I loved The Tourist Attraction when I read it last year. Zoey and Graham and the town of Moose Springs just warmed my heart.

Zoey’s friend Lana, on the other hand, was my least favorite character in the book. Right from the beginning of The Tourist Attraction, Lana rubbed me the wrong way.

However, Mistletoe and Mr. Right is Lana’s story of finding love and romance. I was so excited to spend time in Moose Springs, but a little wary of spending multiple hours with Lana.

That said, Lana comes off much more sympathetic and likable in this book.

Lana is spending the holidays in Moose Springs - her family is all over the world working on deals and with clients for the Montgomery Group. She’s been in Moose Springs working on the Moose Springs deal to build condos above the town.

Lana’s budding relationship with the town’s billiard hall owner is sweet. I enjoyed watching as the two of them grew their friendship and eventually their romantic feelings.

I found myself warming up to Lana, and loved visiting with Graham and Zoey and the doggy Jake. And I definitely found myself laughing at some of the antics that they all got into throughout the holiday season in Moose Springs.

While this is the second book in the Moose Springs series, it can definitely be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Very cute read. I loved the wittiness of the characters, some beloved from book one of the series. Its sexy and funny and heartwarming. Such a good read, and I cannot wait for book three in this series.

Loved this book! I enjoyed the first of the series, and this one did not disappoint either! I loved learning more about Lana considering how much I loved her in the first book!

What an opening line! This is a romance that could be read year round. It's funny, heartwarming and has lovable characters. I loved how the author immediately gets you involved and invested in the story. I didn't want to put it down.

Set in a picturesque town in Alaska, Lana is building some condos to help funnel money into the town, but the townspeople aren't having it. It's nearly Christmas and she is hoping some Christmas events and tracking down the Christmas-destroying moose will help her case.

We meet Rick, our love interest, and although it seems he and Lana have met in the previous book, I loved this introduction to him - very cute! It has made me want to read the other books in the series.

In terms of romance, our characters are open and honest about their feelings and we don't get the common miscommunication situation which I was so glad for. Each explain why they were doing what they were doing and I really appreciated their conversations. There was a lot of drama along the way and some parts can take away from the main story. Those issues did need discussing tough and made it a bit of a tear jerker but it was a nice well rounded romance.

I would have loved to see how the town turned out in the end but there is a sequel so maybe we will get to see how it all is!

I have some mixed feelings about this series overall but I thought this was a fun and festive holiday rom-com.

This follows 2 characters we met in book 1 - I do recommend reading The Tourist Attraction first as it gives a lot of backstory to the main plot in this book. I enjoyed both characters and thought their banter was great. And while their chemistry wasn't off the charts, it was still a fun, sweet romance that kept me invested the entire way through.

I think what stops me from absolutely falling for this series is it's tendency to be too much. There's just a few too many off-the-wall, quirky elements thrown which keeps anything from hitting hard enough. For example in here we have - a loner hero who dresses up pets, a creepy taxidermy restaurant, a Christmas hating Moose, rich people drama, inappropriate snow art, Santa suits, holiday party disasters, car accidents, etc. And with all this stuff thrown in nothing felt like it got quite enough attention or went as far as I wanted it to.

Overall I had a good time reading this and thought it was a solid Christmas season read. This series isn't a new all-time favorite though.

Review is live on Goodreads and will be posted to my blog on January 6, 2021

In this cute second installment of the Moose Springs, Alaska series, Sarah Morgenthaler provides a Christmas romance that is light, funny, but ultimately satisfying in which rich girl from the big city Lana meets her match in the once-burned, reserved pool-hall owner, Rick. Their path to romance won't be easy, though. Along the way, they will have to overcome a reluctant/resentful town, erotic snow carvings, a B & B filled with stuffed squirrels and, most threatening of all, the Santa Moose!

While I did enjoy this book & the cute small town vibe (think Stars Hollow-ish but in Alaska), I was left wanting a little bit more from it. Lana was an interesting character (although not my fave) when I read the first book, so I wanted to learn more about her back story & how she came to be where she was at. We got a little bit of a look into her life, but not as much as I wanted. I loved Rick & thought he was the sweetest guy, but I just felt like the book didn't quite satisfy me. There were some cute moments & some really funny moments (the creepy bed & breakfast), so it was entertaining to read overall, but not anything super wonderful.

TW: off page car accidents involving loved ones; sexual harassment; drunken accidents

This book wasn’t quite as enjoyable for me as the first in the series, but this is a series I’ll continue to read because it does have heart.

I did like Rick and Lana a lot. Small town man in love with big city businesswoman is one of my things, and Rick is such a sweet man.

The problems I had with this were similar to the first book. These books are far too long. There are so many unnecessary story threads, and it all ends up feeling so jumbled. Plot problems also get solved very quickly, which ends up feeling repetitive. Also, the unnecessary nicknames that are used so often pull me out of the story. The first book it was Zoey Bear and this book it was “dearest” and honestly if I took a shot every time they were used, I’d be dead.

The couples in these books tend to feel together very early in the story so if you prefer to see people get together quickly and date, this series will be good for you. Also, fade to black sex scenes for those that prefer that.

I’m still interested in the next book in the series and the fluff these books provide.

Really enjoyed this cute holiday book! It was a fun read that I finished pretty quickly.

One thing I really liked was the setting. Books set in cute, homey little towns always catch my attention. The town of Moose Springs seemed like an adorable little place with a small community of people. I liked the characters, including the side characters. They all had their own unique qualities. I enjoyed the story of the rogue moose! It gave the story a comedic element.

Some things that I didn't love but might just be me nit picking are the fact that the middle of the story dragged on a little bit. A bit dialogue heavy with not much going on. The romance between the two main characters was slightly predictable but I didn't really mind too much! A good, holiday romance is usually predictable!

Overall, I enjoyed this book and I'm happy that I added it to my holiday reading list!

Reading Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler was like vacationing in a snow globe. It’s cozy, cheery, and definitely sweet. In the latest installment of the Moose Springs series, Lana Montgomery finds herself facing lots of tough situations including investing in properties, catching a Christmas-hating moose, and falling in love.

At the beginning, there were moments where I felt like I was being given only a cursory explanation of characters, their backgrounds, and their relationships. About halfway through the book, I realized this was part of a series. Knowing this now, the author’s choices make a lot more sense, and I will say that I was able to enjoy the book without having read the first one.

The close-knit community within the story gave me major “Gilmore Girls” vibes, and the picturesque setting and frequent snow scenes made this the perfect read for the Christmas season. An adorable hedgehog named Darla, an alarming amount of taxidermy squirrels, and a brush with a tranquilizer gun definitely found themselves on my list of laugh out loud moments in this book. These lighthearted moments helped bring some levity as this book definitely takes on more serious, potentially life-or-death situations toward the end of the narrative.

All in all, this was a pleasant read, and I’ll definitely be picking up the other Moose Springs books when I have the chance.

I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

This book was SO darn adorable! Sarah Morgenthaler whisked me away to Moose Springs Alaska in this hilarious and feel good tale. A Santa moose, a squirrel B&B, a penis sculpted into the mountain, tons of snow, loads of fabulous characters, sweet romance, small-town vibes, an abundance of humor. this was one of my favorite Christmas books this season. these characters were so colorful, the setting so charming, the feeling so festive. Lana Loves Moose Springs, but the residence of Moose Springs aren’t all that crazy about her. They see her as an interloper, the posh rich girl building condominiums in their pristine community. Rick is the quiet introverted local pool hall owner who has a crush on Lana, but is convinced she is way out of his league. This is the sweet story of how these two opposites manage to find their way to one another. And believe me it wasn’t easy it is a story that involves tranquilizers, snowstorms, route family members, and of course a Santa moose. 2020 has been a rough year and I am forever grateful for books like this that just make you smile and feel good. if you like Christmas, small towns, and humorous stories then this is a can’t miss!

I was super excited about this one! Unfortunately it fell really flat for me... I loved the first book and was super eager to return to this Alaskan town but I did not like the main character at all.. I thought she would grow on me but she didn’t.

This is the second book in a series, but can easily be read as a standalone. The first one is The Tourist Attraction, which I’ve had on my list and just hadn’t gotten around to, but I will now to learn more about Graham & Zoey’s story.

This story takes place in small town Alaska, where real-estate mogul Lana falls in love with small business owner Rick. This is a simple, cute, PG holiday romance that was a cute & quick read for the holidays. Pretty straight forward- most people in town aren’t huge fans of Lana since she practically owns the town, but Rick falls for her anyway. They agree that it’ll just be a fling, and you can guess what happens from there...

I read Sarah Morgenthaler's The Tourist Attraction this past summer after I saw all sorts of bloggers and bookstagrammers talking about it. The cover first grabbed me and the description drew me in even further. Once I realized it was going to be a series, I was thrilled and made sure to request a copy of Mistletoe and Mr. Right to read and review. I'm so glad I did because it was so enjoyable - even more so than the first book!

Here's the synopsis:
How the moose (almost) stole Christmas.
Lana Montgomery is everything the quirky small town of Moose Springs, Alaska can't stand: a rich socialite with dreams of changing things for the better. But Lana's determined to prove that she belongs...even if it means trading her stilettos for snow boots and tracking one of the town's hairiest Christmas mysteries: the Santa Moose, an antlered Grinch hell-bent on destroying every bit of holiday cheer (and tinsel) it can sink its teeth into.
And really...how hard could it be?
The last few years have been tough on Rick Harding, and it's not getting any easier now that his dream girl's back in town. When Lana accidentally tranquilizes him instead of the Santa Moose, it's clear she needs help, fast...and this could be his chance to finally catch her eye. It's an all-out Christmas war, but if they can nab that darn moose before it destroys the town, Rick and Lana might finally find a place where they both belong...together.
If I had to try to explain Moose Springs, I would have to liken it to Stars Hollow but moved from Connecticut to Alaska and with a lot more moose. The townspeople are quirky but loveable and always there for each other. They're very much against tourists and that's why they're hellbent on blocking Lana at every turn. I think that was a really interesting thing to read as the townspeople don't want change nor do they want a bunch of strangers ruining their town. Most of them do know that without tourists their town would start dying but it has to be hard to see your quaint town overrun with people who don't care about what's left when their vacation is over. The thing is, Lana really does care about the town and you can't help but hope the town realizes that her vision does have some merit and that they can all find a way to work together.

I couldn't really remember how Lana and Rick met and there was some allusion to their history that kept throwing me off because I couldn't remember any of it. And I only read the first book in the summer! It wasn't a huge deal but I had to keep reminding myself that they did have history and that was why their relationship was moving as it was. It's a bit of an opposites attract kind of story but I find that kind of insults both Lana and Rick. She's rich, yes, but she knows the important things are friends and family which is why she holds on to her friendship with Zoey and Graham so tightly. And Rick isn't some small town guy with no brain, which he sometimes comes across as - which I don't think was Morgenthaler's intent. He's a quiet guy who observes everything and has a lot of his shoulders, trying to take care of a failing business and raising his ex-wife's nephew, who is now twenty and Rick's roommate.

Speaking of roommates - Rick is a total animal lover (he has a tendency to take in strays and look after everyone which was a bit refreshing since normally it's the female in the romances who has that issue). He has a giant cat, Roger, who often makes his displeasure known but deep down loves his home. AND HE HAS A HEDGEHOG. The set-up to the reader meeting Darla was perfection and I laughed out loud when I got to that part. I'm not a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, exactly, but even I found it too funny that the hedgehog is named after a character in the show.

This book is heavy on the comedy with a sweet romance (no open door sexy time here) and important messages woven throughout. It's not all fun and games when you're trying to: catch a destructive moose, prove to your family that you have a solid business plan for your favourite town, keep your pool hall afloat, keep your nephew out of jail, and just generally save the town.

Sarah Morgenthaler's Mistletoe and Mr. Right is quirky and lovable and I had a lot of fun reading it. I enjoyed the second Moose Springs book much more than the first and I really looking forward to the next book in the series, Enjoy the View.

I had such high hopes for this book because I really loved the Tourist Attraction, it honestly might have been one of my favorite reads this year. I loved everything about the Tourist Attraction from Graham and Zoey's back and forth and the love and connection I felt with the town and them as a couple. I loved it so much I was excited to read this book. Unfortunately, this book did not come through as much as the first one did.

I was super excited to see some of my favorite characters back in play in their book. I loved seeing Graham and Zoey and Jack in his cute sweaters. While I liked Lana in the first book reading a book with her at the center of it was not enjoyable. I felt she came off a whiny and rich and entitled, the way she called everyone dearest didn't make me like her more. She was always trying to get the town to like her and didn't seem to be going about it the right way. While I believe her heart was in the right place she just wanted to get the town to like her because she wanted it to be her home.

I didn't like the relationship between Lana and Rick, I never felt sparks between them, and always felt like she was "putting him down". I felt like their relationship was forced on us. I really liked Rick as a character but I would have rather see him with someone other than Lana. Rick had really sweet moments but he was too quiet and reserved for my liking. Especially with a female character like Lana who was very overpowering. I felt that Rick needed more Alpha males in his life.

Overall this book was okay, wasn't my favorite pairing. I am super excited to read Enjoy the View which is the next book in the series and I hope to like it better.

Thank you to Sourcebook Casablanca and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

Mistletoe and Mr. Right is the Christmas follow-up to the fun read Tourist Attraction. (Although not a true sequel, I do recommend reading them in order as the characters interact a lot). This was a fun Christmas read about two lonely people finding each other. I also really loved how Lana is the billionaire in this series. Can't wait to read the third one!

I wanted to like this book so much, but unfortunately it just didn't do it for me. I was really hoping for a Hallmark Christmas-style romcom and I just didn't get it. Maybe I would have liked the book more (or actually finished it) if I had read the first in the series, but I wasn't invested in any of the characters or the plot lines. I did appreciate how Rick wasn't your typical romance hero, he was kind and shy, but that didn't make up for how boring I found the book.

Unfortunately the writing style was not for me so I did not end up finishing this one. The idea behind the story however is a great one and I'm sure many others will enjoy more than me.

This book in the series took me far longer to get through then her first, and I think it was because I didn't love the characters as much as the first one. I dragged through it, but I still gave it four stars because "it's not you, it's me!". I will still highly recommend this book, and I love that it still held the charm and wintery holiday cheer of the first one. I will continue to be a fan of Morgenthaler's, for sure!

Mistletoe & Mr. Right follows Lana, Zoey’s best friend from The Tourist Trap, as she navigates her new role as owner of the town of Moose Springs. While many in the town strongly dislike her and her vision for the town’s future, one man stands out from the rest. Rick.

Rick has faced many difficulties in his life, including the dwindling success of his local business. He’s forced to face the reality that he just might have to open up to the tourists that so many hate to keep his business open.

Lana and Rick find comfort in one another, becoming someone that they each can rely on. They hunt a moose together, one that seems to have a strong dislike of Christmas. They also support each other through the uncertainties they faced in their lives and in their future.

While I didn’t love Lana and Rick as much as Zoey and Graham—there’s just something about the snarky, love/hate thing they had going on that really made me love them—, I still really enjoyed this one. It’s a wonderful Christmas read and makes me want to one day experience Christmas in Alaska.
