half, a 3 star read. The book was entirely predictable to me. I'd say within the first 10%, I had already guessed all the 'secrets' revealed later on in the book. So unfortunately, it didn't keep me on edge, but I was still eager to finish and see what happens next. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger, but has a HFN. I have my guesses about who sent the text, so we'll see in January what becomes of that.

As I said, the first half was great. We're introduced to Devlin and Ellie, hear some of their history, are introduced to the different secondary characters and the author builds up the suspense. The second half is filled with a lot of wishy-washy 'I want you/I don't want you' feelings. It honestly became so annoying and old since it kept repeating itself.

I liked Devlin and understood why he wanted to push Ellie away. He was certainly and interesting character. I was not a fan of Ellie though. Sure, she was smart and had a cop background, but she was a bit naive at times and didn't seem to have much self-respect.

Although this book ended on a minor cliffy, I'm not anxious to read what's next - that's good and bad. Good because I won't have to worry about it until January and bad because the book didn't leave me fiercely wanting more. But I have high hopes for the next book since I know things will really ramp up on the suspense part with the few unanswered questions about other characters we had in this one.

For some reason I had difficulty connecting with these characters and it wasn't until I was almost halfway through the book that I found out that this book was going to end in a cliffhanger and that there was going to be a second book. At that point I realized why I was having such a hard time getting into this book--I feel this first book is more about describing Devlin Saint's character and less about the relationship, or lack thereof, between Devlin & Ellie. I also had a problem liking Ellie's character -- I found her to be quite annoying. I really wanted to dive into this book and immerse myself in it but unfortunately it just didn't do it for me. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

One tortured hero.
One tortured heroine.
Heartbreak. Regret. Reunion.
I'm a sucker for a second chance romance and Devlin Saint was just the type of swoon-worthy character to make this journey worthwhile.

There was so much angst. Ellie didn't know when to quit or when to give. She made things hard for herself and for those around her. I wasn't sure where this story was going, but it made for some interesting reading. I lived for every moment with Devlin and would have given just about anything to get a glimpse into his mind and heart. I am not a fan of single perspective stories because of this reason. How can I connect with the hero who helps drive the story if I only get the heroine's limited scope of what's happening? Maybe it was done to amp up the mystery surrounding him. It sure left me with plenty of questions.

Although it didn't end in a cliffy, My Fallen Saint is obviously not the end for Devlin and Ellie and I'm looking forward to reading more. I want to know who's behind the events that tore them apart and threw them back together. Who is the mastermind behind their suffering?

Ellie Homes takes the hairpin curves of the canyon roads of her home town at dangerous speeds on the knife's edge of safety.  Danger is her middle name but in this instance its the memories.  Laguna Cortez her hometown that holds traumatic memories for her. She never expected to come back but here she is......... Will this visit help her get the closure she hopes?
Now a young woman and an investigative reporter to boot she's going to get a new take on her home town and her childhood memories. Her beloved Uncle Peter might not have been the benevolent business man that she remembers. Every interview, every document is leading her inexorably to a truth that is dangerous to her but most especially to her heart.
Who is Devlin Saint and why does he hold a strong fascination for Ellie outside of the interview that she's scheduled to conduct for her magazine. I love Ellie's courage and personality. She puts herself out there a hundred percent holding little back despite Devlin's reception. She quietly goes about interviewing people and doing her job even as the truths leave her reeling.
Devlin has a lot of secrets. He has re-invented himself for the better and that's not even counting his billionaire status and the philanthropic work that he does. He is passionate about the people his organization rescues and rehabilitates. Is he also extracting vigilante justice? All signs seem to indicate so but there is no proof. When they finally make a pact "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" and succumb to their insane chemistry the genie is out of the bottle and it's not going to be easy to stuff it back especially since their intimate moments are displayed for all to see.
Devlin is harboring more secrets that Ellie knows even as she asks him questions and gives him the chance to come clean. The first wave of truth is devastating. Ellie barely makes it back from that but it appears that there's more to come though we'll have to wait a while to find out what comes next. Will Ellie be able to accept who Devlin Saint is complete with all the baggage that comes with him?  Clearly she can't resist his physical impact but can she deal with the emotional fall out that appears inevitable.
So many questions! I can't wait to see what comes next.

Oh man, this is good. Devlin Saint is everything I wanted him to be and more. Secretive, maybe dangerous, so dominating in only the good ways.....sign me up for more of allll that. And add Ellie to the mix- his first love, whose heart he broke. She's still so drawn to him, but her investigative nature keeps unravelling their past and maybe even exposing the present. I like Ellie- she's independent, honest about her limits, determined, and loyal. And she's smart.

You know how you read a lot of romance and sometimes the steamy scenes get a bit skimmable? Not the case at all here. I devoured every heated moment. It was passionate, it was intimate, it was made even more enjoyable by the push and pull of their relationship!

Okay so there's also mystery, intrigue, and suspicion, and I think maybe not everyone is trustworthy. This is just the first in a new series and I can NOT wait for book two. I'm curious to find out more about all the characters involved, and I know I'm in for an intense, wild ride. I will probably reread this before the next one comes out.

4,5 Stars for My Fallen Saint ( Fallen Saint #1)
Book one in a new series from J Kenner and I have to say if this book is anything to go by she will have another hit series on her hands. As you would expect from this very talented author, the characters are easy to relate to and the writing is strong, I was captivated from the first page to the last line in this romance mixed with intrigue, drama, passion and suspense ......
Devlin Saint is a man you will fall for, he cares for the people he holds close to him and he always wants to help the underdog add in the hotness and you get a swoon worthy hero but there is more to him than meets the eye and once you start to peel back the layers you will fall hard and fast....
Ellie Holmes is an investigative reporter looking into her uncles murder and all clues lead to Devlin, could this man be involved or even responsible for her uncles death and why does the man standing in front of her look so familiar.....
This story ticked all my boxes, I swooned, I sighed, and at times I held my breath as Devlin and Ellie push trust and love to the limits, the chemistry is sizzling, the characters loveable and I can’t wait to see where we go with book 2 in this series.

Devlin and Ellie's story is a second chance romance, the start of a new series, Fallen Sain. They are both broken. There is angst and romance that will have your heartbreaking, everything that surrounds their story is a mystery and one I definitely need to find the answers to. Their chemistry is over the roof, it's pure fire, but one you are going to get burn with. Fantastic start to a romance suspense you want to uncover. All the dark secrets and amazing characters will have you reading from start until the end and you still want more.

4 1/2 Stars!!

Oh Yes!! I absolutely love My Fallen Saint! J. Kenner just slayed it!

First of all, Devlin Saint was wonderfully guarded and private. Therefore, any time he shows a piece of himself, it's pretty great. I always enjoy the male characters who are reserved and it takes a while for their chemistry to light up. When it happens, it's incredibly hot. Devlin was perfect in this role.

Then there is Ellie. She's returning to her hometown for the first time in many years. She left there when she was younger and her world fell apart. She's back to try to obtain some closure and move on with her life. She's been in a type of limbo where she just couldn't put the past to rest. She's hoping to find some answers and gain a better understanding of why her life imploded the way it did.

I encourage any readers to go in without reading many reviews. Enjoy the buildup and let yourself connect with the characters.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Intense and sexy. Suspenseful and emotional. I loved it! It's dark and full of twists and secrets. The chemistry between the main characters was off the charts. And don't get me started on the tortured hot alpha that got me swooning so hard. Definitely a great romance treat.
